Looks great Bill!

That is what retirement is all about, work when you want and make merry when ever possible!

It’s a beautiful 70˚ in Aransas Pass and going to 75˚ later this afternoon. Getting ready for our neighborhood daily happy hour.

We are here thru March, then plan to go to Castroville for a few weeks.

Southern Oaks luxury RV park on 35 Bypass by Aransas Pass.

We are at Aransas Pass. After working with Progressive claims people they ask me to wait until we returned to Michigan, so I will take coach to Indiana when we return home. There are of course several shops there that only deal with MH. Mike’s Custom Painting is one that I have heard good reports about. If you know of others let me know. Roland

I am happy to report that the costal bend area (Fulton, Rockport, Port Aransas and Corpus Christi) has really come back from hurricane Harvey. The improvements from last year are amazing! Great area for us winter Texans, good food, great people and plenty to do. Building continues at a good pace.

As a retired Optometrist I can tell you that I would much rather have cataract surgery in USA. While this is typically a moderate to low risk surgery things can go wrong including loss of vision due to surgical mistakes. Medicare covers 80% of the cost and if you have supplemental insurance you will probably pay nothing for standard surgery.

Thanks all for input, didn’t get time to look at forum until later today. We will be in Aransas Pass tomorrow and hopefully insurance will contact me Thursday . I will call James then. Thank you again for the help. I have done some checking and it might be a possibility to rent a trailer and put it on my site for the duration of the repair. Will hopefully know more Thursday. Roland

I believe the doors are aluminum. Some of the trim is plastic or vinyl.

We are at Lufkin TX and will be at Aransas Pass January 1st.

Herman, it happened in Michigan, where we have no fault insurance which I hate. Grew up and lived in Ohio for 43 years and if you had an accident with other guy at fault he paid but in michigan you pay no matter who’s at fault. After I see adjuster I will have better idea what can be done.
-
Now that you mention It we do have a rider on insurance for vacation interruption. I wonder if they could rent a trailer and park it on our site while repair being done. Have to wait till I talk to adjuster. We will need at least 3 new doors as they are torn. happened in our home state of Michigan which is no fault insurance so other party not involved unless progressive goes after them.
-
It was a low trailer so all the lower outside bin doors are chewed up and creased. I imagine they will have to replace all the doors and since my unit is a 2005 that might be hard to find.

We have had the unfortunate happen to our MH, we were sideswiped by a bulldozer flatbed trailer and all of the passenger bin doors are damaged. Progressive is sending an adjuster to our campground in Aransas Pass when we get there this week, they said we could get repair in Texas or wait until we get home to Michigan in May. Thankfully no on was hurt. The downside to getting repair in Texas is that we would have no place to live for the duration of repair, the upside might be having adjuster here who made the repair estimate. Any thoughts or ideas? Roland

Good hollidays to all!

Carl, we have moved up our leave date to next week. Cold is getting to my wife. We are headed to Aransas Pass For 3 months and then Castroville for a month.
-
Yes Carl, that was my idea. Run the generator every 3-4 weeks for 45-60 minutes, but take the starting batteries home to keep them charged on trickle charger. We were at 12 degrees today!
-
Does the generator start off of the house batteries or the engine starting batteries? I am considering removing the starter batteries to charge at home and would like to run the generator while RV is in storage.
-
Same to everyone! Hope to have a chance to see you Carl when we are in Texas this winter. Roland

Thank you to the great men and women who served our country and kept us safe. -
I agree Wayne, we feel very safe in Aransas Pass. If we were to camp on the beach with no one else around I would have more concern and be ready to defend myself but I don’t think the danger is greater than dry camping anywhere else. I would include Walmarts and state rest areas.

Ray, we stay at Aransas Pass which is very near. I don’t think this could happen in our park. Where they staying on the island on the beach? Roland

The straw cleaner works great as a gun cleaning tool also, helps getting into tight places.
