  1. Bill, back then you did not get fake leather furniture! You name it, you could have it, for a price. Yea, 4 leg toy! LOL
  2. Nice! 99% of RV owners don't realize that you can blow as much money on a 5'er and tow as you can on a DP coach and toad! I have a dear friend in NE Texas, his wife and one of the two daughters are into horses, they both have their own 5'er that holds 2 horses and 40 foot living quarters, just the trailers alone was $1.3 million, built by Newell trailer Div. in 2012 (they don't do trailers anymore)! 2 years ago, he bought 2 Volvo Tractors custom built, with auto tranny. Extreme end of the choices! Have not heard anything bad about yours & they seem to be well built.😃 Happy Trails and keep the rubber side down!
  3. Kodiak007. Welcome to the Forum! 😃
  4. 4,207 lbs is a lot of weight. You probably have a 5,000 lb hitch, but that is no guarantee that you can tow 5,000 lbs. look on the rear axle it will have a stamp in kilos or pounds telling you what it's rated for. That would include weight of coach in rear when loaded, so if you weigh your coach, when ready for travel, then subtract from axle stamp and it will give you what weight you can tow max! Nothing allowed for safety...
  5. mikemontg. Welcome to the Forum! As for the NSA, never heard off it. Most common is, Roadmaster, Blue Ox and Delco. First you need to know the weight off the GMC, then how much can the Vista when fully loaded for travel, tow? I did not know that a AWD can be towed 4 wheels down! I have seen way to many WB Vistas tow too heavy a vehicle.
  6. Ian, that was my reason in 1967...I was given a First Issue and a July 67' issue! We still got them! Since Linda (my new wife) is a member of both FMCA and Escapees, we use the extra copies to leave in Laundry rooms at RV Parks, all over North America. We also take out what we might need in the future, 2 binders, one for Tech Talk & one for interesting places to see...that's from the extra copy! Since we traded in both of our DP's, for one and got married, Linda is retiring her F# and Escapees, we will travel on mine. We will still do the above! As Ross said, there is no saving on Staff, either way! FMCA is non profit, FMC is for profit. For most, it's confusing! Wayne, too true!
  7. brocki, probably won't take more than an hour to fix & get new LP put in! I can't speak for everyone on this thread, but I wish your friends daughter, a speedy recovery! 🙏
  8. You could also drive the rig to a LP store & have them check things out...could be that you don't have the 80% regulator (see Kay's reply), or it was not purged before fill up! I put my $$ on the regulator.
  9. That was very informative and I also read the comments/replies! Hope Richard reads it also!
  10. This is like "Pulling chicken teeth?"
  11. RSBILLL, Porsche "Hot Rod?" Never seen one! Will you modify your current engine or drop in something else? I did a Lime Green, Opel station wagon, once! 1960, mated to a Buick 401 V8...we put it in the rear and blacked out the rear windows...real trick was to keep it cool and plenty of fresh air. Built a fire wall, between me and it. Was it safe? NO! Fast? OMG yes! Friday evenings it would take the run from Santa Monica to Big Bob's Drive Inn, in San Fernando Valley! Lot of "Rod's" there, in 1964. Sorry, Herman/Joe...Back to Steep Grades in RV's! Please, Please, don't delete us...🙏🙏
  12. Love floorplan? Remember, happy wife, happy life! That's all you need. Just sit back and enjoy life in the slow lane!
  13. I tried the old one & yes it will run on Generator, just make sure you have empty gray and plenty of fresh water...I could not get mine to run on inverter only! Same with Washing machine and dryer! Now, we use the Dishwasher for paper plate storage & 2 Wine glasses!
  14. The only problem, after the fix, is mental...you feel as if you can't trust it.
  15. WBil, you must have used "Spell Check," for once in your life, on that line! RSBill, I have to agree! LOL Herman or Joe, every now and then, I get a Capital "D" that I can't get rid off...on PM mostly! Just started 3 days ago.
  16. RSBILL, did you stop hauling the big trailer? One off these days, we need to come to your Mountain Top and you'll need to stop by the Ranch on your way to FL!!!
  17. Wonder if either one will work better than Mothers on a MC? On my Alcoa's, slick mist works fine for us! Spray on, wipe off.
  18. Lack of Quality Control and built on a Fri or Mon, can give you, the consumer, lots of headaches!
  19. Even today it's hard to beat a Beaver Patriot Thunder! Back in 2000 it only had two competitors, non custom made, Safari Panther and Country Coach!
  20. Herman...you forgot "to" be! Between you and WBill...it can be an interesting read.
  21. Remco may have a solution, like a built in disconnect. We have on on a 2014 Expedition and tow 4 wheels down. I had one installed on a one ton 1996, Ford Centurion Custom and towed it 4 down!
  22. Wayne, yes...Herman can be trusted! Scouts honor (Eagle)!
  23. Yes, but compare the weight to torque ratio! You should have tried Rt. 31 on the Gaspe peninsula, they have a couple at 27 Degrees, either way, your puckered.
