Residential Refrigerator Compressor Noise
BillAdams replied to debbie100's topic in Systems and Appliances
It came with it when I bought it but the original '88 Country Coach Prevost had a regular RV fridge. The coach was completely remodeled and updated in '94 including a household fridge. For some reason in '99 the owner had this fridge installed just before he sold the coach. It had never even been used and has worked perfectly ever since. We ran a modified sine wave inverter for many years and installed a pure sine wave inverter a few years back, -
I don't have a facility but I am really getting tired of paying others to do work I could do if I only have the ability to get under my coach. First and foremost, DO NOT go under your coach while on the manufacturers jacks and DO NOT go under your coach "assuming" that your air bags will keep you safe. If you go under you MUST have a pit, have the coach on jack stands or drive the coach up on ramps capable of supporting your coach. I am considering the ramp option. I can buy a 2X10X10 and cut a 4', 3' 2', 1' section and nail them all together to make a stepped ramp that would be 7 inches high. No matter what happened I would have the coach clearance with no air plus 7' to scurry out from underneath. It's just the matter of figuring out what to do with these 2 ramps when not needed that I continue to struggle with.

Residential Refrigerator Compressor Noise
BillAdams replied to debbie100's topic in Systems and Appliances
No noise and my GE Profile side-by-side (ice and water through the door) is barely audible. It does make some sound but I would not consider it to be much louder than a purr. While the above poster mentions the startup amps, the fridge draws less than 3 amps while running and that's not too often unless you are in and out a lot. -
Not sure which part of his post your are answering to referring to. One of the things he specifically likes about the Atlas is that no internet connection is required.

Black Water Tank, Store Or Flow Through?
BillAdams replied to dlfishing's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
I don't want to add anything. I would just like to see less rambling between a few posters who are really only talking to each other and stomping on the topic in the thread. I recently deleted a topic as the responses had nothing to do with the topic and when I tried to revive it the same thing happened. Time to move on. I wonder it this might be why we don't hear back from the OP in so many cases. I am not a moderator and it's no up to me what does or does not get posted here. I know you are all friends and you like to have discussions with each other on this forum but I find it to be a disservice to those trying to wade through your personal conversations which quickly drift into emogies, ha ha and "that's what she said" type posts. Again, not up to me and I know that boys will be boys so however the moderators handle this forum is OK with me. -
Nice review. In my opinion (which means absolutely nothing) the stand alone GPS does not have enough added features that are not available from Google Maps or WAZE to make a $500 purchase worthwhile. I do like the goodies but the only thing listed in David's review that is not available on your phone is the addition of weight, length and height. If you travel a great deal of the back roads USA then you absolutely should own one of these units. However, if you, like most RVers, travel the Interstate road system to a specific campground location it's nearly impossible that your travels will have any of these obstructions along the way. If you have any concerns (like the RV parks does not list Big Rig Friendly) you can call and ask if they can accommodate your RV and if any special directions are required. You do remember your phone, right? That thing we all used to use to make reservations and talk to other people with?

Black Water Tank, Store Or Flow Through?
BillAdams replied to dlfishing's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
At some point the moderators here are going to have to stop all of these off-topic ramblings between a limited few posters. Maybe these posters have favored son status but so many topics get stomped on by these ramblings that it makes reading many of the topics here very frustrating. -
Whew, I thought it was a warning about me! I am sure you are correct that is was a scam designed to prey on us old folks. Just FYI, anytime you are involved in any kind of an incident the first thing to do is get out and take pic's or videos of the entire scene. Pic's of the driver, the vehicles, the positions of the vehicles, the license plates, everything. I know that is pretty counter intuitive as you want to get out and see what's going on but, unless you are pretty sure you screwed up, documentation at the time of the event can be worth its weight in gold. I was rear ended in Houston during a rain storm. Took pictures of everything including the documents, the driver, the cars, everything. The insurance company tried to dispute the facts as Houston police would not respond to a non-injury accident and I did not have a police report. Once I send all the pics they paid my costs.

I did the same thing using RV CAMS as well. I gave them the name and type of system that I have now (had, as it hasn't worked in years) and they matched me up with a Voyager 7" color camera and monitor. They send along compelete instructions on how to do the installation and I was up and running in only a few hours. I posted some information about my changeover here.

I hope we hear back from the OP since the CC's would have had many creature comforts. Not sure what he is looking for that he does not have or what could be updated to bring the current coach up to those extras he seems to feel he might be missing. The CC line of coaches is/was one of the best in the industry so it could make more sense to spend some money to update the CC than buy an old Beaver with some features that the OP seems to be missing. I would rather have a CC than a Beaver as many of the CC folks are still around and parts, service and support are still available.

Not really similar to a DeLorean when it's a kit car based upon something like a VW chassis but that does not make it any less fun!

2017 VW Beetle Automatic Transmission Towing
BillAdams replied to cguey5155's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Towing a car on a dolly is a HUGE PIA. I towed a VW Rabbit (wife's car) but once I moved to a car that could be towed 4 wheels down I realized just how bad things had been in the past. If you have no other choice and you must tow this car on a dolly then the VW will do just fine. A FWD car on a dolly is just a trailer and you won't have any mechanical issues to deal with. You won't necessarily be happy, but it will work. -
Black Water Tank, Store Or Flow Through?
BillAdams replied to dlfishing's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Same "stuff" different day. No matter how you do it you really will only do it once as it's something that gets ingrained in your head very, very quickly! The clean up is lengthy and really no fun at all. -

Yep, take away the "r" in that Tee Shirt response and you do understand! -
Black Water Tank, Store Or Flow Through?
BillAdams replied to dlfishing's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Just never walk away when you are filling your tanks with a tank flusher for a good rinse. The results can be disastrous if you forget. Please don't ask how I know but I can assure you that once you screwed up once you will never forget again! -
I know that mine has a volume control on the dash monitor and turning that all the way down gets rid of the outside sounds. Maybe a call/e-mail to Sony tech support would get you the information necessary to turn the sound all the way down from the monitor.

Black Water Tank, Store Or Flow Through?
BillAdams replied to dlfishing's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Store both until the black tank needs to be emptied. Empty the black and then empty the grey to clean it all out. If by chance you use a whole bunch of grey water you can dump the grey and not the black and close it down again. When you are ready to dump black again you will have plenty of grey to flush the lines. -
Is that 2 dots and a dash or 3 longs, 3 shorts, 3 longs?

Do they have a phone number? Totally secure!

Personally, I would answer yes. You will lose so much on the depreciation the first few years it might surprise you. If you don't want to get one as old as you were originally thinking, at least give some serious thought to a similar unit a couple of years old.

The price quoted from FMCA is only the tires. There are so many additional charges that what you thought you would pay is no where near the final cost. You are not told in advance what any of these charges are but instead you get a bill from FMCA that includes all of the charges for the tires PLUS whatever charges the dealer added. It is such a very misleading program BUT you do save a few bucks compared to doing it directly without FMCA. So, what's so bad about that? No, it's not clearly disclosed what your final cost will be but your final cost will be less than not using the program.

Let's see.....the topic? I know, what's wrong with me! You have mentioned this many times in the past. IMHO, if you have air suspension AND jacks then you should drop all air and use the least amount of jack extension possible to give you a comfortable living environment. If you only have air suspension or only jack leveling the rules change.

I pulled out my battery tray (really a rack for 4 8D's) and took it to a shop and had it powder coated. I will never have to worry about maintenance again!
