The problem with the portable ones if you look close is they can grow legs.

I booked for Corpus Christi for mid January and they didn't mention any flooding or problem there.

Look at the pictures in my profile. I fitted a Vizio TV outside the box with a couple of angle bracket. Looks like it was made to be that way. Think outside the box.

My phone have Sprint Unlimited so I need not worry about data use. I can also wifi it to 10 GB without extra charge.

Waze have traffic data input by users on the go. If there is a cop up ahead it will show on the map and flash a warning on the screen. When I reach that spot it gives me the option to thumps up or hit no button. That's gives live data in real time. There is also input for traffic, hazard, construction to name a few. I haven't used Googles Maps because I'm unable to multitask like the DW. LOL Sorry to see your lost of your motorhome in your signature. May you find one better than the one you had.

DW was using Googles maps when Rand McNally GPS quit. I got us where we were going but I unaware of traffic data in Googles Maps. I believe both could be problems without cell towers like in the desert. Although the Waze have a bus icon you can use I don't think it has bus data for low bridges or narrow roads. It dose have stay off dirt roads option.

Update about the Rand McNally saga. I got my refund and they also pad me back the Texas sales tax. How about that, finally a happy ending. In the meantime using Wares for over a week has been going well. Driving near my home it seems to know all of my short cuts.

Electronic Toll Collection Information
huffypuff replied to tireman9's question in Destinations/Attractions
I have driven from the west coast to the east coast paying no tolls with the route slightly longer and little extra time. By having the avoid tolls button checked I had saved thousands in the last ten years. Try pulling your toad over Key Bridge in MD and it will cost you big time. Motorhomes are not allowed thru the tunnels there if it carries propane. That was a mess to save time now we take 695 and save $45. The politicians are pushing pay by mile to fight back. When that comes, I hope I don't have to drive anymore. -
Too much information on that card as it can be used for ID theft

Well I just picked up an unlocked Motorola Moto G5 Plus and changed to Sprint unlimited for $50. With that in mind it won't hurt to try Waze since it is free. Heck we used Googles maps when the Rand McNally quit on the road. Yes, when you pay $399 for a GPS, you should expect the best, not something that locks up and leaves you dead in the water.

Good luck with it. I'm still waiting for my refund.

These routing glitches is sure is better than the unit shutting down or locking up like the Rand McNally. Then having to hook to a laptop to bring back to life. I talked to a full timer yesterday and he claim a few glitches sending him where it didn't make sense. Seems like all has that bug if information on your rig and bridges or road is wrong. As long as the glitches keeps getting reported I would think it will get better.

I have a Magnum 2000 but not a true sinewave. It charges the house batteries when on shore power and charges the chassis batteries through a cheater device. Pressing the inventor button would make it harder to charge the batteries not easier.

I looked at a couple today the rv660 and rv770 then went to online reviews. The reviews wasn't promising enough for me to get one.

Yes, they strung me along for awhile so I contacted their I BBB by web Wednesday night. The tech support supervisor called me early Friday morning agreeing to a refund and sent me a label that morning. According to tracking they will receive it this coming Thursday. I sent everything back including boxes, cables, mounts, unit and letter with the RMA number and original receipt staple to it. After they receive it the supervisor said it will be 4 to 6 weeks before I see the refund. You can bet they will play this out as long as they can. Now I'm looking for a replacement GPS also. I would like to have programmable safe routing for large vehicles towing.

I went on that road once with a 93 Southwind and survived it but said never again without using a toad instead. That can happen very easy as I remember that I had to pull way over to let others by coming the other way. I remember so many on bicycle riding up and down the road. Lucky I didn't take any of them out too. I also remember signs stating trucks not advised. Maybe needs updating to include RV over 24 feet.

Just the other day it quit again and had to be hooked to the laptop to repair it. So frustrating to have something that you paid good money for to sit worthless and has to be repair to work again. I filed a complaint to their local BBC asking for a refund. I still have the receipt and box it came in. I will probably get nothing out of it such as I got when filing a complaint about my ISP.

When I worked for a county fleet government I would have the best luck removing stripes, logos and shields by letting it sit in direct sun until hot to the touch. Then I just peel leaving no residue and fresh looking paint showing underneath.

I went with plastic and love them and the shine. A bag of 60 is real cheap and won't rust.
