Herman, Very unusual for the one mounted on the front to not have pressure. If there was check valve in the line, then it would be for maintaining pressure in the coach system by feeding air from the tow truck. So I say False. One does not want the pressure to drop to a point where the park brakes come on. Without a check valve in the connection at the front one could use it for an air source and still reverse feed the air tanks to maintain at least 65lbs. of air in the system. If your 98 coach was setup that way, its was setup very different them most. My set up allows for air to be pumped into the system at a point on the air dryer and that point could be adapted to a high pressure supply point. Rich.

Hi Fred, Welcome to FMCA ! There is a convenience air connection on many of the coaches, so list the make of your chassis and coach manufacturer for the group. There is always a catch 22 though. Some of those connections have a limited air pressure of 65lbs. because of a PPV(preset pressure valve) between the 120lb. tank and the connection. Rich.

When you connected to shore power and the Detector went off, what was the charge current or voltage reading of the coach batteries? Its been about 45 min. since your post, have you been able to reset it? And what is the current voltage level reading of the coach batteries? Rich.

Tom, Glade to hear the damage to the sidewall of the coach was not that bad. The DW has been going through the double vision issue for the last 2 years. Its kind of under control with special lenses, but when they get out of ajustment she has 2 of everything cumming at her. Makes for some interesting reactions with vehicles coming down the road ! We wish Louise a quick recovery ! -
Cadiwa! You might want to give Country Coach a call and get information directly from them. At that time you can also ask them if there is a separate fuse / relay panel for the towing circuits and where its located. Also ask if they could supply you with the chassis electrical drawings. Andy, that being the case, then you might try these two links. Think race Car surge tanks might work and they are less then the one you are looking at. Duke, is it a overflow tank? Should that be the case, then it's not under pressure like an expansion tank. The coolant is forced out from the radiator at the cap area when things heat up, into the overflow tank and is drawn / sucked beck into the radiator when the system cools down. There is a sensor, I think supplied by the company on another page of there catalog and could very well work. I know I read some info. on them in the catalog. will check it out in the meantime. Rich.

Eddie, from you description it sure sound like its riveted in place. I have to remove mine from time to time to repaint the grill. Never been able to get a seal on the back surface to keep it from rusting and spreading to the front area. Rich

OJ, Did you get any service records with the coach? What was the mileage when you got the coach and what is the current mileage? Allison does recommend there TRS 295 syn for the 1000 series to extend the service intervals. 1000 MH Main filter is a Spin-On Canister – Deep Oil Pan 14.8 quarts. (14.0) L. – Shallow Oil Pan 12.7 quarts (12.0) L. You may need more fluid if you change from Dex to Syn. to flush the system and to change all the filters at that time. What one uses in there transmission really depends on factors, like how many miles you drive, (the kind of terrain and the load, how dusty the conditions) These items determine severer or nominal use. and how long one plans to keep the coach. I would think you would fall into the general category. DEX.= 50,000 mi. / 2000 hrs. / 24 months SYN. = 100,000 mi. / 4000 hrs. / 48 months. You need to decide if the cost difference is worth the return on investment. Rich.

Nick, the recall should be logged in the Workhorse records using the Vin Number. I got a feeling your unit might have fallen through the cracks !!! The campaign started in January of this year. Did you get a notice regarding this recall? zorro2kita, When you mention fading, are you referring to the intensity of the display or the light level of the cluster while driving at night? Trying to understand if its a LED display intensity level or the back lighting when you are driving at night. Be aware that tampering with the cluster can cause it to lock up and it will need to be replaced !!! Rich.

