I just could not resist getting Janet a new shower setup. I saw it and I just had to have it (parody the insurance commercial). Janet's happy so I guess I did good!

A good set of deep cycle AGM batteries. You don't say the size but just get a matching size. Lifeline are the best and most expensive but I have had great success with the Universal Battery brand (Chinese) for about 5 years now. Check Sam's or Costco, they may have a brand there as well.

Intermittent Generator Fail When Engine Running
BillAdams replied to kstaf4d@att.net's topic in Electrical
Even in the Summer I don't need a generator while driving. Glad to hear you will find a place where you can do some trouble-shooting. Let us know what you find or if you end up with additional questions. -
One dealer that I have used and trusted for many years when it came to my braking system as dropped M&G and now uses Air Force One exclusively (unless requested otherwise). The installation appears to be easier and it can be done on many more vehicles than M&G. I did get an M&G installed on my current Jeep but I would not have any qualms about installing the Air Force One after discussions with my installer.

Is there a topic in here somewhere or have we all gone "nuts"!? -
I have had M&G on 3 toads including my current Jeep Liberty and 2 different full size extended Chevy Vans. There is nothing as quite, easy and dependable as M&G as long as there is one available for your tow vehicle. I had to have the battery moved in my 2012 Liberty as well to get the M&G to fit but I wasn't doing the work so it was just a matter of letting the installer take care of it. I have about 15 years of experience with the M&G product and it has always worked perfectly.

Should You Get Extended Warranty On New Motorhome
BillAdams replied to bobandwendy1972's topic in Extended Service Policies
Any warranty that pays out double the premium will be bankrupt very soon. It's really a roll of the dice. The warranty company bets that you will not have any major claims and you are betting that you will. It's nothing more than an insurance policy and the company hopes there are more winners than losers. I am not saying that you should or should not but if you are a believer in insurance, maybe you should with the understanding that if you never use it you have a good RV and you should be happy about that. -
Intermittent Generator Fail When Engine Running
BillAdams replied to kstaf4d@att.net's topic in Electrical
I'm with Bill. The engine and the generator really have nothing to do with each other and there is certainly nothing that would be In Sync or Out of Sync when talking about the 2. Could you explain what's going on? -
If you do rotate, be sure to pay attention to Brett's advice above. Your original plan is not a good one.

That does not sound like too much fuel to me. The burner uses .38/gal per hour and in very low temps the burner runs a lot as it needs to keep the interior and the bays warm. 30 days includes 720 hours. 720 X .38 would be 274 gallons of fuel. If the burner only runs 1/3 of that time then it is still nearly 91 gallons in 30 days. I don't think you have a problem, you just happen to be in a very cold climate and you need more fuel. Imagine what you would have to have done if you had a propane fired coach!

Vero Beach, FL: Need Place To Park (Empty) A Week Or So Near

If he "insists" that you stay with him, how long is his driveway! -
You don't want to drive it back to CO and have it inspected, you want to have it inspected before you make the purchase. The Berkshire is a very good coach but how the unit was treated since 2009 makes a big difference. You can get engine information, you can have a pro inspect the engine and chassis, the plumbing, the components, the tires and batteries as well as general wear and tear issues. A coach with 110,000 miles is absolutely NOT a deal breaker (anyone who buys my 1988 coach with 350,000 miles will be very happy) but it is a deal you should take very seriously.

You should have seen what we were dealing with in Detroit! No matter, the principal is the same.

Assuming the basement heat is heating can be dangerous. There are many questions above that need to be answered but I would suggest that you get one of the Weather Stations with a remote temperature sensor. When we Wintered in Detroit we installed one and it kept me up-to-date with what was going on. Sometimes over night I just did not stay as warm as we would like without also running some heat inside the coach which we did not need or want. I added a couple of 100W light bulbs in the basement on those very cold nights and that kept everything warm. Without the temp sensor down there I really had no way of knowing what was going on.

Is it possible that by "running" you mean you hear the fan running? If so, the inverter/charger is charging your batteries. If you have shore power than the inverter side of the electronics are not doing anything. If you have a "good" inverter/charger there is a 3 stage charging routine that kicks in every time shore power is lost. The charger will start out in BULK charging until the batteries reach a certain voltage. The charge rate will then drop to the ABSORPTION phase until the batteries maintains a certain voltage for the required time. Lastly, the charger will drop into FLOAT stage and maintain your batteries as necessary until you again disconnect from shore power. The inverter/charger fan may or may not run during all of these stages but will most likely run the entire time the charger is in BULK charge.

If you have not done so already, the P trap should be removable without tools. Put a bucket under the trap and disconnect the fittings to see if you can find and clear the clog. I don't like using chemicals as they are designed for home plumbing systems which generally have substantially types of piping.

Absolutely doable. Maybe not with hookups but certainly possible. The Fishing Bridge campground opens May 5th and is the only park that will handle an RV over 35'. You can get a lot of information about other sites available and when they open here http://www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com/lodging/camping/ Camping outside the park during that time of year should not be an issue at all.

Suggestions For Base Camp Near Yellowstone
BillAdams replied to steveparksffinc's topic in Campgrounds
Fishing Bridge inside the park only has a few total sites that will handle RV's over 35'. We were lucky to get in there without a reservation. Of course it was early May and the RV park had just opened that day. We helped shovel the snow out of the back of the site so we would fit, but it was a great place to stay!- 19 replies

As the old hole is likely square and the new TV's are wider than they are tall, this leaves a great location for a sound bar in many cases. If you have the space I highly recommend a sound bar. Even with front speakers I just don't think the sound of these new TV's is very good. You are going HD TV, you might as well go HD sound as well. As mentioned above you can just add some bracing where the old TV was and use a home style wall mount so that it ends up flush with the empty TV box. You can get a larger TV (I recommend getting as big as possible) if you plan for the TV to cover the edges of the old box instead of trying to fit one inside. I have tried several brands but some of the Visio TV's have the thinnest frames giving you more actual TV screen but you will want to find the best match for the space available. You will also most likely want a TV with speakers on the bottom and not of the sides as this will make the TV a little taller rather than wider which will fit the space better.

Sorry, I did not think your other option was staying at a motel. If you are staying in Key West (not some other key) for $15/night then I wish I had not turned down that West Point appointment. -

$15/day to dry camp and that's a good deal? I used to live on base at NAS Pensacola when Roger Staubach was our quarterback! -
That is correct. You should not be able to use the cable input connection if it goes to the wall plate I mentioned and you confirmed. When the coax connection goes to a "box of many buttons" (BOMB) then things are dramatically different. However, you can modify the wiring going to the back of that wall plate, add an A/B switch and run a new cable from that location to where your receiver is located assuming they are near each other. Let me know if that's the case and I can give you some wiring information.

8D batteries are also very large (the size of 2 standard batteries). If you had 4 of those and now have 4 golf cart batteries you would have a lot of left over space. Could you clarify? I do have 4 - 8D batteries for my house system so that's not an impossible scenario.
