Black Holding Tank Exploded HELP URGENT
BillAdams replied to shalom's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Call Monaco or whoever owns Monaco these days. I had to replace my fresh water tank and called Country Coach. They gave me the original manufacturers name (I wish I could remember) and they only needed the 3 dimensions to determine which sized tank I needed. They also needed drain and fill connection locations. They shipped an exact replacement and that was the most expensive part! They were located in OR which makes sense as CC and Monaco are/were there when the coach was manufactured. -
I fear that you are going to find that there is a vast wasteland when it come to local chapters for FMCA members with children on board. Most FMCA members have raised their kids, and sometimes their grand kids, and are pretty much done with having kids running around the campfire. This is likely even more true in FL where retirees rule! I do believe there are some National chapters for RVing families with children on board so don't give up, just do a bit more searching.

Mapping/Navigation Using Laptop With Windows 10
BillAdams replied to squiredude's topic in Electronics
If you are saying that your computer cannot use GPS satellites then there's really nothing out there that requires live GPS data that will be of any use to you. I am pretty sure that there are external GPS units that you can add to your computer to provide this necessary data. Streets and Trips sold their software and a GPS "puck" but you should be able to find a similar stand-alone unit.- 10 replies

While I did not have a Ford Focus, I used the battery disconnect on my Chevy Van for years to keep the battery from dying while towing. It was always obvious that things weren't quite right when I first re-connected and started the engine but this only lasted less than 1 minute and all was well. Hopefully, some Focus owners will be along with more details. Is this new for this years Focus or has that all ways been a requirement? Have you looked to see what the FMCA towing guide says?

You should be a bit overwhelmed. That's a 2000 mile trip in 8 days and you want to do some sightseeing along the way. If you drive 300 miles per day it's going to take 7 days to get to Albuquerque and if there is something you wanted to do in Pueblo that's about all the time you have with a budget of 8 days. You will be "passing through" some amazing places and I hope you can add some time to your trip. If not, and you can only plan one stop, I would really recommend St. Louis and the "Arch" and the Budweiser Factory Tour (even if you are not a beer drinker).

Installing A Winegard Razor Antenna
BillAdams replied to MISSDARLENE522@HOTMAIL.COM's topic in Electronics
Hopefully, you mean the Razar Automatic or Razar Z1 listed above. The others are worth much of anything unless you will be very close the to TV transmitters and you can put it in a window with a clear view to them. Both of the 2 Razar's I listed require 12V power and the instructions are very clear on how this needs to be provided. We will wait until you get back to us with more information. -
Is A Toad Brake System Required
BillAdams replied to PRIESTLAKE's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Since you are looking for opinions and not legal advice (binding legal advice cannot be found at any online forum), my opinion is that it does not matter if a braking system is "required". A braking system is "necessary" for all towed vehicles. You cannot stop as quickly when towing a trailer (that's what a towed is) as you can when you are not. That means that anyone looking for any reason to turn the blame on you is going to delve into every possible nook and cranny. So, you say you don't have any brakes on your trailer? Thank you, my lawyer will be in touch! -
When plugged into 30 amp power you would still have power on both circuits. The OP also says that there IS power coming out of the breaker. I don't know if that's a 50 amp breaker or a sub-panel breaker for the A/C but it if there is power on both circuits it is not likely a campground power issue.

This information is also in your owners manual so keep that in mind if you own a Trav'ler and can't find these instructions. It used to be listed as Emergency Stow but I think they modified that wording. The actual emergency stow procedure Blake refers to above involves going on the roof and manually cranking the antenna down.

I have a new toad and I don't see any room to install a new M&G myself so I would like to install the SMI Air Force One (I think, not Duo) and I would like to hook it up to the existing air line previously used by the M&G. Anyone have any idea?

Last time I checked with Ernie his first opening was March 2017!
-
Ah, thanks. Thought I did something wrong! As an aside, the main reason you can't go from Dish to DirecTV is the smaller motor used on the Dish Trav'ler. You can change a DirecTV Trav'ler to Dish but not the other way.
-
Not sure if I am the Bill you are talking about but I don't know what you might be referring to.

