  1. 2005 - 2007 is the time frame I am looking at. We are looking for bath and 1/2 with king bed and dish washer for the boss. Really would like to find one close to Michigan but would travel if I had to.
  2. Is there a list or video giving ideas for mh inspection before purchase? Not being a mechanic I am not well versed in such things, I have learned much from the forum but still not qualified. I have very little faith in dealers.
  3. Indy, Is your coach a 2006 engine without DPF? Did you purchase from dealer or private seller? Roland
  4. Thanks Joe, depending where I buy I am going to try to get someone to help with the inspection,
  5. Weiland just south of Saginaw should be able to help you. They are otr truck shop that does work on mh.
  6. Thank you to all who have helped to educate me and helped me make a better choice. As Blake said, the glamour of new is attractive but not made the same.
  7. I believe that both units have a fiberglass one piece roof. Right now there are 7 units for sale in the model we like and according to Newmar dealer in our area the next 2 months should bring several more. Just won't give enough for my trade so I am going to sell it. I plan to price it around $58,000.00 to leave a little room for negotiations.
  8. Carl, We are in the process of making our current coach ready for sale. I like both the Mountain Aire and Dutch Star, when our coach is sold we will see what is available. Roland
  9. Thanks Bill, In the end I guess it has to be what my wife and I want, the older well taken care of coach has what we want and is at a price that is much more doable. Roland
  10. Thanks Blake, That dose of reality is a big factor! Roland
  11. As many of you know I am in the process of finding and purchasing a new to me motorhome. I have narrowed down my choice to a Newmar Dutch Star or Newmar Mountain Aire, both of which have the floor plan we want. A question comes to mind, I am looking at 2006 or 2007 models which satisfy our wants and have an engine without all of the pollution devices added on. We are 69 years old and hope to do this for several more years. As you may remember we have a disabled son who lives with us and an older married son. My older son will use the mh now and take it over when we are done. I anticipate that will be 10 years from now or so which would make the mh 20 years old, at that point he would probably be stuck with having to get a newer unit from the 2017 or 2018 class. I maintain my coachs to the letter but can't imagine a 20 year old coach not needing a lot of work. What are your thoughts on this, would this be a reason to consider something newer now? Roland
  12. Highly recommend the red bus tour on going to the sun road, that way you can enjoy the trip and be a rubber neck this is probably the most memorable trip we have made. Our sons who were 12 and 7 at the time still remember this and now they are in their 40"s Roland
  13. It seem that all of the high end coaches that I have seen if they have a rock guard at the back of the coach have it placed to be 6" or more above the ground. Is this significant? All also have mud flaps just behind the back wheels (drive wheels). Many have advocated that with mud flaps a rock guard isn't needed. Herman get to work with NASA and get this figured out! Roland
  14. On another forum the subject of towing 4 wheels down with no rock guard on motorhome came up. Some there felt that the toad and back of motorhome stayed cleaner without the rock guard and only mud flaps behind the dual wheels. Has anyone done this here and what were the results? Roland
  15. Thanks all for the replies. I am going to try to remove the motor tomorrow and proceed from there. Just trying to get there coach ship shape before I sell it. Roland
  16. Motor is rusted and doesn't work. Anyone replaced it themselves or is this best left to trained tech?
  17. I want to sell my current Motorhome and was wondering where is the best place to begin? Listing it in local paper, RV Trader, consignment with dealer? I think that a private sale would net me more dollars. Any advice would be appreciated. Roland

    Maxxforce Engine

Thanks Carl, I am going to find out tomorrow but I think all 3 engines will be pre 2007. Since they all are out of state it will involve some travel on my part but worth it to get a good coach that fits our needs. Roland

    Maxxforce Engine

Thanks Brett, the unit is located in Cleveland Tx. If I would go this way would this be in the area that you could evaluate for me? Roland

    Maxxforce Engine

Joe, One of the Newmars I am lookig at has a build date of 2005 in March, could that possibly mean that the engine would be a 2004? How would that fare with the pollution additions?

    Maxxforce Engine

Looks like to satisfy our needs we are looking at either Newmar Dutch Star / Mountain Aire 2005 to 2007 or Fleetwood Revolution 40 LE of the same years. I am inclined to the Newmars because of the engine and chassis they use. Any further recommendations you can all offer would be appreciated. Roland

My wife found a 2007 Fleetwood Revolution with Cat C9 2006 engine. The chassis is Spartan Mountain Master. Engine has 29000 miles on it. Vin. 4VZBR1J967C057344. Engine # 9DG08487 Thoughts from the tribe on this one?
