Welcome, but I would seriously consider replacing the tires. You probably will not wear them out they just age out causing them to have internal damage.

We had an adjustable stand to put under the step. Top and bottom was about a 4" square steel plate with a screw adjustment between them. Just be careful to not activate the step with the jack below. I just found the jack on Amazon. One for $15.99 or two for $24.99.

Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk
rossboyer replied to hermanmullins's topic in General Discussion
I found mine in SPAM folder, but it doesn't say that dues will increase to $100.00/year. -
I know, but what needs to be done may not be popular with those that are milking FMCA.

Elect 5 members per area at the same time as Area Presidents are elected. Eliminate all top down financial support for areas. Eliminate National Directors and Alternate National directors since only 3% of the members are also members of chapters. Hold electronic Governing Board meetings with 60 attendees. Executive board members have no vote, only the 50 area representatives. The 50 could be reduced by eliminating some areas, also.

Jon Walker's posting above is right on telling the real truth. The only exception is that I think we are bankrupt. Several years ago, an economic professor did an analysis of FMCA's financial position and stated that when the investments are less than twice the yearly operating expenses, the organization is bankrupt. Prepaid dues must be returned to members, severance pay has to be given to dismissed employees, and property has to be maintained for about two years until the property can be sold. Who ever convinced the Governing Board to pass the budget at Redmond should immediately leave FMCA or FRVA.. The governance of the organization is being driven by 3% of the organization due to chapters serving such a small number of the members. I was the chair of the first committee to recommend a FMCAssit benefit. Back then we could afford it. Regretfully, I am now in favor of dropping that benefit. Convections are no longer viable. Maybe, Area rallies can be the replacement. Governing Board must be smaller and represent the majority of the membership, not just 3% that want to hold on to milking FMCA. Also, Chris Smith was the best CEO we have had for many years, but the Executive Board didn't want to listen. If it were up to me, only one EB member should be kept. i have said my piece, and I know many will not agree. My membership expires near the end of 2027. I will not renew.

In my opinion, wise decision!

Check on Firestones. I and several friends have been using them. Saved a lot.

In your first sentence, I think you mean Executive Board; because only Executive Board members are compensated for travel, lodging, etc. Governing board members which are predominantly National or Alternate Directors are not compensated.

Several years ago, a past Executive Board member that was a professor in economics stated when your investments are less than twice the annual budget the organization is bankrupt because prepaid dues have to be returned, severance pay has to be made and property has to be maintained until sold. There is a lot of commercial property empty and for sale all around the country. FMCA has ceased to be a chapter driven organization which is what the current Executive Board keeps perpetuating. The Governing Board needs to dramatically change. Last I heard the cost for a Governing Board meeting was $80,000. Bet it is more now. The president indicated a possible cancellation of Gillette convention. The GovernIng Board must meet in the central US by order of the Governing Board. Also, the next summer election is to be held at Gillette. Hopefully, the Governing Board will meet and oust all of the Executive Board except for Smith, Treasurer, that has been telling us the real story.

Yes, he has. An announcement email was sent by the President to all Governing Board members, I think. At least, our National Director received it.

Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk

There was an update of the operating system. Several pages were not available, but the IT department corrected connections to all that were reported. I usually take a screenshot of the issue and forward to FMCA. They fix it very rapidly. I was a programmer for 20 years and the expression was: "Only the known bugs are fixed." -
We had a 2006 Expedition which is similar to your Bounder. To remove our tv, i had remove the face frame, 4 screws. There were screws in the plastic foot stand of the tv and wood bar at the top to keep tv in place. The tv was the old crt type and took two people to set it out. I made my new flat screen tv support out of aluminum angle and flat stock from a big box store. The frame was supported at top outside with 1/2" machine bolts which allowed we to pull the tv out at the bottom and used a wood bar to support the tv to install and remove cables. There was enough room behind the tv I moved the bass surround speaker from the floor to that space. I cannot send or post any pictures, because we sold the motor home two years ago.

You can sort the membership for Pinch hit drivers. Some members have signed up to provide this service. Not sure who you called, but I would have called FMCAssist and ask them. Currently, they provide the service for all members.

Keeping Tow Car Relatively Clean
rossboyer replied to davidsuzanne's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Since the fan has not been running, when you start the car following towing, you probably will smell an oder of burning rubber. That is tire dust on the engine being heated. Don't be concerned unless you see excessive tire wear. If you do, your car may need an alignment. -

A solid rock guard the full width of motor home and 4 inches of space between it and ground. Lower will cause a lot of flipped rocks. Higher and you might as well not have it. I think you can search the forum for the same issue was fully covered a few years ago. -
Tire inflation valve extenders on dual wheels with TPMS
rossboyer replied to Imaginair's topic in Modifications
Many truck tire installers have 10" long valve stems that they can bend to fit. They are very solid and will hold the TPMS sensor. -
Toyos ate not made by Michelin or in the FMCA discount,

Actually, I think the decline started when the Executive Board decided to not continue paying Brett Wolfe as moderator. He decided to not continue as chairman of the Technical Review committee for articles in the magazine. He now supporting another forum.

I don’t think the “powers to be” read this forum or really care about us.

Has anyone used an FMCAssist medical evacuation
rossboyer replied to vacationlovers's topic in Membership/Benefits
You first call 911 to handle your emergency. If that facility or wants to have transported somewhere else that is when you need to call FMCAssust. A friend passed in Florida there home is in Indiana. He had specified his body was to be to IU medical system. Prep for that is more expensive than normal embalming or cremation. FMCAssist took care of it, transported remains to IU in Indiana. When I U was done they cremated and delivered to his wife back home. Also, the paid for air flight for there son to Florida to drive and paid expenses to return motor home back to Indiana. FMCAssist is probably the best included benefit that would have cost you more than $120+ a year. -
7500 0nan genset runs, but electricity in rv does not come on
rossboyer replied to kathleennason's topic in Forum Support
Check breakers on the generator. Turn them off and back on to be sure they are in the ON position. While most RV systems give the generator priority, some do not. If you are plugged into shore power, you may need to unplug to allow the transfer unit to switch to generator. Also, the transfer unit may be stuck in the shore power position. You might try hitting the transfer unit with a rubber mallet, gently to see if a contact was stuck and jars loose. Unless you are very familiar with electrical testing, I recommend you do not open the transfer unit. -
Call FMCAssist and ask. Do you have a printed copy of you contract to read? But I think the limit is two people.
