    Change Your Own Oil

One deceiving point regarding number of views is the number of times the same person has viewed it. This is post number 83. If the thread has received five posts a day, that means it's been a topic for about 17 days...which means I've been counted as a viewer 17 times. Herman makes a good point about the gas vs diesel...my coach holds 50+ quarts and it takes 41/42 at change time. I change oil in my other vehicles...not this one.

    Inverter On or Off?

There is absolutely no standardization on these beasts.
  3. Can't go wrong with OEM. I spent many hours trying to find a basic oil filter for my DD 500. The filter part number is a dozen numbers long and I could find many filters very very close, maybe off by a number or two...and they all looked "right." I finally tracked down a DD tech who told me it must be the exact number...period. After many hours, I finally found a Freightliner dealer who sold OEM filters...got a couple. I had a Cummins ISL prior to the DD...Cummins filters are everywhere!!

    Inverter On or Off?

The inverter does not charge the batteries...the charger does. Therefore, unless you have one switch that controls both functions, you do not need the inverter on. I have two sets of switches...charger on/off and inverter on/off. The charger is on all the time, the inverter is turned on when we need to to "invert" something.

    Inverter On or Off?

I called Magnum this morning and asked the tech this question. Bottom line is it makes no difference...leave it on or off until you need it. The only thing she emphasized was that it should not be left on when in storage. If the power should go off and the inverter start working, eventually it would run down the batteries. I leave mine off, until we need it.
  7. 2009 Allegiance 40X...FYI, that dealer is no longer in business.
  8. Also, the diesel burner will not work if the fuel in the main tank is lower than a certain point.
  9. I'm following an interesting discussion on another forum re the subject. Some say "on" never turn it off. Others say "off" never turn it on (except to use it). I don't see why you would leave it on and subject it to all that wear and tear for nothing. On the other hand, I can see leaving it on if traveling or if expecting to lose shore power. What's the consensus here?
  10. Can't help you much with your problem, however, the inverter does not charge anything. You have an inverter/charger...the charger seems to be the problem, not the inverter.
  11. I travel with three separate security systems. One each in the front, by the bed and in the rear. The disadvantage is that they only work when the coach is occupied. The bad guy/gal won't know about them until he/she hears the racking of the slide or sees a red dot on his/her chest.
  12. Did you make a request to take your coach to the factory? I had a serious issue with the factory missing some welds under the front end. The first guy at the factory I talked to said it was out of warranty, so I was out of luck. However, I kept after them and talked to another employee. After I very briefly explained the problem (part of the problem was that the dealer knew about it when he sold it to us, but did not mention it)...he said "you need to bring that coach here, so we can fix it." Which I did, dropped it off, picked it up fully repaired in two weeks. They even reimbursed me for 1,500 miles worth of diesel fuel.
  13. This may be a dumb question, but are you sure the sewer pipe coming out from the tank will not swivel? I thought I had the same problem you do, until I was told that plastic end piece will swivel. It only swivels side to side (side of coach to side of coach) it will not swivel longitudinally (front to back of coach). Once I discovered it would move...it is right over the outlet hole in the floor.
  14. We have a nice very user friendly group here...unlike some forums. If you don't value or like somebody else's opinion...that's fine and your prerogative. But kindly refrain from making inane comments of no value.
  15. Old aviation rule, when using your check list and get interrupted, start the checklist over from the beginning.

    Oil Bath Hubs

Carl...seems to me if you get a mid to high quality coach, you'll get a good chassis and enough engine. The problems are with the lower or entry level coaches.
  17. Couldn't make this one, where is next year's?
  18. We like to stay a day or two after rallys are over. It's quite a parade watching everybody leave.
  19. RV sensors are famous for not working...we all get used to it and ignore them. Our last two coaches have had " SensaTank Level Monitoring Systems." They have worked perfectly in both coaches. There are three or four readings, Fresh Water, Black, Grey and Propane if you have it. Our rigs have had monitors outside with the water system and inside on the master electric panel over the passenger's seat.
  20. I have no idea what ACA is doing. Just got our magazine, here's a quote from Steve Heim, VP of Customer Experience: "As many of you already know, REV Group is the new name for ARG. The models in the AC line will now be just three: Revolution, Dream (in place if Allegiance and Tradition) and Eagle with a "Heritage option." Maybe that means they are not going to build any new Allegiances or Traditions after the ones already built are sold.
  21. The source said the info came from the ACA magazine...we are members but have yet to receive the mag...stay tuned.
  22. Glad we can help...most of this stuff you have to learn the hard way.
  23. Read this on another forum: New line up...Revolution, Dream, Eagle with Heritage up grade (whatever that means). Gone: Allegiance and Tradition.
