  1. Att has the Mobley in stock with 2-3 day shipping. Ordered mine today. Had enough with FMCA fiasco, will see next year when time to renew if I will.
  2. The exit from FMCA by many current members. Interests are at play here which don't have the general membership as their main concern
  3. Follow the money, someone has something to gain.
  4. In the greed to get new members the existing members were thrown to the trash. Poor organization skills.
  5. I just called and was told that the program had been shut down and no other information at this time. Would be notifying members some time in the future. And they wonder why there is a membership problem.
  6. Is the proposed change one that all membership will vote on or just the board? If it is only the board we need to consider removing them and supporting a new board more in tune to our interests. If the whole membership will vote than we need to undertake a program of promotion to all current members as to what they stand to lose if this issue passes. I feel we are a motorhome organization and should never change from that, I already belong to Good Sam and do not need another same type membership.
  7. I think you old men need to get a hobby! 😀 You have to much free time.
  8. The engine should start even with the transaxle in neutral. I suspect that there is something wrong with the fuse or fuse switch . I had a 2015 and had no problems, moved up to Grand Cherokee for larger vehicle. When you are doing the setup and disconnect be sure you have the doors shut.
  9. Bill, Did the Mobley require you to sign a long term contract? I have heard that Mobley is very hard to find now. Roland
  10. It seems to me that the younger members needs could be best met by local chapters or groups. A 3 day weekend doesn't allow for any significant travel if activities like being proposed are undertaken. Also with fewer people in attendance perhaps better alignment on what activities are wanted would occur. From personal experiences when I was in my 30's and early 40's our vacations were centered around our children and family things. As we grew older and the kids were out on their own my wife and I traveled but did not participate in structured trips preferring to do our own thing. Now in our late 60's once again the motor home is our travel mode and we enjoy meeting new friends. We value FMCA for this forum, the magazine and the other current benefits. For others the social activities might be important. My point is that we all have different ideas about what we like and do, trying to fit all of us in one mold doesn't work.
  11. What benefits would younger (35-45) people value that FMCA could provide? Meetings and education are good for some but I would venture that most in this age group would rather have family events. I doubt that most in this age group are interested in maintaining their own coach and many of them have newer coaches. I still think that FMCA needs a greater effort to attract the 55 and above crowd, there are far to many people out there in this age group who have no idea what FMCA is or what it provides. Younger members should certainly be encouraged but unless there is a total makeover of FMCA I don't see them as the savior. Roland
  12. Mike, It seems what you are describing would be a local gathering which could be handled by regional clubs. I don't think you would have many people outside of your area wanting to travel 500+ miles to see a regional sporting event. Most of us would much rather spend the time and money to see our own teams. That being said, perhaps FMCA needs to promote more mini local events and publish the ones that are currently held. One issue against the weekends is that many of us have them planned out far in advanced and getting a group together at a campground on weekends might be hard due to limited site availablity. The real issue for FMCA is to decide who is its target audience, trying to be for everyone usually means not doing the best job for anyone. What you said is very true, what you like and what someone else likes will often be different. Compromise to a limited point is good but then it becomes not satisfactory for all. Roland
  13. Keon, It would be nice if everyone who reads the forum would make the commitment you have made but unfortunately most don't. As my post stated I certainly would not want to discourage younger members, but unless they are like you and take direction from the forum there is not as much for them as there is for the older member. That is why we are discussing ways to sustain the club. Perhaps a moderate increase in dues and a better dissemination of club material will help but if we are to become another Camping World (Good Sam) club I fear that we are domed to a declining membership.
  14. I have not had that problem with Progressive, I have used them for nearly 3 years and have seen very little change in my yearly premium. Roland
  15. As I recall there is a wildlife sanctuary just north of Sanibel Island. Sanibel has one of the best shelling beaches in Florida, be sure to wear foot protection. Roland
  16. I would hate to see us become another Good Sam Club. I think our target audience is the 50 and older group, not to say that younger members should be discouraged but our current benefits favor the older member. I deal with younger people regularly in my profession and their desires and time allotment are different than most older people, they favor much shorter trips and flying to destinations instead of driving. Perhaps the one group of people we could connect with are the fifth wheel travelers, often they have the same desires and time constraints we have. Roland
  17. How much of a dues increase would it take to keep FMCA benefits the same as now with no increase in membership? As has been previously stated not all of our current benefits would help TT and if they became the majority we would suffer. Roland
  18. What was the weather like at this time of the year?

    Flooring

I have seen pictures of Ernie's work and it looks very good but for me not practical since I live in southern Michigan. Indiana is only 21/2 hours from me. New Debut does the renovations for Precision Painting, so far they seem good people to deal with.
  20. Steve, I had a 2015 Cherokee which I towed with the same system.I charged the Patriot battery at night and used all day without any problem. I never had the wobble problem but my dealer installed the modification as soon as it was available. We towed this SUV for 2 years , over 8000 miles. Just changed to Grand Cherokee because we went down to one vehicle. As long as you charge the Patriot battery you shouldn't have any problem. Roland
  21. Thanks Carl, guess mine will come soon.
  22. Any idea when the Diesel RV Club July meeting activity schedule will be available?

    Mattress

We are having the night stands removed when we have the new flooring installed. We currently have a queen which is 60"x 80" long, standard length. Will be able to have rv king which is 72" x 80". Standard king is 76" x 80". I am wondering about some of the online order mattresses because they come in rv sizes, just would like to hear from someone who has used them.
