  1. It is virtually impossible to determine DEF usage other than doing it yourself in your coach. As Joe noted, it is very different for each vehicle. I've given up trying to determine usage, and keep the DEF level between half and 3/4, and always carry an extra 2 1/2 gallon jug from Walmart in the basement.
  2. I've been out of the net....the information I posted on 6/18 is from one of the FMCA officers. There will be a vote to decide the towable membership issue. If you don't vote, don't complain, regardless of the outcome.
  3. This answer makes sense. No hot air is being pumped through the coach unless the "heat' option is selected on the thermostat.
  4. Call REV Group that now owns Monaco.

    RV Envy

Get what you need and want that fits your budget and life style. We have friends that down sized from a Newell to a small Class B on a Mercedes chassis....no longer wanted the hassle of a big rig and all the 'stuff' that goes with it.
  6. The answer is easy....follow the money. The FMCA Assist Program is very expensive. Very briefly, if you are on the road and have some type medical emergency, it covers emergency medical evacuation/repatriation, emergency reunion, return of dependents, pet return, vehicle return and prescription and glasses replacement. This is a no charge service to dues paying members. Greater detail and explanation can be found on line. The second most costly thing FMCA provides is the magazine. They have raised the annual dues, but are still losing money. The only way to stay financially afloat, and keep the FMCA Assist Program, is to generate more revenue and/or reduce expenses. Permitting towables to join would greatly increase the revenue. So the bottom line is, if FMCA is going to keep FMCA Assist, towables will have to be permitted to join. If members do not want FMCA Assist, it can be eliminated and things will go back to the way they were....no towables, no FMCA Assist.
  7. I had a similar experience. The hardware does not seem to be a problem, but the lights give them fits. On one occasion, when I tracked my problem down, it was just plain sloppy work...a wire bundle suspended in the air by a short piece of wire...rather than putting in a longer piece of wire that would not be holding up the whole thing.
  8. I had a similar problem, the motor ran but the hose did not move. So I took the panel off, pulled the hose out manually and rewound it with the motor. The motor was okay, but the hose was twisted on the reel and would not move.
  9. A point of clarification. Memorial Day is not a day to honor veterans...that's Veteran's Day, Nov 11 each year. The official definition of Memorial Day is to honor any person who died while serving on active duty. However, most military people think of Memorial Day as a day to honor those killed in action.

    Fuel Fill Cap

    Thanks for the suggestions.
  11. Bill is correct. In Nov 14, we went to Honda to get a 15 CRV, that's when we found out they now use a CVT transmission and they can't be towed four down. I sent Honda a snail mail letter with a copy of Motor Home magazine's article saying the CRV was the favorite tow vehicle for MH drivers. Got a letter back and a number to call. I called the number but the guy didn't really seen too concerned....we ended up with a 14 CRV.

    Fuel Fill Cap

Fuel caps ties must be really high dollar items since my coach did not come with one on either cap. Thus when refueling, sometimes there is no place to put the cap except in the ground. A poster on another forum suggested drilling a small hole through the raised ridge on the cap, and running a piece of fishing line through the hole and securing it, then securing the other end to something in side the fuel door. My question and concern is whether or not the ridge on the cap is hollow or solid. If hollow some of the small pieces of plastic that resulting from drilling the hole could end up in the fuel tank. If that ridge is solid, should be no problem.
  13. Another vote for the CRV. Light, reliable, seats four, fold down rear seats, good economy, FWD or AWD, etc. We are on CRV number two.
  14. When we were MH shopping, if a coach had an oven, it was ruled out. We would rather have a micro/convection and the storage space you gain without an oven. What some manufacturers are doing, which makes no sense to me, is to put in a residential refer, an Aqua Hot and a propane stove and oven.

  16. Joe...never heard the five year/seven year rules...is that a PA law?
  17. Thanks, Joe, good information.
  18. I never have understood the logic in wanting to deodorize the black or gray tanks....be like deodorizing a septic tank at home. The key to keeping the tanks working properly, especially the black tank, is lots and lots of water. All these tank additives do is make a contribution to the manufacturer's bottom line. I have a tank flusher that I seldom use. When I do use it, normally nothing comes out but clear water.
  19. We keep a copy of "The Next Exit" with us. Has all the fuel stops across the country's interstate system...and notes which are 'big rig' friendly. Also has eateries and places of interest. https://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Next-Exit-2017-USA-Interstate-Highway-Exit-Directory/55312807?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=2078&adid=22222222222000000000&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=e&wl1=o&wl2=c&wl3=10352200394&wl4=kwd-1103028060075&wl12=55312807_10000002159&wl14=the next exit 2017&veh=sem
  20. I have a two year old granddaughter that will be too old to drive when they finish the road construction around Fort Worth.
  21. We keep the black closed and the gray open. However, we have some friends that have two of the new electric toilets that keep both tanks open. Apparently the new toilets use enough water with each flush to keep the black tank "clean."
  22. This coach and our previous coach, both ACs, have used the SensaTank Level Monitoring System. It's the only system that has worked for us. Don't know if this is the exact one, but it will get you in the area: http://www.levelguardproducts.com/marine-rv/rv-multi-tank-monitor.php
  23. pal 1955, if you like Hondas, any CRV, model year 2014 and earlier, is towable four down...both FWD and AWD.
  24. Don't know if there any other Huey drivers in the group, but in a Huey after setting it down upon hovering to parking (a hover is the power equivalent of cruising), the throttle is rolled down to idle for two minutes...then it is shut down.
  25. Just binged it, nice looking rig...back to a gasser?