All antennas have some form of limitation as designed for RV's. Even the Winegard Trav'ler for Dish! This antenna is setup for Western Arc satellites only and cannot be converted to EA. It does have an option for using the 72 satellite only which has all the EA programming but not local Network programming is available. brocki, you are going to need to run 2 separate coax cables from ground dome style antenna to the 2 separate receivers whether it is Dish or DirecTV. With DirecTV you will be SD only but you can watch any channel on any receiver. With Dish you will get HD but both receivers must be watching programming coming from the same satellite. That's not usually a problem but it can jump up and bite you from time to time.

Any Decent Denver Area Campgrounds??
BillAdams replied to mrsrodeo's question in Destinations/Attractions
If you can go a bit N. then I would highly recommend St. Vrain State Park. Right off I-25 near Firestone, CO. -
I am! Glad to see that it shows. I really now understand that I can't let someone get under my skin just because they made a misinformed post or because they attacked my response. These days I really don't care. If you don't want accurate information, don't ask the question. If you don't like my answer, that's OK, too. You likely won't hear much more from me down the line. I have certainly mellowed over time and I no longer feel I need to get my 2 cents in. In most cases, if a topic has had numerous inaccurate or conflicting responses, you won't even hear from me since it means I will have to try to defend my position from one side or the other. I have no interest in these kinds of interactions. So, if I am able to get in early I will be glad to help and whatever happens from there is OK with me. I just hope the OP can separate the wheat from the chafe.

No, I have been out of the business since Winegard laid me off in 2014 after completing the updating of their training systems. Janet and I now have a great, unrelated, job that still allows us to travel and work together so all is well.
-
No changes have been made by DirecTV that would effect the operation of your Trac Star antenna. If you are having reception problems it would be the antenna itself for an issue with the cabling between. This assumes you are using the same DirecTV receiver that has worked properly in the past and you have not changed any settings or used it with another antenna.

I'm here. Been gone from FMCA for awhile. I won't be posting much but I will peak in from time to time. I am long out of the satellite internet business but I still know a bit about OTA and satellite TV.

It seems I am a member again! Not sure how often I will visit or post, but I may be somewhere in the area.

DISH Network Internet ???
BillAdams replied to britcon's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
Dish does not actually offer ANY internet service. They do re-sell a couple of services from other providers (Hughesnet and Excede being the most common). It's just crappy satellite internet service but if nothing else is available, crappy is better than nothing. -
I have had a great time posting to this forum under this user and at least one other. In any case, my life has turned and taken me away for the satellite TV / satellite internet business I knew. I still travel from time to time in my old '88 Prevost but I don't think my lifestyle matches that of any other (or at least very few) RV so I think I am just going to move on. My very best to everyone, Merry Christmas (no, not happy holidays) and a Happy New Year to everyone. It should be a very interesting Winter here in Detroit! Be good, be kind and be a friend. If you think you are not doing at least one of these things, do something different.

Inverter Circuit Retrofit For Residential Refrigerator
BillAdams replied to GaryMBlythe's topic in Electrical
The Samsung units are well known for being able to run on MSW and has been being used in Tiffin coaches by many owners for many years. My GE Profile also ran for over 10 years on a MSW before I switched over to a TSW and it's been running great since 1999. -
I like River Plantation or if you want to be close to Gatlinburg then I really like Twin Creek. Between the 2 is Foothills RV and River Edge RV.

I have only been full timing since 1997 and traveled a bit over 250,000 miles so please consider me a newbie! I have never found a need for a TPMS. If I had a blow out up front I will know it before the TPMS does. If I have a blow out in one of the rears, the thumping is a dead give away. I guess if you don't check your tires before you start driving this might be a good thing, but why would you take off without checking your tires? Surely this is the contrarian view but I am not a fan of throwing money away. Yep, "stuff" happens but if I wanted to install a TPMS I would likely only install a 4 tire system on my toad.
