  1. The V10 is standard, Diesel is a $9000.00 up charge
  2. Carl, its work.. I will toast you guys this weekend with some wine and cheese. Have a great time!
  3. Quality oil and filter.... it will take it. I ran Mobil 1 Synthetic (5W30) with a Motorcraft filter in mine. I have personally seen these with over 300,000 miles on them in construction vehicles that tow, and I can tell you they have a much harder life than in an RV. I had one company set a transmission on fire from beating on one so hard, (pulling a full size Case backhoe with an F550) it shoot fire out of the transmission dipstick tube onto the engine, I replaced the transmission, engine and transmission wiring harnesses, coolers, radiator etc, still running today...
  4. My friend's Tiffin has it in the kitchen directly across from the Refrigerator. If it was boxed in behind the drivers seat I wouldn't mind.
  5. Yup, my thoughts exactly. That was the reason for my change over to oil.
  6. Ugg, want to go but can't.....Safe travels!
  7. Thanks Carl, I actually found this company (link below), and I will look into your recommendation as well. We can put away some BBQ in this family and I love to cook it. I'm that guy at the campground cooking up a bunch of food meeting new people. I might need the trailer type and hook it to the back of the jeep .We will look like the Beverly Hillbilly's rolling down the highway. I mentioned it to the DW the other day, and I got that stare.... , so I let it go at that point. The next trip we go out looking for that local BBQ place and the food isn't that great, she will come around. http://www.traegergrills.com/shop/grills/town-travel-portable-series/ptg/TFT17LLA.html#gclid=CLbj3PbKn8sCFYUWHwodITkOdA&start=23
  8. Carl, she is 5'2" I am 5'8" not 6'6". Puff, when you sell that coach you have to stay on here....no one else will defend the Norcold 1200 series they way you do. You are like the Norcold expert, that's pleasant to work with. just my two cents, my ice maker was the only thing that worked on our 1200LRIM correctly. It was plugged into a separate outlet, not sure why. all it ever gave us was cold H2O, nothing freezes at 34 degrees. twice I was able to get the freezer below freezing, not sure why or how on the one time. The 2nd time it was behind the coach (after it was removed) and it got cold out that night.
  9. Carl, let me know what they charged you for the Aqua Hot once you have it completed. I am going to tackle mine this weekend, I probably would have paid someone but there are no authorized service centers local to me.
  10. Agreed, it had more power, I found it was worse on fuel...mostly my fault, it ran so good I found my foot in it more often. But when I was behaving it was no better on MPG. I installed trans temp gauge, oil temp gauge and Diff temp gauges on the A Pillar and my transmission ran at 150 degrees from 190 before the banks trans command was installed and it shifted much better. later on I replaced the pan with an extra deep sump aluminum pan with cooling fins, I dropped another 10 degrees with that and gained a few more quarts. I changed the pan to help keep the ford transmission case square, under heavy load they were known to flex causing internal leakage at the valve body gaskets inside, which would result in internal failure, the solid pan helped to hold it square.
  11. Oneway, our first coach needed a new roof, when we looked at it at the dealer it was parked inside a storage warehouse it was so bad. I do not know what it was originally but I can tell you it was replaced with TPO. (same color on both the top side and bottom side) That coach was a 1998 Coachmen Santara 311SB 31' Class C. The unit was on consignment and I bought it for a cheap price (no inside or wood damage) the dealer charged me $2600.00 to remove everything on the roof and replace the TPO, reinstall all vents, A/C etc. It was a small local dealer in the Pocono's nice people family owned RV dealership. I don't know if the price was discounted in anyway but none the less that is what I paid for the roof.
  12. Jeff, good post, thank you! I see your signature, I am interested in the under 60 task force, can you pm me?

  14. My ice maker doesn't work while driving. At 5'2" she just tells me I'm on the wrong road spouting off orders like a General, complaining when I ask for another bottle of water.
