  1. My observation is that Country Coach is more respected for that period of time over Dutch Star or several others, making it more sought after. Next to Newell or Wanderlodge, and of course the bus conversions. Country Coach was doing bus conversions at that time, and probably still do, and the overall building of them just seems to be of higher quality.
  2. The most common mis-wiring of the toad is the charge line not carrying a proper ground from the coach to the toad battery, if the ground wire from the coach to the toad battery is left off, the accessories on the toad are pulling from the toad battery, and without a proper ground from the coach the toad battery will not charge from the coach. Assuming that the ground will carry through the trailer ball is not a good policy. This is not a reason for the lights not working correctly, but a possible explanation of why the battery did not properly charge.

    ULSD Fuel

Diesel #1 is distilled to a lower volatility which means it is higher grade than #2. This changes the dynamics of the fuel so that it works well at a lower temperature and over a larger range of usage. The (RED) is a dye to signify that the fuel is for OFF ROAD use, therefore no highway taxes have been added, not as a marker for #1 fuel. I would not expect to see red in #1 fuel.
  4. Two 120 volt inverters does not become a 240 volt circuit, still 120 volt circuits twice.
  5. If you are having a hard time finding controls in Windows 10, you may want to install god mode, it puts what you need in one window. www.windowscentral.com/how-enable-god-mode-windows-10

    ULSD Fuel

All road diesel fuels were required to move to 500 ppm in 2007, and that was lowered even more in 2010 in the USA.
  7. I'm not advocating smoking, but I have a friend who does, and he will take a puff, then exhale at each air junction, if an air leak, it will actually move the smoke backward toward him. Then of course as Brett said, the bubble test to affirm the leak. Again do not start smoking to do this, but most of us do know someone who does.
  8. Does the outlet in the loft where TV plugs in a gfi outlet? If it is, there should be a reset and test button on the outlet itself. Of course there are gf outlets downstream that are just regular outlets but controlled by a gfi breaker upstream. If the one in the bathroom when reset does not fix the problem then you should look elsewhere for another gfi outlet to reset. You should also look for a circuit breaker that could possibly be tripped in the coach breaker box in the event that the plug is not on a gfi circuit.
  9. Hey Herman, Bill's comments were 5 1/2 years ago, his shadow is following him.
  10. I know this sounds crude, but in a pinch, a beach towel can be mounted very easily. Also look in the local box stores for close sizes if you are looking for cheap. Also stores like J C Penny has sources that will custom make just about any size imaginable. You can be creative with what you mount them to the existing track with. Good thing about curtains, they do not have to be exactly the same size as the original, slightly larger is easily overcome.
  11. Well XP was introduced in 2002, 14 years ago, before that ME (heaven help), Windows 2000 Pro, (very good replacement for NT), before that Windows 98, (3rd edition was the best). Yes 10 can be set up to look like 7, but every upgrade that I have seen from 7 or 8 seems to be much slower, while a clean install is a little better. Glad you found a pro.
  12. I would try to spring for a PSW if at all possible. 20/15 I think means that one side is 20 amp while the other is 15, while the other probably is 20/20. Just food for thought, may never need the extra 5 amps but at 120 volts, that is 600 watts, or 10- 60 watt light bulbs, or a small microwave
  13. Well mine is a 36 volt Kangacruz Aspire, collapses so it will fit into most suv's, but I chose to haul it on the tandem tow dolly. I ordered it from Canada and it has served me well. Top speed is 17 kilometers, about 14 mph, it comes completely street legal with the exception of seat belts which I added so that I now have it tagged as a LSV.
  14. Check the label inside the door of the Whirlpool unit for amp draw, all refrigerators are not the same, even amongst the same brand. Multiply the amperage by 120, then I always add fifty percent for overhead, ie., 6 amps times 120 = 720 + 50% (360) =1080, note this is only an example, some fridges require more, most of the newer ones reguire less. If yours requires less, and you can limit the use of other devices while the fridge is on the inverter, you can probably get by with only 2000 watts just fine, but the key is to limit usage of other appliances at the same time. If it were mine, that is the way I would go for now, then plan to upgrade the 2000 with a 3000 at some later time.

    30 Amp Upgrade

A lot of the RV generators have 120 V 30 amp breaker, and another 120 V 20 and sometimes 25 amp breaker. If you try to read L1 to L2, there will be no reading, but L1 to neutral, or ground will read 120, and L2 to ground will also read 120. Both sides are in phase with each other, hence the reading because the generator is only a 120 volt generator. These guys are usually rated 5000 or 5500 watts. One other thing about inverters, two 120 volt inverters does not equal 220/240 volts across L1 and L2, they will produce 110/120 each and can not produce 240 together for running 240 volt appliances. You can however purchase a single inverter that will produce 240 volts, most of these units require 24 or 48 volts DC battery banks.
  16. If no RV salvage yard is close, ebay is also a good source, just type in rv awnings on the search line.
  17. Joe, I have a brother that lived in Pittsburgh for four years too long, he is the one that put USS on computers, he left that job to come back to bama because of the nastiness. If you will e-mail me when you plan to come through this area, I will be glad to take you and family to Dreamland in Tuscaloosa for a meal, the ribs are awesome very well known.
  18. I must be living in Dreamland, oh excuse me, that's where we go for BBQ. I did forget that you guys do have those lousy conditions.
  19. Wingard Razor is a rooftop auto search antenna. Is the 12 volt DC connected to the wall mounted amplifier? This is where it gets power to turn the rotor and to power the amplifier. This is a highly directional antenna and if not properly hooked up, it can not do a search to find the best signals for the stations near you.

    30 Amp Upgrade

Nathan, one thing to remember is that the circuit box in a coach is treated as a daughter box to the first, ie. earth ground is not bonded to neutral. The CG pedestal is where that must occur.
  21. I have stated on previous post, I take the bus out for a spin about 25 miles down the interstate then back to the nearest truck stop for a refill as often as two weeks to at least once a month, just to keep things working correctly. This of course includes the tires, and when returning home, I park on rubber mats.
  22. Joe, when I read his post about CW, my thought was "UGH OHH!!!!".
  23. I use a Samsung 18 cf on a modified 2 kw, been using it for three and a half years. I run the generator for roof air while traveling, but the fridge is always on MSW while traveling, or dry camping.
  24. There are also miniature concentrators available, they can be rented for short periods. Some are small enough they can be carried on the belt, or in a small ladies purse.
  25. One thing to consider about a golf cart is how are you going to haul it? If you are towing a vehicle already, if it is a pickup truck, then the cart can simply be put in the truck bed. But if the toad is an automobile, how can you get it there. I have a miniature golf cart that I carry. It weighs 308# batteries included, small but will carry two adults and two half grown very easily. It uses three wheel chair batteries (36) volts and works very well. I modified my tow dolly "made a tandem tow" to carry the cart and my toad on the one unit. The cart will travel through a park or wherever at 14 MPH. Mine is street legal and I applied for and got a low speed vehicle tag, just for those parks that will not allow a golf cart to be used.
