I use Garmin 760, cell phone with google maps, and still drove around in circles for an hour in Dallas last month. Very unhappy when driving something 13-3 tall, 45 feet long and 50,000 pounds.

Best rv gps?mine died Garmin 760, need to replace what is the best these days?

I'm still using my Garmin 760 RV. There are a few models between the 760 and the current model, the 785. If it became necessary to replace mine, I'd look at those in-between models. Lots of them are still available, and even at Amazon prices you can buy one for much less than the latest model.

The Garmin 760RV with lifetime maps is great, but you have to use it in conjunction with a map. It will not always pick the best route. And it does route you differently in RV mode. Like most things you have to learn its limits and how to use it. Ken

I have the Garmin 760, and to my knowledge there is no way to add propane status to the vehicle profile. I've never had it offer any warnings for propane restrictions either, even when going through roads which had a restriction. I've been reading about this, and apparently the propane profile is limited to the dezl 760, and only when operating in truck mode. That may or may not have changed in the 770 versions.

We recently upgraded the stereo in our coach to a new one and picked a unit with Bluetooth. That was easy, and any good auto sound shop should be able to handle that. Getting one with GPS also proved to be more difficult, and in the end I went with a stand alone Garmin 760 GPS. (I believe they've updated to a newer model since we bought ours) The main reason for choosing a stand alone GPS was that I wanted the ability to replace the GPS at a later date without having to replace the stereo with it. GPS technology seems to change and update much faster than for car stereos. The Garmin unit has the built-in RV features you're looking for - it's set up so that you enter the profile for your rig (weight, length, height, etc) and it programs routes for you with those factors in mind. I could not find a combined stereo/GPS unit that could do that.

I'm the owner of this unfortunate Jeep - I met Tireman9 on another forum - I don't think he knew I was a member here when he helpfully posted here looking for input into what happened. We're as certain as we can be that the steering wheel was unlocked when we took off - I stand outside the Jeep while my husband puts it into towing mode, and I watched him unlock the steering column and turn the steering wheel in both directions to make sure it moved freely. We made a right turn out of the RV resort, a more gentle right a couple of hundred feet later onto the highway and then drove straight until the blowout alarm on the TPMS went off. We had the rearview camera on the Jeep (from the hood up and back), and never noticed anything wrong. When we stopped, the front wheels were facing forward, and after the tow truck driver removed the fairing (and we picked up the blown-off fender and driver's door trim up the road a bit) and changed the tire, my husband double-checked that the steering column was still unlocked - it was. By the way, we had had our mechanic install the TPMS just before we left on this trip. In retrospect, I'm sure SOMETHING was visibly wrong - at least two people honked at us as they passed us - and we thought they were just being friendly - not a mistake we'll make again! Our mechanic was sure it was an alignment problem, although it was perfect when we had him check out the Jeep before we bought it from a private party in December - but it was still true, despite the stress it must have been under being dragged with the wheels sideways. We bought 5 new tires (and new metal valve stems), as we didn't trust the not-very-old Chinese tires (Sunfull - DOT 2316, and they were the right size) and the never-used full sized spare got us home, but it was original equipment on the Jeep. Amazingly, our mechanic was able to re-install the plastic fairing, fender and trim after buying new plastic clips and it doesn't look much the worse for wear. We have a Garmin 760 GPS which we had paired with a rearview camera in our previous rig, which we did not take off when we sold it, so I bought a new rearview camera which we are going to mount much lower than the integrated camera on the back of the HR. We even investigated having the mechanic remove the steering lock mechanism, but it would be very costly for labor due to the airbag - he talked us out of it, and doubted that that was what happened. There are no open recalls or reports on problems with the steering column on the Jeep Liberty, and the "death wobble" that has been reported in Jeep Wranglers and/or Cherokees (can't recall which) relates to a front end mechanical set-up that is not relevant to the Liberty (so I've been told). But I am still uneasy at the idea that we may never know what caused the wheels to turn and for us to drag the Jeep that way for possibly 20 miles, or how to make sure it will never happen again. Next on the list of things to investigate - is it possible the Blue Ox tow arm didn't lock on one side? Could that have caused the front wheels to get stuck sideways after making the right turn out of the parking lot? I don't like mysteries - I'm a scientist, and this is something that should be answerable, dammit! Now, I'm uneasy about our upcoming 5000+ mile summer trip. Haven't found an app yet that I liked, but the Garmin 760 seems to be a good unit for us. It is aimed at RV owners, and the user sets a profile with the dimensions and weight of the RV. When the Garmin sets a route it configures it with the vehicle perimeters. When I've driven without using the Garmin to set the route first, it will inevitably start screaming at me about weight restrictions, height restrictions, etc. That's why I try never to go anywhere in the bus without first setting the route - just to easy to make a casual 'shortcut' turn only to find myself on a road with a weight restriction I was unaware of.

