    Maxxforce Engine

With the engine being less than optimal we are thinking this might not be the right coach. So it is back to the drawing board. What are all your opinions of new HR, it has a model with the all important bath and 1/2. I know engine would have all pollution controls. Roland

Brett, You are correct it is the ISC engine with exhaust brake. Should this be a red flag? Also what about the few miles vs age?

Since it doesn't use DEF I hope it is an 07, I have vin # and will check Monday.

    Maxxforce Engine

I need advice, I am looking at a 2008 Monaco Knight 40 DFT. It has a Cummins ISL 360 engine with no DEF and a RR8R chassis. It is a bath and 1/2 and appears in very good condition. It only has 14000 miles on it, I know this is a negative. The owners live in Arizona and use it to vacation in California. I am going to go see it as soon as I can get flight. How much concern is the engine and what othe concerns do you have? Thanks all for your help! Roland

That was the trouble we had coming home from Arizona 2 weeks age, gusts up to 40mph. I could keep coach in lane but with much effort. Not fun to drive. Roland

Thank you Carl, that also is my concern. Right now it seems that Monaco and Fleetwood Revolution are the top contenders for our needs. I am following up on a lead for each and I am sure I will have further questions. Thank you all! Roland

I have not contacted PPL yet, price seen to good to be true for this year of coach. That is why I question the engine.

I am looking at a 2012 Monaco coach with the Maxxforce engine. Is this the Navistar engine that went under? Coach is priced at what seems to be a real bargain $142,000 but it has this engine. I think I know the answer but this is one I should pass on I guess. Roland
  12. Thanks for the help.
  13. The wheel base is 278" and overall length is 40' 11".
  14. Carl, I am looking at a Fleetwood Revolution which has a Spartan Liberty chassis. It is 40' long with no tag. Has a 400hp cat C9. I was wondering if that would help with my wind ride? Coach is 2007 so I have inquired if engine was made in 2006. Roland
  15. Is anyone familiar with the Spartan Liberty Chassis used in the Fleetwood Revolution LE 40 E. It has a 400hp Cat C9.
  16. Thanks Blake, I have made inquiries about it and unfortunately it might be sold. It would be perfect for what we want. I had emailed Brett W. about the engine in it, a Cat C 9. This is certainly the type of MH we want. Roland
  17. Sorry I haven't been back but there was a problem with forum website and I was unable to log on. I have been in communication with Brett about his coach, a real beauty. Unfortunately it really doesn't meet our needs. You may recall we want an extra 1/2 bath to be able to take our disabled son with us and a king size bed. Brett and I have also been talking about a 2008 Beaver Contessa at MotorHome of Texas. It would meet our needs, my only concern is that it has a Cat C9 engine. I am waiting on more info from MOT and if it turned out that we are still interested I have talked to Brett about possibly doing an inspection with me. Anyone with thoughts on this coach please chime in! Roland
  18. Does anyone of you live near MotorHome of Texas?
  19. My current coach isa diesel pusher. Right now we are at near weight in the front, would you advise trying extra weigh/t even over manufactures limit? In high wind I can keep it in lane but it is a constant battle.
  20. Carl, I do have a safety plus installed, it helped with truck turbulence but I have a real problem with side wind, into or with the wind is no problem. We looked into rejuvenating our coach but don't feel the cost is worth doing if we won't end up being happy. On this forum I inquired about new MH or used and the advice was probably used for the best bang for the buck. A few dealers in Texas were recommended and there are many choices, thus my question about ride and weight/tag axle. If stepping up to a larger, heavier coach is what is needed than this will be what we try to do. Roland
  21. Brett, The wheelbase is 252" and the overall length is 38' 4". The GVWR is 28,000# and I tow a Jeep Cherokee which is approx. 4200# Roland
  22. I have had coach weighed and adjusted the tire pressure accordingly to 95# per wheel according to manufacturers table with a 10% allowance added. Not that the ride was bad but wind moved us around much more than normal.
  23. We crossed Texas the past 3 days and encountered winds averaging 20-30 mph. I slowed down to 55-58 mph to feel safe but still had a rougher ride than I like. After checking into what redoing our coach to upgrade it we feel that getting something newer and larger would give us more bang for the buck. Per previous recommendations from the list we are going to look at MotorHomes of Texas for a higher end used vehicle. Does a tag axle improve ride? On our current coach we put Bilstien shocks, new steer tires and had an alignment. This did help ride. Just can't get everything we want in this coach.
  24. Am I correct in thinking that a heavier vehicle weight will give a better ride? My current MH is 28000# and 38' in length. I am considering moving up to a 40' to 42' at about 38000 to 40000#. My question centers on ride quality and handling in wind.
  25. Looking for park recommendations in the Odessa-Midland Texas area. thanks, Roland
