I would be weary of weight restrictions as sometimes they are for Bridges's along the route and those bridges don't care if it's a truck or a coach

Try putting a dash cam in the toad and see if you can see what's happening

Did you see if there was a separate audio wire on back of unit if so just unplug it

As ABYRD said older coaches didn't always have transfer switches look in the compartment where the cord is stored for a Square box with a receptacle that matches your cord and plug the cord into it when you are off shore power

A fiver we had several years ago had solar it was great only plugged in in driveway if I needed power

Batteries don't freeze unless they go dead the charger must not have been working for some reason

Fall protection is required by OSHA over 6 ft there are some exceptions with ladders I can't remember the details. When I worked for Amtrak we also had strict requirements on fall protection. They had a portable lift with a jib so when on top of cars you could hook up this could easily be used for an rv or truck. Not something Joe Sixpack would have hanging around.

Seams like the wizards of tree hugging that designed these systems didn't consider seasonal use vehicles that sometimes sit for mounts at a time. Maybe caterpillar was on to something with the system that didn't use Def if they only found a way to prefect it.

Problem with powder coat is its expensive and it will still chips off. I think Herman has the right idea with flex seal or even rhino seal.
