  1. Call Tiffin for advice - similiar sitiuation with a Phaeton on our caravan tour last summer in AK and Canada - owner called Tiffin from Seward AK and got good advice - hope this helps !!
  2. CW sells a "bike rack" that fits on the coach rear ladder - I just bought one and and attached it via zip ties to the coach rear ladder - then attached via bungee cords a new 6' ladder - works great !! Rack cost about $10 and is solid !!
  3. Bill - we had Ben and Nancy Rose on our trip last summer - I believe they are doing an AK caravan next year - They are very professional and you will not regret going with them - let me know if you need any further details --
  4. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. However, we just had the opposite experience with Fantasy doing their 60 day trip of Western Canada and Alaska last summer . The WM and wife could not have done more for the 22 guests on this caravan. We always felt we got more than we paid for. They always seemed to find money in the budget for "extra" items not listed in the itinerary! Yes, the roads in AK and Canada can be challenging but we went slow, why rush when you know you have a rv site awaiting you at the end of the day. The tailgunner had to leave the caravan in Fairbanks due to a health issue; the Head WM showed up next day and covered for him for the rest of the trip. I feel so strong about the superior service we received from Fantasy that I have not removed the sticker from my coach - still promoting this company when people ask.
  5. Just completed drive from Van Horn to San Antonio - road surface ranged from 5-3 (5 being the best !) Heavy cross/tail winds - Several Passport America campgrounds enroute - small town America at its finest ! Brett has made all the correct descriptions of what to see or experience. We encountered a small number of semi-trucks so that was a plus --Glad we took Brett's suggestion!!
  6. Just made this ride - Tucson, then Sedona, then Flagstaff unto Albq - very heavy wind blowing on I-17 and I-40 - headwind first, then tailwind. Have similar coach, only disc brakes, down shift a lot on grades - also towing a 2009 Saturn Vue - I go between 55-58 MPH - sweet spot for me -- Sedona should not be missed but driving your coach there may not be wise ! Tight roads !! Flagstaff is 7,000 ' but the 8.1 Vortec engine ran flawlessly - Let me know if you need further details !!
  7. Just was introduced to this game last week while staying at Fortuna De Oro RV resort in Yuma AZ - great husband/wife sport = great exercise and social mixer - also bought rackets so we are committed to playing more !!
  8. Have you considered a caravan tour of Alaska ? We took a 60 day caravan tour last summer of Western Canada and Alaska - 5700 miles - best thing we ever done - no regrets, rv parks and tours are paid for, staff provided many meals and we now have 42 friends that we did not have prior to the tour starting - PM me for me info if you need it = time and money well spent !!
  9. Custer State Park is not to be missed - buffalo roam free and are visible from the larger campground - great facilities and nature loops to explore - our grandkids loved it !! Sites are wide open and reasonable - evening programs are offered by the staff - One of the best state parks we ever visited - Also Devils Tower is not to be missed - spent several days there at the KOA located at the park entrance - really unique experience for us city dwellers - Upper Midwest is wonderful !!
  10. I also considered renting a DP to "try" the lifestyle prior to purchasing - What I found out that you could not tow a vehicle while renting - so that sort of defeated "trying" the lifestyle before purchasing - Thanks to all the forums available to us and talking to owners in local rv parks, I got enough info to make the plunge to full timing upon retirement - available funds certainly dictate what you will be looking at for purchase -- AS others have mentioned, a good used RV will serve you well - due your research and have a used coach inspected by a party you hire !!
  11. We went on the 60 day Fantasy caravan tour this summer - greatly exceeded all our expectations !! Both the Wagon Master and Tail Gunner went above and beyond all our expectations - In my opinion, the only way to enjoy AK and western Canada is by caravan - not only do you enjoy tours you may not do by yourselves, but as an added bonus, you now have close friends you didn't have at the beginning of the trip - Send me a PM for more details if you want - can't say enought about Fantasy !! Money and time well spent !!
  12. Having lived in the Hilton Head Island area for 13 years, there are 2 big rig and dog friendly rv parks located on the Island - Savannah is only a 25-30 minute drive away - may be a better option versus a small state park - let me know if you need any further info --
  13. We also did the 60 day Alaska tour with Fantasy Tours - great value and a wonderful and safe way to view Alaska and western Canada - no regrets whatsoever !! Contact me for more info --
  14. Also used a Tow Shield from Coastline - went 60 days in a caravan thru Canada and Alaska - really rough roads - gravel and dirt in most places - no damage what so ever - takes a little longer to affix to vehicle but really is effective - I bought mine used (1X) and got a good deal but they are made for specific vehicles so the fit is perfect! Would highly recommend if you do not want any damage to your toad --
  15. Rich - did not see the link but may have deleted this from my spam folder - could you please send again ? Thanks - NIck
  16. Rich - I also have a 2003 WH chassis - but am the second owner - bought coach about 1.5 years ago - owner passed away - how can I find out if this procedure was performed ?? Thanks - Nick
  17. Rich - LCD display intensity level is the culprit - I do not drive the coach at night and I've cranked up the dial for the highest back lighting - any further advice ?? NIck
  18. Please share the info as mine is slowly fading to a point that it may not be readable next year --
  19. I asked the dealer what was the age of the tires I was interested in - they were only several months old - this was done over the phone - If I didn't like his response, I would have insisted on newer tires or move on to the next dealer who carried Michelins in the size I needed - The savings were huge at this time - about 1 year ago as I recall --
  20. I replaced all 6 on my 2003 Pace Arrow last June - same size as yours, including tire change over, balance, valve stems, "scrap" and tax in GA for $3,021. The tire price from Michelin is standard I believe - the tire dealer makes his profit on change over, balancing, etc. Very happy with the pricing I received but dealers will vary the prices of their services to up the profit margin - Hope this helps !
  21. This is reply from "I travel with pets" - actually, not anymore as we put man's best friend down in the fall. To answer your question, our 2009 Saturn is an automatic transmission vehicle , V-6 - not sure if they offered a manual transmission in 2009 - never met an owner with a manual. Let me know if you need any more info. Nick in SC
  22. Herman -- Thank you so much !! Problem resolved !! After filling the Water tank, I did NOT return the bypass valve to Normal - The signage is gone on this valve - Anyway, after turning the bypass valve to Normal, all is as it should be -- Thank you for your plumbing assistance -- NIck in SC
  23. I have a 2003Fleetwood Pace Arrow - new to me -- First Trip out - Went to fill the fresh water tank via the city water access - filled nicely but then started to overflow at the external gravity fill - I have the cap - Non pressure for RV - 222 R & B -- but I do not have the vent plug to seal the system so the city water access can pressurize the system -- Owners Manual no help - anybody know what the correct vent plug is ?? The diameter of the cap is approx 1 3/4 " Checked CW - their products do not look like they will work -- Thanks All - overflowing in SC -