I've been using the Garmin 760 with pretty good success. The biggest issue for us has been when I don't have it plot the route and try to wing it on my own. Inevitably I'll end up with the thing screaming at me about a weight limit. Now I try to use the Garmin for everything unless I know the route to be safe. The Garmin does consider vehicle height, length, width, and weight. It won't create a route that would be a problem unless there are no other options, and then it warns you at the outset that there will be issues.

I also you CO-Pilot and I also have a Garmin 760RV GPS and both allow input of weight and size of your RV and finds routes that are suitable. CO-Pilot and Garmin agree most of the time. I also have a built in Rand McNally that also takes the specs from your RV but seems to route down a lot of two lane roads that are questionable RV routes. There is several versions of CO-Pilot and I have the one made for RVs.

We also have a Garmin 760 and are very happy with it. That being said, we did have a trip where it tried to put us on a road which was not fit for a motorhome. Thankfully a local came by. He said his truck wouldn't even fit on the road the GPS was sending us and gave us directions to get back to a major road. Yes, I did contact Garmin and notified them of the problem. Lessons learned!! Don't trust your GPS as your only source to get you there!! As I indicated, and I have had several GPS's, I find the one I have, Garmin 760 LMT to be the better of the bunch. I don't know about the 770 LMT but if it is half as good as the 760 it is a good buy. My iPhone 7 is good also but doesn't have the features for an RV that the Garmin has. DW's iPhone 6 is the same but she uses it and her iPad Pro as the right seat navigator. I don't think any of them are infallible. I rely on my navigator (DW) but one time her iPad mapping system said to take "sage" road and my Garmin wanted me to take a different route. We followed DW's instructions and on the Sage Rd I was almost able to see the license plate on the TOAD going around some of the turns. Hey, it happens, right? I would strongly suggest that if one knows the night before where they are going to use the internet mapping system to scope out the route. It has made me change my GPS's route a few times. Use the satellite view to see what the road really looks like. Happy trails.

Curious Bill, why don't you recommend the RV version of CoPilot? I use the Garmin 760LMT, Google maps and Truckers Atlas. Trust but Verify.

Good Sam has a trip planner program where you can decide what you want to see on your trip, rv parks,fuel stops etc. With a garmin 760 rv gps you can program the size of your rig,type of roads and you can program how much of a warning you want for sharp curves exits and bridge hieghts. With my previous coach, I purchased a Garmin 760 with the intent to use their wireless cam system. The 760 was great. Bluetooth, voice command, quick. Problem that I had was the backup camera. The first camera wouldn't link up, so I returned it for a replacement. Same problem with the second camera. I concluded that the issue may well be the 760 itself, so I returned everything. Haven't replaced the GPS yet for the new coach. I'm not debating whether to go with the Garmin again or to opt to go to the Magellan. Bluetooth is important to me so that I can have hands free phone use while driving (if needed). I believe both units have it. The Garmin does have voice command which is very nice. Don't think the Magellan has that. 7 inch screen is very nice. I'm leaning toward the Garmin, but there's a significant price differential between the two units (Garmin being higher priced, of course). Let me know which way you go and your thoughts.
