Take the Tension off the belt by using the proper tool to release the auto tensioner. Work the belt off over the fan 1 or 2 fan blades at a time - this will allow you to work the belt out between the fan and the CAC and the shroud around the radiator and CAC . Reverse the process to replace the serpentine belt. You might need to remove the AC drive belt if your coach has a separate belt for the AC compressor. Unlikely though. The serpentine belt is usually the farthest from the engine. Rich.

Joe, glad that it is handling better. The size of the coach and some crosswind can be challenging. Low profile vehicles do handle better for sure. The DW lovers her little sports coup - quick and handles well under most conditions. When I take out the Texas Cadillac( 3/4 ton Suburban) in the same conditions it can also get a little challenging in cross winds. Rich.

New Water Pump Will Not Prime
dickandlois replied to jenmacias2015's topic in Systems and Appliances
Jen, you do have an air leak in the plumbing system. The fact that the pump works moving water from a bucket - eliminates the pump. Questions Is the pump mounted higher then the water supply point for the pump? Have you connected the coach to a city water supply? If so does everything work normally? with no leaks? When the pump and water filter was installed - did you use some Teflon tape on the threaded connections? By chance is there a shutoff valve between the supply side of the pump and the water tank, also, is the plumbing set up with bypass plumbing that allows you to fill the water tank from city water? Leaving this by pass valve open just a little, would prevent the pump from priming? Even the smallest leak can prevent the pumps from priming. Rich.- 18 replies

Making it Personal - Do you have an RV Motto?
dickandlois replied to Rewillia's topic in Type A motorhomes
Living in the North country my whole life , we where taught that cold weather builds character. Thing is if it's real cold for to long the character can get a little grumpy! Happening more as the years go by and skiing and Snowmobiling are not as much fun. Rich. -
Total missed the fact that the Governor replacement did not solve the problem. My bad. Like Brett - mentioned the purge valve, but you should hear air leaking from the bottom of the dryer assembly / purge valve. The air line between the compressor and the dryer failed on my couch and because of the engine noise and the routing of the line the leak was not audible. It all started with a slower then normal pressure recovery. The New air line has a stainless steel braiding wrapped around the outside. It would be a bummer to pull the compressor only to find out it was the air discharge line. One might be able to place some thing over the air intake and see if the compressor is attempting to draw in air. Do not want something that could be sucked into the intake. Strip on neoprene ? Compressor is gear driven, single cylinder in most cases, around 10 CFM, Not really much different then a single cylinder 4 cycle gas engine. Rich.

Richard, the DOT regulations have been rewritten over the years. So recertification my well be in order, but the rest of the system should be fine. Glad you are having the copper lines replaced. Did have one fail at the flaring and the LP created an impressive plum behind the Class C. We where running the Trans Canadian at the time. Decided not to stop - just stayed at 65 MPH - Turned off the refrigerator and hopped that nothing light up the plum. Thank emptied in about 5 min. Rich.

Bill, glad you had a spare and like Brett said; they are prone to failing. Problem solver label fit the bill on this one. With the temperature being so low, any moisture in the governor would surely freeze things up. The weather is warming and we hope to make a run for it. Within the next 36 hrs. or so. Time to leave - although it sure has looked very much like a scene from a Currier and Ives card. A horse and slay would work well, but not meant for large vehicles. Rich.

The Coach is a 2002 Winnebago, but not sure it is wired for 50 amp or 30 amp. shore power. OP did not include the Model. Rich.

Herman, I use a Werner 2 steel Step Stool, Give you an 8ft. reach. It stores easy and is very stable. Might want a 3 step. Rich.

MW and Richard. Think they are offering the Gas Engine until they find a setup for the Diesel that will pass the EPA standards. The van market is a good sized section of there market in the States. A high bread electric using a small diesel or gas engine might be there solution. Electric drive system for a heaver class vehicle is well within a possible solution. Weight to torque and size of the motors that perform well using fuel cell or batteries might take some time before it is marketable. Rich.

