Thank you, Herman.

Perhaps we will here from the OP, but let me guess (only a guess): the restricted stretch is closed to tractor trailers because it is an ideal area for tourists and RVers Follows the Salmon River within view of the highway. Gotta be a stretch where big trucks are not welcome because of the beauty. I have traveled to Missoula from the Idaho Falls area on 28/US93 in an 18 wheeler. Never in an RV. Maybe I can still get out there if Betty finally gets better.

Nice looking ride! You going with a Residential fridge or a Dometic? You will get a lot of advice on the topic. We still have a Dometic. Difficult spot to install a Res in our Phaeton, but not impossible.

I am now interested enough in the area that I took a short look at available rv parks. They would know about the questioned stretch of US93. Looks too good to pass up. If you have the time, find one to try, and ask or explore with your F-150. Please let us know. The Idaho Panhandle is very scenic. By the way/ I-90 across the northern panhandle/ Wallace/ was the last town to be finally routed around the last stop light on the forth longest Interstate in our country. I-90 Happened into national news that night in 1991. CBS I think. Being a trucker that had been through Wallace , it hit home with me. Kinda clumsy, but hopefully you all understood it. 😉

I figure that with our tow we are about 56 feet. Dragging an F150 would make you longer. If a route is not marked for commercial vehicles I tend to be cautious. I have been known to contact people in the know such as the Sherriff's office or the nearest State Police office. They are usually very nice and helpful. Probably would be a pretty ride. Running right along the Salmon River. The long way around to Arco ( 28 to 22 ) adds maybe 35 or so additional miles.

There is a stretch from Salmon to Ellis (36 miles) that is not marked for commercial (large) vehicles. Are you actually headed to Arco or else where? At forty feet total who knows?

The FC Bluebird that I test drove was a trade in at a new Bluebird Dealer near Havre de Grace Md. It was probably about the age of your first, Erniee. Wish that I had bough it. A very substantial coach. In my travels spanning a bunch of years, I have seen just a few Vogues. Always like their styling, but never in one.

Back around 1988 I test drove maybe a 35 foot? Bluebird. Had a 3208 Cat for power. Ran well. Your Vogue is sharp looking.

I-70 between St. Louis and Indianapolis
obedb replied to zeboray's question in Destinations/Attractions
Done it for years in 18 wheelers and motorhomes. Have never gotten even a warning from a state cop. In the late 70's the stretch of interstate ( oddly it was I 70 ) from the PA pike to West Virgina was an absolute mess. Left the toll road, got in the left lane and stayed there until WV. Only four wheelers with newly found CB radios complained. I explained why I was staying in the left lane and they understood. Politicians are to blame for the mess regardless of party. Send them a message. -
Pagosa Springs is a favorite of ours. Once considered settling there. Knew an employee of Sealand (regional sales) that left after Maersk bought them. Wound up in Pagosa Springs. Big guy. Became a county prison guard. Might still be there. Temps are fine year round.

Where are you headed from Pagosa Springs?
-
US 84 running with US64 takes you to Chama and they continue together from Chama about 12 miles. Then US 84 heads on to Pagosa Springs while US 64 winds it's way west towards Farmington. Have run from Pagosa Springs to the Sante Fe area on US 84/64 in our 40 foot Phaeton towing a Subaru. No problems at all.

Hints and tips for travel along I-90 from Milwaukee to Gillette

The Rapid City area has a lot to offer as Bill Edwards mentioned. If you have the time going or coming follow Bills reccommendations. At the very least visit Mt. Rushmore. -
I-70 between St. Louis and Indianapolis

Always ran in the left lane when I could. Most of the really rough pavement is in the slow lane (right lane). Illinois is just plain broke. Run the two lanes when you can. Read today that they have close to $300 billion in unfunded pension debt. -
Have never used Blue Beacon for our Phaeton. I know how powerful their sprayers are. Have had some good washes as a trucker and some not so good from that company. After the wash is complete, you pull out and the crew boss looks things over. Not happy? They usually fix it right there. Can't imagine a good wash without brushes being used. Your Newmar is probably more solidly built than most. I thought that you might have a shot at a good wash, but if you check my previous posts, I have never recommended them for motorhomes .

Richard/ Years ago voltage was referred to as 110, then it became 115, and finally 120. We're compressors built to a different spec then and now? Maybe you have been well within specs all along? Good to hear that things went well with your test.

WHERE IS BEST PLACE TO SELL TRUCK SET UP TO FLAT TOW
obedb replied to oldgrape's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I am not selling anything. I tow a 2012 Subaru Forester. A flat towed 4wd F150 is something I do not see regularly in various classifieds that I check from time to time. Just offering a suggestion. Excuse me!🙄 -
Navigating US-50 from Colorado Springs to Grand Junction
obedb replied to Rewillia's question in Destinations/Attractions
Have used both over the years. Perhaps Elk Creek is new and improved? 😎 Patrons are dealing with the Colorado Government. Do not remember 50 amp service, but who knows? Have also used a state camp site in Ridgway Colorado. No 50 amp there that I remember and you pay a charge for towing a vehicle in. We show in the fall so high amps are not needed. The Gunnison KOA is just south of the airport and within the city limits. Not much more than 5 minutes to dinner at the Old Miners Steakhouse or maybe 10 or so to Garlic Mikes as featured on the Travel Channel. McDs is nearby, just across from the Pioneer Museum. We have visited that museum twice and have still not seen it all. Gunnison has pleasant summertime days and cool nights. Gorgeous terrain nearby. Mountains and fishable streams. Pastures with creeks flowing through them, grazing cattle and horses. Always special to us. If you have the time, slow down and enjoy!- 5 replies

WHERE IS BEST PLACE TO SELL TRUCK SET UP TO FLAT TOW
obedb replied to oldgrape's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Look for a site that deals in high end RVs. In 2015 we were next to an absolutely gorgeous 45 foot Prevost conversion towing a King Ranch crew cab 4x4 . Very pleasant gentlemen and we were in the Gunnison KOA. There was a small rally of of Prevost conversions . I felt like the crazy uncle.😉 You have a truck that weighs at least 5200 lbs. Not for your average RVer. -
Navigating US-50 from Colorado Springs to Grand Junction
obedb replied to Rewillia's question in Destinations/Attractions
Gorgeous ride. Have done it in three different Class A units( one rented ), pulling a travel trailer behind our F-150, and a number of times in 18 wheelers. US 50 is in excellent condition from Canon City west. Monarch is one of the higher major passes in Colorado, and 50 has a lot of curves between Canon City and Salida. If you plan to stay at the KOA in Gunnison, try to make reservations for a 50AMP site. Every other site seems to be 30 AMP.- 5 replies

Gorgeous rig and combo.

Bed Makers is the brand name and they market a set of four Sheet Straps. Pulls the corners in tighter. Walmart sells them. Inexpensive. Maybe Amazon also.

We bought our very low mileage Phaeton 2003 a few months before my 70th birthday (2014). Of course, I do the driving, and I am no longer feeling all that permanent at soon to be 74. Recommend that you keep what you have unless you are loaded with dough.🙄

Got you topped, of course much of it was in 18wheelers. Have delivered truck parts and Harleys to Farmington. When I think of that part of New Mexico, Farmington comes quickly to mind. I should have looked at the. Map .🤔 Have come up out of Texas headed to the Salt Lake City area, and that took me through Shiprock, to Montiicello, then north on US191. Agree with Bill on the area.
