  1. Call REV at 1-877-466-6226. If yours is like ours the alarm is just above the accelerator pedal, should be fairly simple to test and or replace. Sorry, I miss read your post above.
  2. capkelly, My coach does the same thing (alarm), I have found if I tap the brake pedal (quick stomp) it stops ringing. I bought a new air switch but haven't installed it yet. Give the pedal shot a try and see if it quiets down, supposedly its a common problem on Monaco products for that switch to fail. Mine will alarm while driving down the road. Can't help on the seat belt.
  3. Tarheels293, call CAT with your serial number as recommended above. I worked on many of that era engine, I do not ever remember ever seeing one with a DEF tank. I believe at the time CAT was cashing in credits and never progressed into DEF and abandoned the on highway engine program before running out of govt credits. There is a fluid that was supposed to be added (or recommended anyway) to keep the ARD head from plugging but it is injected into the ARD head at every oil change by a qualified technician (the stuff is really corrosive). Completely different system than DEF/SCR technology. You will most likely have to take that to a CAT dealer to correct the problem.
  4. Kay, thank you. Same to you and your family.
  5. Depending on the year the CRV holds its value. I just bought a 2008 (AWD) with 120,000 miles for $8000. You might have to really go older to get down to your budget. If it were me I would look at the Civic. Just look at gas powered, not CNG, I drove one of those CNG ones for a few weeks, 19 mpg on a car that size was a big down fall.
  6. What will kill the budget is breakdowns and tires. In my opinion these will drive your cost up significantly higher than a gas coach.
  7. We are planning a Florida trip next summer and I am at a loss for nice campgrounds. My oldest is graduating high school and she requested a Florida trip, since she is off to college soon I want it to be memorable. I have the following locations on my list to explore over a 2 week trip. Any campground suggestions or places of interest to see and explore would be greatly appreciated, even if they are not listed below, I can add to the list. Since its a family vacation I will splurge for a resort type of CG as we will only be in once spot for a few days to explore the area if its a nice clean place, which is preferred. Walt Disney World, staying at Fort Wilderness. Sanibel Island, I looked at Red Coconut campground in Ft Myers Fl. Any recommendations in that area for a different campground? St Augustine, Considering Beverly Beach campground. Any recommendations in that area for a different campground? Cape Canaveral. We will day trip out of Fort Wilderness for this. Any recommendations for other must see adventures in that area? While searching I was horrified at the condition of most Florida campgrounds, most don't have websites. I expected the cream of the crop since its a winter destination and what I saw was the opposite .
  8. $1600.00 seems a bit steep for just the part. Since its there, leaking, potential fire hazard or further damage to the fuel system if not fixed, I would ask them to show you, if its really leaking I would have it fixed. Given the situation, it sounds like you really don't have a choice that sounds it will end on a positive note.
  9. Tom, good luck and Merry Christmas. Let us know what the outcome was.
  10. Ray, the rib place we went to with Kay was worth the trip, he and Sue are great people to sit and chat with.
  11. Arriving late to this one but here is a thought.....Personally, I would look at the 2017 towing guide. Look at all of the posts on here with complaints about towing that make and model (previous years of course), see if it was available to tow all 4 down in the year on the forum post, if so move onto the next toad option. While a few are designated as towable all 4 down as we have seen on here that really isn't working out for some people and I wouldn't want that to be me, stuck with a toad that you cant tow or it shakes and wobbles behind the coach. Fighting with the auto maker is not how I want to spend my trip.
  12. Tom, "Check engine" and "Stop engine" lights are usually contributed to serious problem or the ECM (engine computer) thought there was a serious problem from data it saw on a particular sensor. The best solution would be have the fault codes pulled from the computer. Usually "Stop engine" is a result of high coolant temp, low coolant level, low oil pressure. While all of this was going on did you notice and irregularities on any of the gauges i.e. low oil pressure, high coolant temp? Check the fluid levels first, then have it scanned. It could be just a poor connection on the low coolant sensor, since it cleared up before you reached the top of the hill I suspect a sensor, is starting to fail or the connection to it is corroded. If it were anything but that it would have not cleared up until the descend side of the hill i.e. when the engine wasn't pulling so much fuel or the engine temps reached normal operating levels as the load from the powertrain was greatly reduced. The third filter Rich mentioned would be a great idea to check and see if it was replaced, those will leave you stuck and with an expensive repair bill when they clog and it is often missed while in for service.
  13. John, I bought the 303 Aerospace at Napa auto parts. It should be available at most automotive stores.
  14. Blake, worse case the furnace might dictate what refrigerator you purchase. Not a big deal as they will all be larger and colder than what you have now .
  15. Good call!! Also not terribly difficult to accomplish.
  16. pvgsma, try the bleach/water mixture and flush the system. We place it in the fresh tank and drive the coach to agitate the mixture with 1/2-3/4 tank of water, then I will run the pump opening up different faucets throughout the coach to get rid of it and allow it to fill the gray tank at least one time, then pull the gray tank valve (I figured it would help clean that too on the way out). Once the fresh tank is empty I fill it with straight water and run it empty via the pump back through the coach, this usually purges a large portion of the bleach smell. Our first coach sat for three years with old RV antifreeze in it prior to our purchase, no foam but it stunk horribly. here is a video
  17. Ok, if you are headed up I-20 stop at Tannehill Iron works state park. Its 10 minutes off of I-20 north of Tuscaloosa AL. They have full hook ups (50 amp) and pull through sites, the place is beautiful. If it were me I would spend a day or two there and just take in all of the history at the CG. here's the link http://www.tannehill.org/
  18. Coming to a town near here (Southeastern PA) this weekend . Tireman I feel your pain.....come on April....
  19. We were at our HR club Christmas luncheon on Saturday swapping stories, this interchange came up in discussion, one couple had to cross it in an ice storm with their coach . Puff, glad you are making progress. That I-10 has to be the most unentertaining road, hopefully the weather stays decent for you. Be safe!!
  20. Pressure pro saved my tail 2x. Once a valve stem extension started to leak another time I had a tire tread loose. I like being able to toggle through my pressures before leaving.
  21. Perhaps it's the high five interstate? I have heard about this but never experienced it.
  22. Is your gel coat chalky and dry? If so I would use the kit. If not just the gelcoat wax will suffice. It will take a lot of elbow grease but the finished product will be great. After you can just keep the wax on it and it will look new
