Go with your feelings. They are not often wrong. If something just doesn't feel right there is likely a good reason for that. I would get a 2nd opinion and I would absolutely require a written estimate before I did anything further.

Coach Net Or FMCA Roadside Assistance?
BillAdams replied to gordiegaffer's topic in Type A motorhomes
It's not Bad Sam. It's called Good Sam and there are many reasons they use this name. If you are not happy with the service Good Sam provides then you should simply post that information. I don't call FMCA non-Family Motor Coach Association when I am not happy with the direction the company takes. Many folks like FMCA, Good Sam, Escapees, whatever.....Many folks don't. That OK no matter which side you choose but posting actual experiences with these services helps everyone. -
What route have you planned? Maybe others can give you an idea of place to go and things to do.

I have not tried this number recently but you can give them a call and let them know what you need to do. 1-800-347-3288.

Check for RV Satellite businesses at your local campground if you are near any good size city. There should be a business who can come to you, get your service setup and any hardware updated at a very good price.

Coach Net Or FMCA Roadside Assistance?
BillAdams replied to gordiegaffer's topic in Type A motorhomes
While I have only needed road service in my RV twice, Good Sam sent a wrecker big enough to tow my Prevost, helped me locate a good service center (along with the Prevost Service help line) and safely towed me to my choice of service centers without issue. YMMV (but hopefully not!) -
Coach Net Or FMCA Roadside Assistance?

Did you look into Good Sam? -
The way not part might be due to the fact that they are illegal in many States unless things have changed recently.

Those are not Christmas lights but they certainly could be used that way! My guess is that these are used as described above to outline the area the owner used at night. Some will put them up and over the awning lighting the area in and around that area. If you can get them untangled you can try a couple of different setups and decide if they have any value the way you like to camp. If not, throw them out and call it a day.

That is a Winegard Movin' View. It should still work just fine with DirecTV service but due to changes made by Dish Network the antenna cannot receive Dish Network programming. The dome (all domes) cannot receive any of the DirecTV HD programming either so you would have to be happy with DirecTV and happy to only pick up the SD channels. If you don't have the newer HD TV's in your coach then this should be fine. The dome style antennas will also not work with the most current DTV receivers so you have to ensure that you are using a receiver with model number of "24 or less" H24, HR24, H23, D12..... If you don't have service at home and plan to use a receiver in the RV only you will still have to sign a 2 year agreement and you can suspend the service for up to 6 months at a time (extending your contract at the same time). Let us know if you have one service or the other at home and how you plan to use it so we can give you some additional details.

While they are certainly "custom made" aren't they made 1,000 at a time. The numbers aren't custom they are just F400,000, F400,001, F400,002........I know there are a couple of special numbers but for everyone else it would seem that the numbers would just be sitting there on a shelf.

The central vac systems simply don't have the suction that an upright has. If you are all wood or vinyl this might not make much difference but if you plan to vacuum carpet I suggest a good standard vacuum. We discovered the Shark Rocket plugged vacuum and I have never seen a unit that works as well. That includes the Dyson we replaced with the Rocket. If you do go with a central vac, pay attention to where it exhausts. The filter bag does not catch all the dust and that dust has to go somewhere.

And there is no downside to using that water! Just fill it up again as necessary. That's what the water connection is there for.

OUR 'ANTIQUE' 1990 FORETRAVEL GRAN VILLA
BillAdams replied to BREDAN/WILLIAMS's topic in RV Photo Gallery
We feel the same about our 1988 Prevost. It's a great coach and we have 3 - 4 leggers along. You just can't find that kind of quality any more! -
I leave the pumps on at all times. It may just be the way my coach is plumbed (2 water pumps) but I always get better flow and pressure with a combination of city water and water from my holding tanks via the pumps. I like to have all of the water I can get when I am hooked up. Just don't forget that you will be using water from the holding tank anytime the pumps kick in so you will need to fill that fresh water tank from time to time.

2014 Equinox Steering Goes Unstable While Towing
BillAdams replied to txmotorhome's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I have a similar bracket on my RV but it has brackets that tighten both H/V but side to side. It includes the same U-joint connection and a 2nd U-joint connection on the horizontal plane. It locks everything in place with no possibility of movement. I think it was a Blue Ox bracket but I did not do a search to try to find it. That's your homework for tonight! -
2014 Equinox Steering Goes Unstable While Towing
BillAdams replied to txmotorhome's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I may not be understanding what's going on but it sounds like everything works just fine until the battery goes dead after and hour or so. If that's correct then the simple and obvious solution is to just add a charging circuit from the coach to the car which is easily accomplished. If I am missing something here please give me a bit of clarification. Thanks. -
Wow, have have not heard that term since the 70"s. I hope someone with more current information will come along as my first impression is the service center is looking to make some extra money from you! I hope someone comes along and explains why I am wrong!

Our Holiday Travel Misadventure-- So Far
BillAdams replied to huffypuff's topic in General Discussion
Nice to have a new story to tell around the fire! Nobody, and I mean nobody, backs me up except my wife. At FMCA and similar rallies the volunteers insist that they park us. I don't move. I won't move. I send out Janet and have her ask where they want us parked. They insist they will park me. I just sit. She wants to know where they want me parked to which they usually, finally reply. They stay there and make random motions with their arms as to where I should be going but I am watching my wife's instructions and the wife's instructions alone. That volunteer has no vested interest in my coach and if something goes wrong "oops" does not feed the bulldog. -
Mine also used the existing wiring. Just solder (or butt crimps) the wires from the new system to the old with the instructions from Tim and you are in business.
-
I called Tim as well at RV Cams. He will likely be able to set you up with a wired system that will work with your existing wiring. My system is over 25 years old but he was able to walk me through the installation with excellent written instructions. I have never heard of anyone who did not get some kind of interference with their wireless system from time to time.
-
Might be. We have stayed there many time in our Prevost and would never hesitate to stay there again in the future.

Websites like this can also be (and usually are) a very profitable businesses. Ad supported income can be very large as the ads shown are for a very narrow demographic making those wanting to advertise willing to pay a high price. Nearly every view will be from a potential customer.

There is a very nice KOA in Colorado Springs. It's gravel but there is plenty of room and easy in and out. Close to everything but out far enough to fell like a campground. There is a Camping World just up the street if you need something.

California, Oregon, Washington Late Summer Trip
BillAdams replied to oscarpower's question in Destinations/Attractions
Keep in mind that many RV parks do not allow tents. Be sure that you call and ask the operators if this is allowed. It will dramatically limit the parks that you can stay at and in some of the parks where both are allowed they are not allowed in areas close to each other.
