Same here, Carl. Our last cruise was with American Cruise Lines from Portland, OR, up the Columbia and Snake Rivers to Clarkston. Only hassle was getting home at the end...at least it wasn't on United.

Agree...that would be one tough ride. I know lots of folks enjoy AK in a MH...I prefer the back of a 767 and a rent car.

Residential Refrigerator Compressor Noise
five replied to debbie100's topic in Systems and Appliances
Spent a month in Biloxi in Jan with no problems at all. However, I have had the AC Overload light come on the Magnum remote a couple of times recently....which is what started the process of tracking down the lost ground. What doesn't compute is that light comes on when it is sitting in storage with no AC items on except the charger. It stays on very briefly, then goes back to Float charge and acts normally. Always something! -
It's a great little shop. They encourage customers to wander around the shop...which I do to point out some of the hard to see lube points. It is an Allison service center also. I've been going there six years, it's been $65 the entire time (and no tax since I'm out of state and it's maintenance)...which happens to be their hourly rate. I bit less than the $135 an hour I paid at Freightliner last month.

Residential Refrigerator Compressor Noise

As Carl noted, the way American Coach built their coaches, was to have two entirely separate systems. One inverter/charger dedicated to the residential refer, the other inverter/charger for everything else in the coach. The previous owner of my coach opted for the same eight 6 volt house batteries but only one inverter/charger. -
I change my own car/truck oil, but do not do the MH. This beast takes 42 quarts, which is roughly 75 pounds. Too much to move easily and just too much to fool with. I have a mom and pop diesel shop, whos primary business is rebuilding engines, who changes my oil and does a chassis lube for $65. I supply the oil and filter. Not worth me getting dirty for that price.

It is, or at least could be. We'll see how Brett's efforts work out. In the past there was not enough posts to make even worth looking at more than once a month.

I'm a member of that club, but I only go there once a month or so. I've had four new messages last time I checked. Be a great forum if we could gin up more members.

Looks good, but keep an eye on those zip ties.

I like the Rand McNally Road Atlas and Festival Guide. Not only is it reasonably priced and has good maps, it lists all the Walmarts and Sams stores and gives their addresses.

Black Water Tank, Store Or Flow Through?
five replied to dlfishing's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
I do the same thing. However, we have some friends with two electric toilets...that use lots of water. They leave the black tank open and have not had a problem with all the water the electric toilets use. -
One of the problems with the newer coaches is that they have put in the nice electric toilets, but have not increased the size of the black tanks. In our last coach, with the older toilets, we could go well over a week without dumping the black tank...now it is half that.

Be nice if you could add the make/model of your coach and trailer. These beasts are capable of towing very little to 20k. Get your calculator out and figure what you can tow based on the ratings and your GVWR and GCWR.

Have you tried to reset the system? Push and hold the power button for about 10 seconds, when it beeps it is reset.

Understand, Herman, but we have a long standing policy of giving millions of dollars to countries that hate us.

Brett, you have omitted one key factor and player in the coach selection process...our spouses. If it comes between the floor plan she likes or the engine/trans/chassis I like...I lose. However, one day a while back I told her I was going down the MH to change the spark plugs...I got this 'over the glasses look' and she said, "I don't know much about the engine in that beast, but I know it doesn't have any spark plugs!"

This thread is a good reason to have AGM batteries...install them and forget about them.

The problem in ANC is they are running out of room. They encourage "burial" in a columbarium. Eventually they will restrict in ground burials to military retirees/spouses and KIAs. Several years ago, my wife's uncle and aunt died, he was a surgeon in WW II, but not a retiree. Since I was the military guy in the family, I did the leg work with ANC...no problem with a columbarium.

How does 12R compare to 315 or 295?

The best analogy for the AH is that it should run just like a natural gas furnace at home. It should cycle on and off, and when on, blow strong warm air out all vents. Installing the vents where they are blocked by the slides in is incredibly stupid. Thor should make their design engineers spend a week in coaches they design. Another suggestion for the OP is, assuming this coach has a forward slideout generator, is to slide the gen full out. Then go in the gap between the gen and the outside of the dashboard and patch all the gaps in the dash, that are letting air in, with insulation and Gorilla tape. Did that on a previous coach and it was a big help.

I don't fool with these diesels. This is the fourth one for me, and I get nothing but OEM parts. It's not worth screwing something up to save a few bucks.

I keep a number of my lists in my MH "go book"...good CGs, good places for service, good things to see, etc. Angelos is now on one of the lists, not the one they want to be on.

Don't know about Delo, but Rotella carries 6 single gallons per case at my Sams...I need two cases.

No, didn't think it was a fuel problem. I had run 800 miles on the same tank of fuel when it lost prime. I quit using Loves several years ago...first they gave me **** for using the 18 wheeler lanes, said I should use the RV lane, which would have blocked the majority of the people parked in front of the store. Then they wanted to know how much fuel I wanted in dollars, and actually ran my card for that amount before I pumped any fuel.