The issue regarding the length of the yellow warning at camera controlled intersection has surfaced in our area. The cameras only work as well as the software controlling them and over a 1000 tickets where issued for one of the cameras. NOT one of the drivers where aware of the Timing issue for the length of the yellow. Until a driver with the help of an attorney challenged the issue in regards to the length of the yellow. State was requested to check the system with the attorney present. The yellow was less then 1 second. law requires no less then 3 seconds. Now the the company and the city are in a legal fight over who is responsible for refunding the fees charged for the wrongfully issues tickets. A minimum of 50,000 dollars and the time and cost of removing the bad ticket from all those that received a ticket because of the technical problem; and getting the Insurance increased premium fees because of them reduced and the over charge returned, could go on for some time. The fact that the company or the city have not come to a resolution, there is a good chance the courts will order them to be turned off. I see both the good and bad side of the issue of cameras, but the the system needs the cameras to log every cycle. Print the cycle time of the lights on the picture taken. The cameras used at intersections with speeds above 30 mph. must have a flashing interval of 2 seconds for each 5 mph increase in the speed limit above 30 mph. This is needed to allow the driver, an advanced warning of the status of the intersection light and the pending red. This would extend the intersection timing and reduce the number of vehicles passing through these intersections, but the areas of the country that chose to use them, need to know there is a tradeoff. Wounder if you could post 2 or 3 pictures of the area for the group. They use many different layouts when it comes to the structures they attach the hinge and lift supports, that pictures could help in getting a real view of the area. Rich

Ray, You might want to connect a 12 volt charging wire / circuit to the toad battery. Back feed relay and a diode to isolate the coach and toad 12 volt systems. The other item you should check into. I have a strong feeling that you 06 model year coach already comes with the extra fuse / relay box. Might be worth looking into. The one they hide in the rear area of the coaches. Should your coach have this item it gives you some convenient options. Rich.

Thanks Ray! That sure looks like the way it needs to be removed. The clearance between the frame rail and engine is 6 an 1/4 in. that is the tight spot !!! Well, along with getting ones hands, arm and a wench into the space. Thinking that I would need to drain the power steering reservoir, remove the low pressure line and hope that the high side line will move enough so the power steering pump clear the air compressor like you mentioned. There is one cooling line that runs under the area, so that water line will need to be removed. The high pressure oil feed line connectors are rusted and they are in a tight spot. That line needs to be removed. The air in and out lines need to be removed from the top area of the compressor also. Then hopefully the pump can be pulled back enough to clear the drive gear. The only other item that could be an issue is getting the top of the compressor to clear as it drops down between the engine block and frame rail. Just hope that I can find an inside space to work on it, as its already getting on the cool to cold side this far north. I do have one more shop that will look at it an give me a price. Hopefully I can get it in this coming week. Then I need to order a pump, as they are rebuilt only on request and not a stock item at the time. LOL Rich.

Well, after driving the coach to a dealer, Brett! depends work well to keep the oil contained, but it is a wee bit tight to get it wrapped. I got some feedback regarding the air compressor replacement, after having it looked at. Because of the tight area the compressor is located, I got a price for labor only and it kind of buckled my knees. With the cost of parts and labor it was close to $ 3000.00. One gets the feeling that its not a job they want to do. So I'm going to keep looking or see if one of my contacts has a hole in there shop that I could us for a few days the tackle the thing. Will start to spray the bolts with some penetrating oil and loosen things up on my own in the meantime. Rich.

This filter is often missed when changing the fuel filters on freightliner chassis, so to clarify its location and the replacement number the following information should be helpful. ISB-02 In-Line Fuel Filter/Strainer Cummins ISB-02 engines have an in-line fuel filter/strainer along with the fuel water separator. The Filter/Strainer is a 104 micron filter used to screen large contaminates from the fuel tank to the fuel system lift pump. Located on left side frame rail behind the rear axle, near the transmission and is hard to see because it is small and black in color. This fuel strainer can become clogged and cause the engine to have poor performance and loss of power. Or worse case, deprive the engine of enough fuel that it shuts down completely. The part number is RAI 025RAC10 and can be purchased through any Freightliner dealer. In Line Strainer==== Racor RAI-025RAC1 Fuel strainer may be located in one of two positions: 1) Inside the left frame rail just behind the engine near the transmission. 2) Located inside a cushion clip, mounted off the left side of the engine. It hangs just below the frame rail. Fuel strainer is black in color, just less than 5in. long. Rich.
