  1. Order the appropriate bushings from Pioneer Metal Works in Quincy Washington: 509 787 4428. They are the Safari go to group Please note I will send you a PM shortly. Note upper right corner of page where it says MAIL
  2. I am late to this party so what about AAA? I have been a member for years and have no issues except that they will not deal with a trailer unless I upgrade to one program that will cover the coach.
  3. It is pretty. I like the shape of the front cap and the rake of the windshield. I wonder what people did not like about it.
  4. Kay, that sounds delicious!! In Japan there is a meal called Yosenabi a seafood stew cooked in a beef broth. It is killer good, delicate and very tasty. I will have to try it in a cast iron pot. The entire meal is cooked as needed in the same pot all together except the rice and of course the beer.
  5. We live in Denver but grew up in the West. We have traveled West a good bit, prefer those two months. Several trips have been made returning late in October from the North West and have not seen anything but good weather. Rarely have we taken the interstates, always the secondary roads. Most campgrounds are closed by the time we have been through so finding a potential spot to stop requires some looking about. But in the West unlike the more crowded East, potential rural locations really abound unless you have to plug in or dump. If that is the case planning is more important.
  6. You Texans are out numbered....but I will agree if it all tasted like Joe's it is still pretty darn good! Joe I am still learning, I could not carry a tri-pod in scouts and haven't had the coach long enough to get the real cooking gear until it ran like I wanted so you are the main man on that score. Thanks I do have have the dutch oven but too big for we two and the little charcoal Weber old style no handle. Having a hard time with the tripod since I could make it for a lot less and make the bag too...we will see timing is everything. The grill, they talk of a heavy grill rim so food does not roll off, bigger than normal just turned upside down? The Treager, jury is out on that one.
  7. You guys are too much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! makin me laugh....no beans really! got have something that makes gas
  8. You two are from Texas, what do you know...we Westerners like the beans too. I will give it to Joe...he makes a great pot of chili even if it is missing the beans...
  9. F, I just had a look and the stove, it is the same as the Camp Chef but more money FYI. That said I have a similar cook top and you might have something here. I will keep track and see what happens..Guys like CManholt and and Herman and obedb, I wonder if they know how to cook? Now Joe he can make a bad pot of Texas chili but he leaves out the beans...go figure.
  10. Well Joe, Having seen your coach last summer it is nice, very nice and the upgrades on the interior stellar. Going backwards from where you are now anyone would make you sleep outside for sure!!!
  11. K I have a commercial unit at the shop, old Singer with a walking foot and a nice table but not handy in the coach and all the fun for us is on the road. There is so little time here to play like I want. I take it with me and revel in the time spent messin with the coach. Speaking about ALABAMA, we will likely be that way about Easter heading to our son's inlaws for the holiday. I spent a good bit of time in the state as a youngster/Navy Boy in Mobile. We have friends in Birmingham and Fort Payne. We will be in Arizona when we head that way.The best part I get to drive all the way back to Colorado on different roads. Where are you?
  12. Well I guess I can chime in here as well. I have an old 1999 Safari Panther with a C12 CAT and VERY low miles that I found in eastern Oregon. Homework says this coach's lifetime average will fall around 8.5 or 8.75 miles to the gallon if driven politely. It is certainly better than the 330 hp 3126B that powered my first Safari Zanzibar. I'm with Mr K, I did not buy it because it was inexpensive to operate but to fuss with and upgrade it and enjoy all aspects of it. Like Gary said it is the experience of the travel that moteling it does not offer .
  13. Joe I used a 1950s vintage Vintage Singer mini sewing machine... believe me nothing special and a stock needle and a polyester thread. The screen is not heavy and easily sewn. I used a standard vinyl binding again thin stuff no problems.
  14. Black is likely the choice because they buy in bulk and that is the least expensive in volume. Having a choice means they have to carry more inventory for those that can not make up their minds. QualityWindowScreen.com same price all colors, minimum quantity 10 feet. Either 80 or 90 % blockage. The have all by the roll at better prices if you need 100 or more feet...big coach I just bought a piece of beige, 8 feet tall and 20 feet long for an awning suncreen for 150 bucks, Binding will be less than $10 and a Zipper $10? time to put it together an hour maybe. I am working on making straight stiches but pretty tough on a small table.
  15. Joe, I do not think that color on the outside will make a lot of difference since it is on the outside. Yes you could add the magnets outside by stitching a pocket to the underside with the magnets enclosed. Use a light weight vinyl and a home machine will work just fine. I used the Beige because it looked better with the coach. I was at a seminar once discussing wheel covers and the solar screen beige won out for the coolest temp behind. B
  16. Joe, If your wife sews at all making them is a piece of cake. The material /Solar screen, is available from Quality Window Screen.com either 80 or 90 Uv resistant and of various colors. I made the whole set for the Panther last winter while in Arizona using a vintage Singer sewing machine. I bound the screen with a complimenting binding. Made a set of wheel well screens as well. It took me all of 2 and a half hours. Just price them and making them could save a bundle. Rare Earth Magnets are available on Amazon. B
  17. Fine, problem solved....There was a reason I posted the comment here..KISS None bought pretty much how I was going anyway...I will spend it elsewhere.
  18. I do not know How to do that Mr. Jim, that is supply the link or find it, would you kindly share the "How To" Bill E
  19. Interesting reading when stories like Joe's pops up. I often wondered why the trucks seemed to weave after I pass. Owning a couple Safari coaches that track magnificently passing or being passed, I see some big rigs chasing their steering wheels....got it. I have the same, being pushed around, issues in the winds across Nebraska or Kansas and would like some help. Sometimes one would like to get off the road but out there it is always a blowing. Any comments on the on the Safe-T-Plus versus the Roadmaster RSSA. The Blue Ox is probably the best in the wind and it is nearly 3 times the coast...in this case we probably get what we pay for.
  20. Wurthusa.com check in as a guest go to chemicals go to adhesives Rubber glue 0890100015
  21. The suggested Weather Strip adhesive is JUNK! Don't believe me just try it.... Sorry guys..no offense it really is! terrible. This might be hard to find but Wurth Automotive Products make a rubber adhesive that is easy to use and works very well. It is expensive. It acts like the tubber cement we played with in grade school. I cleans up like that to in the pre set stage aand then sticks like whit on rice!!!! It is of German manufacture. I have used it o my restorations for twenty years. If you can not find it PM me and I will tell you exactly how you might get it with out me sending you a can. Nothing works better!!!!
  22. Joe, I have the same on the Panther and the Z and both have only one 4 sided square seal under them measuring about 1 1/4 in square. The sticky part was a bugger getting it all up.
  23. Typical seams on a Safari are two, one at each end between the roof fiberglass and the cap structure. It is generally covered with a molding and then a self leveling sealant. Sides are tied down under the drip channel molding. The Safari roofs are 3 and 3/4 thick. The later coaches 1999--2002 at least are a sandwich of luan and white bead Styrofoam and are very noisy! How thick are your "thicker" roofs? Hey Joe, sent you a PM with some questions, no answer? Did you get it? B
