Roof Top Satellite Dish Replacement
jgallego replied to ripnfix's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
We like the in-motion. Family can be watching dish while I am driving. I also have added a set of headphones so as not to compete with the satellite radio. Jaime -
You can purchase it at the Verizon Wireless Store. I have been using it since Saturday and it is working well. I currently have a boundary set at my storage facility so that if it move past that boundary I will get a text and e-mail. I also shows your current battery voltage. Jaime

Installed the Delphi connect this afternoon and it works great. Although it is not listed as one of the vehicles it is suppose to work on. I installed it on my 2013 Chevrolet Equinox at home first and it worked great just as advertised. I then went to the storage facility I have the motorhome parked and installed it. It worked great. It automatically picked up the 2013 Ford F53 Chassis, mapped the location where it was parked, amount of fuel, volts in the battery and showed no code alerts. The wifi worked great. You can connect up to five items. The price is not bad a lot cheaper than on star. It cost $99 for the unit. There is a $10 monthly fee. I already had a verizon wireless mifi. I pay $50 a month for 5 gig on the mifi card. They offered me three more gig for a total of 8 gig that I can share between the card and the Delphi for an additional $8.00. Jaime

I purchased a Verizon Delphi connect this afternoon to try on my motorhome. I was wondering if anybody is currently using it on their motorhome. It connects to your OBD-II connector. It will then allow you to track your motorhome on an smart phone, tablet or computer. It is also a Verizon wireless hotspot. It will also read your trouble codes and give you various data such on the operation of your motorhome. I sure hope it works. I am hooking it up first thing in the morning. Thanks, Jaime

I live in the Houston area and I have never winterized my rig.

We have a Coachmen Mirada 35DL 36 1/2 feet long. It has a little over 2,500 miles on it right now. During the Christmas Holidays we drove from the Houston Area down to Mission, Texas looking for warm weather. It was about 800 miles round trip. Driving down to Mission we averaged 6.7 miles also running the generator. Coming back we averaged 5.5 miles per gallon also using the generator. Coming back we fought the headwind from a cold front the was moving down. It really reduced the mpg. Jaime

Actually the Texas Law goes into effect March 1, 2015. My Motorhome is due for inspection on February so I will still be under the old law this year. But next year I have to get it inspected prior to paying the annual registration. Jaime

Dish has blockbuster online to download movies. You can also get HULU for about $8 per month that will let you download the latest television show. In addition you could go online to the various network sites and watch previously shown programs. You can use your ipad, iPhone or tablet hooked up to your television monitor to watch them normally. We use dish and love it. We have it both at home and in the motorhome. Jaime

I purchased the RVNanny. It will text you if the alarm goes off. It has a motion sensor built in. I have the motorhome in the shop so I have not installed it yet. The RVNanny Alarm System Monitors: • AC/DC Power • Temperature (Hi/Low) • Fire/Smoke Alarm • Intruders/Motion • Audio Levels -(listen in on your asset's activities) The RVNanny™ is a Wireless RV Alarm System that is easily installed in less than 10 minutes. When an alarm is activated, the systems will text message your cell phone and/or send you an email. The system communicates anywhere cell phone coverage exists. 24/7 SECURITY ALERTS Because The RVNanny™is a wireless portable system and not a fixed hard wired system, it can also be used to monitor your home, cottage, business, plane, RV and camper

Ford did not cover the repair on the collar that holds the leaf springs. They claim that I hit something and that caused it. I have only driven the motorhome about 400 miles since I puchased it and I can guarantee that I have not hit anything that would have caused it to separate. They did cover under warranty a new battery and repair to the a/c.

IPhone 6 Plus is Now My Main Mobile Device
jgallego commented on Roadtrekingmike's blog entry in Roadtreking Blog
I bought three for my family. Two have come in and mine is coming in today. I really like the larger size and it still fits in our hand comfortably. -
It will not be ready until later this week. It looked like the band that holds them together had come loose and the leaf springs were moving apart out of alignment. They were waiting this morning for the approval from Ford to make the repairs. It has to have been defective as I only have about 1,700 miles on the coach.
-
Yes, Ford did pay for the wrecker bill. They made all the arrangements.

