Good luck and have a great time!

I don't want to diminish your displeasure with the service as they made a huge mistake. I have had to use GS road service twice to get my coach towed. Once, my turbo blew and once the radiator fan somehow struck the radiator. In both cases they were able to get me a tow in a reasonable time and in both cases towed me to the location I requested based upon information from the manufacturer of my coach. Mistakes happen. As a matter of fact I thought I made a mistake once but I was mistaken. The good news is that they did come through in the end and you won't be paying for services you did not receive.

Do not install the Tornado as it will not work very long. I have replaced mine twice and the 3rd one has now quit turning as well. I like the simple no fuss flush. Put it close to the sensors and it will help keep them clean. The rest of the tank will take care of itself as long as you use plenty of water and only dump when the tank is close to full. A bit of water in the tank while traveling will also help keep the interior clean while you drive.

Clearly, that's just a rumor. No matter what DirecTV does or does not do, none of the dome style antennas will be able to receive the HD signals.

No need to send a PM (prefer you don't) about questions everyone has answers to. Post any questions. I will be along.

I re-joined so I could buy some tires at a savings. I bought 4 and will buy 4 more (B F Goodrich, not Michelin) before my year runs out. I won't renew when this year expires. In 6 years or so when I need tires again, I will join again (with the same FMCA number). It seems that the majority of FMCA benefits have either vanished or been greatly reduced. The magazine is a shadow of its former self and the mail forwarding services have been farmed out to other providers.

How soon do you plan to full-time? Do you plan to actually move on a regular basis or would you like to go N. for the Summer and S. for the Winter? Will this be true full-time where you sell the house and everything you own goes in the RV? Please tell us more about your hopes and dreams.

Please! do not use WD-40. A bit of dry silicone spray is good but WD-40 can cause issue with long term usage.

For my incoming fresh water tank I use a sediment filter followed by a charcoal filter. Standard stuff and it saved my bacon when I hooked up at a brand new site. The sediment filter had over an inch of sand in the bottom which would have been a disaster to my fresh water system. For the ice maker and drinking water I use the filtered fresh water tank water and this goes through a filter like this that I found at Lowes or Home Depot. http://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-Single-Stage-Water-Filtration-System-GX1S50R/202817739 Replace the cartridge every 6 months or so. I no longer buy bottled water as I have good fresh water that I put in empty water bottles over and over again. The savings are huge.

I have friends that do the whole house RO but it appears to be huge over-kill to me. "To me" an RO system that covers drinking water and the ice maker makes much more sense. Most RO's use 3 gallons of water to make 1 so that's a lot of water going down the drain and it also takes a great deal of time to fill your holding tanks....as in many hours.... Take a look at the GPM flow rate divided by your 100+ gallon holding tanks. Even if you install only an RO system for your drinking water you will have a lot of waste water you need to dispose of. If you dry camp much you can have this waste returned to the fresh water holding tanks but then your fresh water tanks get "dirty" with waste water as time goes by. I would let it drain into the grey tank or on the ground and just know that my water usage is going to be somewhat higher due to the waste water. I use a water softener for the whole house and a high grade water filter for the ice and drinking water and that works very well for me.

Camera Or Mirror For Front-End View Of RV
BillAdams replied to rkbcmoyer@aol.com's topic in Modifications
I assume the OP is looking for a dash cam setup? -
Buy BF Goodrich instead. Same company, same tire but you will save hundreds on the purchase. I was not paying attention and it cost be a bunch when i recently replaced 4 tires. Luckily I did not do all 8 and I will put Goodrich on when I replace the others.