  15. Carl, glad it wasn't too expensive.
  16. We looked at one place to stay in FL, that had these restrictions. When I called and gave them the coach info they asked for a photo of the coach, I sent it, No problem. Beautiful place, cheap in the summer.... I have seen some really sharp Super C's, test the water...call and send them a photo of what you want to purchase and see if it will be accepted. While our experience is not even close to most of you I think we can all agree why they are have those rules, while they might be strict I have parked at a few placed that were....hmmmm.....not so nice to be at to put it nicely.
  17. Nice upgrades! The F53 is a good RV chassis.
  18. Take a look at my signature line, I have been hit, knives pulled on me, broken up bar room fights, went through a glass door with a guy 2x my size etc... and I now work for a trucking co, that was nothing... I do appreciate the responses from my friends. OK, with all of that being said lets get back to the topic......shall we? Yesterday the DW and I took a road trip to CW in NJ (beautiful day for a ride in the car) to pick up the little things we all need for the start of the season. Plus this CW just expanded into selling new and used RV's, so we wanted to take a walk around and see if I get my next brainstorm . Surprisingly it was my DW's idea. Several products were on display in the parking lot, TT's with and with out the bumper hitch, Class C's, Class A's and a few DP's. We must have spent at least 2 hours walking through them. I have to say we were not impressed with the floor plans and quality, here is what we saw; TV's out of sight range, you have to turn your head 90 degrees to see it. One had it mounted next to the cook top (class A DP), not sure how that will look in a few years. unable to access back bedroom or restroom with slides closed. overall construction quality was very poor. screws laying on the floors and counters, valences falling down. sink in one bathroom wedged deep into a small space, not sure my kids could access let alone an adult, when there was another location that it could have been mounted. My guess is they placed it as close to the gray tank as possible. just flimsy construction products all throughout. It all just reiterated somewhere back in this or another post on how the quality has dropped off in the last few years. What really surprised me was the dealer displayed new units with broken items inside.
  19. It never ends my friend! Hope it was a bad connection vs replacing the monitor$$$
  20. Rogers, keep in mind the down sides of trailers; When you arrive you have to exit to set up, in bad weather that can be a pain. When you arrive, the trailer is at ambient temps inside, cold or hot can be uncomfortable for some, while waiting for the systems to get the unit to your desired temp. While in travel, you are at the mercy of using rest stops or gas stations for the potty. While in travel, stopping for a meal often cannot be cooked in the trailer without opening the slides, then most do not have generators if you need power, again you will be at ambient temps inside while this is all happening, chances are you will be done before the temps are comfortable. The bucking and bouncing down the highway getting blown around gets old quick with a trailer. I am sure here are downsides to motorhomes for some, if there is any they don't bother us. We often travel with friends with Trailers, these are the struggles I witness, and I have my first drink down, they are still setting up. One safety concern; when a trailer is set up you have no brakes to keep it secure in its spot, (unless it has air brakes) I watched one roll at a campground last year as it pushed the chocks along and the scissor locks between the wheels fell off. Just my two cents, go for what ever works best for you and enjoy it.
  21. We had a Splendid 2000 series. If you turned the water on while driving the unit would fill up on its own, and eventually begin to leak as it overflowed. I called them for parts, since I thought it was a great thing the DW hated it. Splendid tech support told me I needed a new inlet water valve. The part had been discontinued, and there were none left on the shelf. They were kind to offer me a discount on a new unit, I passed. We wanted more drawer storage so I removed it and replaced it with drawers I had purchased from an Amish Furniture store. If it was a stackable I probably would have replaced it.
  22. Herman, I had no idea I could do that, in fact the one for my smoker is empty, so off I go for that adapter and a quick stop at the butcher for a Brisket. I worked part time at a hardware store a few years ago so filling propane was a nightly occurrence for me, I have that side down. Thank you, my little Webber would take a few years to empty that giant tank.