Rick, Where do you find a location with no snow The sky sure looks like what we are seeing up North ! Rich. -
This information might be of help. At least you can look it over or a member might have some good feedback. Lemp offered a good possibility. I have run into a number of units that squeal. That noise comes from the oil-lite bearings in the blower motor. They can be lubricated using Silicon based oil or grease. No all the tricky, but takes some time to work it into the oil-lite bushings. There are some pictures in the information an if the motor was changed with a new one the noise should have not come back in a short amount of time? Could you post the kind of noise you are hearing, a Squealing sound, rattling sound or more of a buzz ? Rich. Colemen_BasementA-CRemovalProcedure.pdf Reading up on the basement AC units and found out that parts for the older models where discontinued in 2010 - when R-410 replaced R-22. You mentioned that the service center replaced the motor for $750.00 -wounding where they got it from? The blower motors should be the same, but the compressor unit would have been changed to work on the R-410 Freon. Although you did not mention any problems with it cooling. Just the noise. And if it is not a squalling - then it becomes a mounting, balance issue with the blower fan or possible loose motor mount. Loose, missing screw(s) or damaged squirrel cage fan. R-22 is a single-component refrigerant, whereas R-410A is a 50/50 blend consisting of R-32 and R-125. Higher pressure requirements.

Thanks Mike. Better then sitting in on a chemistry lesson. That I have not attended in many years! That was way before Bio-Fuels. Rich.

Yes, Thanks Mike. The information fills in some of the gaps that I have had regarding the low temperature information. The cloud point has always been an item just on the other side of the door. Rich.

Richard, the picture Blake posted. As promised, here's a picture of the spare propane tank for our forklift. This is the spare one I got off of Craiglslist. Just picked noticed the label - and the tank was made by Manchester. Rich.

Good thought Brett ! One could get a Yeti hard side cooler. They are a little expensive, but will keep thing frozen or cold longer then many other makes. Rich.

Fl. East coast to start. Might need to go to the Gulf side. will just go with the flow, weather has changed the itinerary a bit. Rich.

I do have some experience with "Lake Effect Snow". I grew up on lake Erie at the NY state line well 6 miles east. I had a uncle in Rochester who worked for Kodak. Where are you heading, what route? Bill, Sounds like the Ripley area. Well, the Rt. south is 390 to Rt.15 / 99 to 180 to Rt.83 to Rt. 77 East.down to Rt.40 West to Rt. 123 to Rt.95. Missing the larger metropolitan areas. So with snow and ice in the south. Will just watch the weather for a 2 day warm up and make a dash south. Right now it is 3 deg. and it looks like fog, but it is snow suspended in the air blowing around, with a wind chill of -25. Rich.

Herman, Like the information ! The last sentence sounds like that of a Philadelphia lawyer. Rich.

Dusty, Welcome to the Forum! When it gets this cold the compressor will actually warm the interior of the refrigerator. The system kind of turns into a heat pump! If it is an absorption style unit it will work the same way. Note, It might be advisable to start an absorption unit in the LP mode. This mode will raise the coil temperature slower - the main reason the absorption units fail is failure of the silver solder joints and the difference of the expansion rates of the materials. Stopping at a rest area in winter to get a drink from a vending machine that sets out side in the weather. The bottles never freeze unless the power goes off. Should the interior temperature of the coach be bellow freezing - start to warm the coach by what ever means you wish. We always leave the refrigerator doors open while storing. That action will warm the compressor and raise the interior temp of the fridge. From there everything should work as expected. Rich.

Thanks Brett ! Do let it slip through your fingers Rich.

Rich, I believe it was in the 50's in Katy today. Thanks Jim ! really nice to know that at least there is some warmer air somewhere. If you can hang onto some for us - it would be appreciated. Rich.

Bill. Erie is around 160 miles west of us. We live off Rt. 104, that magic ridge that gets the snow south of the lake, but when it is this cold and with some wind the snow is very dry and fluffy it can carry over the ridge add up fast. Back in 65 the weather forecast was for 3 to 6 in. and a big Low pressure got stuck on the East coast. We wound up with 3 to 4 feet and strong wind that made some impressive drifts . we where able to walk right over 4 ft. fences and do some sledding off the roof of the house,(with my little naphues) where the drifts formed. This time it is another low pressure area on the coast. People got berried in there cars and where found as the roads where plowed. So we will see if get to measure it in inches or feet. The big lawn tractor has an ignition issue, but I just figured I would not need to hookup the snowblower to the PTO. Hay I'm leaving for the winter - will clean things up in April. LOL Mother nature is laughing - got you old guy! Rich.

Eric, Warranty starts when you sign the papers, not when the coach is shipped from the factory. Rich.