I was having some modifications done to the inside of my motorhome They noticed that my front driver side leaf springs were coming loose. The banding had come loose. I called Holiday World. They did not do these type of repairs. I asked them who did. They gave me some dealers. None of them would do it when I called them. One would be he said he was in a bad area of town and the motorhome would be broken into and I would have to sign a release not holding them liable. So I called Ford Motorhome Customer Assistance. Now I have to remind you I live in the Houston, Texas area. The technican called me back and said that Mac Haic and gave me the service managers name or Chastain Ford would do it. He left it on a voice mail for some reason my phone did not pick it up. I called him back and told him I would like Mac Haik to do the repair. So they called and had a wrecker pickup my motorhome at 8 am. For some reason I decided to take the day off and followed the wrecker to Mac Haik. Upon arriving the service manager stated they could not do the repair. They did not have the equipment to lift such a large vehicle. Now I had called Mac Haik the day before and talked to a lady and she had told me the same thing. I figured Ford must have talked to service manager and he said he would do it. So I called Ford back. They said I had to take it Chastain. They would quickly fix it and it would not have to be there long. The first trip to Mac Haik was arouind 40 miles. LUckily the wrecker driver waited so he towed it to Chastain. He we were met by a person from service telling us they could not do the job. I told them Ford had talked to them and they had approved it. He also meantioned it would probably be around three weeks before they could look at it and they were not in a safe neighborhood and it would more than likely be broken into. The wrecker driver found a comany in League City that could and was willing to do the repairs. So we were about to leave and they called back and said no they were not on the Ford Motorhome approved list. The closest place now was Beaumont, Tx which is not probably at least a 100 miles from Chastain Ford. I told Ford Customer Service I better not get there and them tell me they do not do this type of work. They assured me it would not happen this time. So two hours later we pull into Yates Auto & Truck Repair. It is not a big place but I beleive it will be secure there. They seemed real nice and appeared to know what they were doing. I was hoping it would be ready by tomorrow afternoon. They said it would Monday before they could look at it. Then they would write it up and send it to Ford for approval. Ford will take two days to approve the repair. So I am not happy about this. Hopefully all turns out well. I will let you know once the repairs are completed. I am shocked nobody in the Houston area could make the repair. When I bought it I was told by Holiday World there were quite a few warranty dealers in the area. Apparently this was not correct. I am just glad I was not travelling and broke down somewhere for a week. Jaime

It tells you in the book that it might be off a few pounds. I have mine set at 95 psi by the guage but show up around 91 and 92 psi sensors.

Best Satellite Provider?
jgallego replied to BruceDouglas's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
I have had dish at home and on the motorhome. Works great on both. I have winegard that automatically connects and you can watch while driving down the road. Jaime -
I had a 5th wheel prior to buying my motorhome a few months ago. The motorhome is the best way to go. I would never go back to a 5th wheel. The motorhome is a lot more convenient.

Is There A Popular - Go To - Vehicle For Towing 4 Down?
jgallego replied to DaveKerr's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I tow a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox with all four wheels down. Just put in neutral, access key on and then I had them add a toggle switch so I did not have to pull a certain fuse. Works great. -
I had a wireless backup camera on my 5th wheel. It worked fine without a problem. It had good picture quality and sound. It was the Voyager Digital Wireless Backup System. 5th wheel was 37 feet long and I it on a crew cab Silverado pickup truck. Jaime

Camping World has the switch advertised in the mailer I received for I believe around $75. I also think they have $39 installation. Jaime

I have a Chevrolet Equinox. Holiday World did the fuse switch while installing the towing package. I tow with all four wheels down. Jaime