How Do You Know You Are Clear To Pull In After Passing?
BillAdams replied to kaelalynn's topic in Type A motorhomes
Yep, I love shadows! They just aren't of much use from 11am to 1pm and they are often on the wrong side of the coach. -
How Do You Know You Are Clear To Pull In After Passing?
BillAdams replied to kaelalynn's topic in Type A motorhomes
I have not had a rear view camera in many, many years so I use my passenger side mirrors to watch for traffic on that side and to know when it's OK to pull back in. On "my coach" once the truck/car is fully in my mirror then I am far enough past that vehicle to pull back in. It's actually over-kill as I am past them by a good deal but if I need to get back over I am not going to do it until I see the vehicle or they flash me over. That's actually how I know waiting that long is over-kill. When truckers do flash me over I have not gotten far enough ahead for them to fill the mirror. You will learn, if you are interested, in your coach where that margin of safety is while using your mirrors alone. I am currently working to re-install a camera after all these years and thought I was all set until Intec cameras said it would cost $1500-$2000 to adapt my old system and wiring to a new camera. Heck, I can go wireless for $600! or see if I can find a camera system that uses standard wiring or coax that I could solder to the existing wiring run. I've got 15 wires running back there I am sure something could be worked out. The hardwired systems are mostly less than $300! -
As a note to the Ernie recommendation (he just did my carpet replacement) Ernie mostly does wood floors but also does carpet. He does not do tile, or stone, etc.

We are in AL now and will be through Sat. If things look good we will head to FL on Sunday but not head into Central FL until we know that we have somewhere to go and my step-dad has or will be returning home. I lived in FL for 3 years and evacuated twice. I have no desire to put myself in harms way. If the storm loops around again as currently projected and heads back to FL we will be ready to go again should that become necessary.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. The good news is that my Mom's husband would not listen to me but he did listen to someone and has evacuated to a friends house on the West Coast. The news of the track of the hurricane is improving but if it keeps getting stronger I doubt that will matter. Hopefully, we will be able to get there to help in any way that we can. Mom has no more cares so it's just a matter of trying to help those left behind.

Be sure to stop and visit Stone Mountain, GA in Atlanta.

Prevost are only 40' and 45' so not within the OP's range of RV's. They are clearly the best, just not available in less than 40'.

There's no reason to believe you need to pick anything. You will always be able to find a park that will allow you to stay for a day, a week or a year. The good news is that you will even be able to change your mind. I was renting monthly in TX until today when I got the call that my Mother had died. I stopped by the office and said I had to go. They will give me "at least" 1/2 off the rest of the month but it's likely they will just charge me for the time we spent there. Chit happens and you cannot predict when or where. Don't get yourself locked into something you will regret and can't change. It's just camping. Keep it real and keep it where you can enjoy the journey without having to worry about what some board of directors is going to choose to do with your money!

WOW. What a great offer and great person.

Why buy when you can rent. The cost of the lot is not the total cost...by far! There are ongoing maintenance fees and there can be additional fees added at any time should common areas (including roads) need unexpected repairs. There is, of course, also no guarantee that the property will increase in value or even hold its value. Just wait to see what happens when fuel gets back up to $4-5 gallon and see what value that property has.

2017 Jeep Cherokee & Blue Ox
BillAdams replied to mikeandpams's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
As Brett mentions, call Blue Ox. They are great folks and easy to work with. If you are going to be traveling their way and they don't have one, they will give you a free one if you let them use your car as a template! Also, are you aware of the "death wobble" issue with the newer Jeeps? Do you know if the problem has been remedied for 2017 or do you still need to have the dealer install the special wiring kit? -
Review of AmericaChoiceRV in Ocala, Florida: Buyer Beware
BillAdams replied to medico's topic in General Discussion
Yep, don't get the whole finance thing when they owed you about $80,000. Also, you said " Bottom line is we were forced to accept a deal far less than the original offer they gave us." You were not FORCED to do anything. You make a conscience choice to accept an offer that you considered unacceptable. Why did you do that? -
I have had a couple of burnt connections despite not having too much juice. Tech support was great, told we where to look and what to do. I have had 2 issues in the last 17 years and I have been able to fix both. Hope your problem is as easy to fix. Welcome to the World of RVing. If you can't fix it you have to have a big checkbook so someone else can! I have become WAY more handy than I ever wanted to be. The learning curve is pretty steep but you only have to learn it once making the next time a whole lot easier to deal with.
