I have a two year old granddaughter that will be too old to drive when they finish the road construction around Fort Worth.

We keep the black closed and the gray open. However, we have some friends that have two of the new electric toilets that keep both tanks open. Apparently the new toilets use enough water with each flush to keep the black tank "clean."

This coach and our previous coach, both ACs, have used the SensaTank Level Monitoring System. It's the only system that has worked for us. Don't know if this is the exact one, but it will get you in the area: http://www.levelguardproducts.com/marine-rv/rv-multi-tank-monitor.php

pal 1955, if you like Hondas, any CRV, model year 2014 and earlier, is towable four down...both FWD and AWD.

Don't know if there any other Huey drivers in the group, but in a Huey after setting it down upon hovering to parking (a hover is the power equivalent of cruising), the throttle is rolled down to idle for two minutes...then it is shut down.

Just binged it, nice looking rig...back to a gasser?

AC, in their infinite wisdom, have reduced the black tank to 40 gallons. Our 09 Allegiance was also 40 gallons.

Several years ago, I was flying a corporate jet and we had a trip to northern Canada. We got picked up (after securing are aircraft in a heated hanger) by our customers and during the drive to the motel made a comment about how much those folks must appreciate their vehicle's garages. Much to out surprise the driver said most people don't have garages, they start their diesel trucks in the fall and shut them off in the spring. My DD's manual says emphatically, not to idle it for a long time. Should idling be necessary for cabin heat or cooling, the high idle setting should be used.

Agree, USAA has changed a lot since I joined in the 60s...and not for the good.
-
You can get a much better rate with Progressive if you go to an agent and have him/her shop for you. Progressive through USAA is high.

Yep, that's the understatement of the day. Above 60 and the mileage really heads south.

I got an add from Good Sam, stating they average saving the consumer over $350 per policy. When I called, the lady said they search the big companies to find a policy that meets the customer's needs. Bottom line, they saved me over $600 for identical coverage with the exception of a higher deductible...which I wanted. The new policy is from a big name company.

Camping World Is Highest Bidder For Gander Mountain

I've been in one Gander, one time...didn't buy anything and have never gone in another...not impressed. -
Nope, Freightliner SLM. 2013, 14 and 15 are all on Freightliner. 500 HP and above get the SLM, less than 500 HP get the XCM. Don't know about the newer ones.

Decision: Winnebago Tour, Newmar Dutchstar or Tiffin Allegro Bus

Floor plan is key, most of the other characteristics of these three (and American Coach) should be about the same. -
One of the coolant problems is that the chassis manufacturer puts the coolant in the MH, not the engine maker. In my case, DD uses Extended Life Coolant (ELC) where Freightliner uses standard ethylene glycol. I had already purchased a gallon of ELC, before I found out that it is the wrong coolant.

Same here. When my dash AC is turned on the MPG goes down about 1.5 when the big side radiator fan comes on....which it does every time.

I have used JG Lube for several years for both trans fluid and engine oil. Their reports are very detailed and very good...they recommend the advanced analysis kit. For a few more bucks you get lots more information. I have called them on several occasions with questions and for some more information. Twice I talked to Tom Johnson, the retired Allison engineer, and owner of the company. He will happily talk with you and provides great information.

Our Maiden Voyage: Any Tips Or Wisdom To Offer?
five replied to joanesh's topic in General Discussion
Make check lists, I have several...a what to take list (mine is by room...kitchen, bed room, etc), what to leave when stored, a day prior list (put away lawn chairs, roll up patio rug, etc), an outside departure list (sewer hose, cable, water, antenna, etc), an inside departure list (refer doors secure, cabinets locked, roof vents closed, table lamps put way, etc), a clothes list, a list for the toad (set up procedures).... these lists are changing, things being added/deleted as needed. Be especially careful idling through a CG going to your space. Many CGs like to put big rocks or 6 x 6s embedding in concrete on turns. And, equally important, use a ground guide when backing. Your ground guide should always be able to see one of your mirrors (then you can see him/her) and should be walking back and forth in back of the RV so he/she can see both sides as well as the rear. While you are doing all these things, remember, this is supposed to be fun!- 9 replies

There is a reset on the inverter...just hard to find. Call the inverter company tomorrow.

Put it in your GPS or phone and select "no interstates." I' ve been on I40 since before it was finished...but still a lot faster than the US highways...and traffic lights and stop signs.

NBC News....didn't know they were still on the air.

Agree, good advice. You don't want to ride all the way home holding your breath.
