  1. I'm going to do the same. Been dumping for 35 years with minimal problems. My exhaust temp at the turbo outlet is less than 300f degrees and if the unit doesn't work good below 550f, it certainly won't at idle dry camping. Since I spend much more time stopped than running 55-65 mph I would never get empty and still have to dump at a conventional station.
  2. What I have used is a couple of camping sleeping mats available at Wal mart for about $7 each. They are about 1/2 inch thick and about 20 inches wide and 72 inches long. Cut out where the towbar brackets come through. I secure to the front of the vehicle with 6 foot bungie cords. I have traveled coast to coast, border to border, including a month in Alaska for the last 12 years and never had a mark on the front end. I towed a Chev Silverado about 120,000 miles.
  3. There are power strips available that have one sense outlet which when a load is sensed it turns on other outlets. These are 120 volt and I have gotten them a Radio Shack quite some time ago.
  4. I have seen several coaches painted by Mike's paint shop in Bremen Indiana. I am going to have my 93 DP painted on my way to the FMCA Indy convention next summer.
  5. The engineer I spoke with said that over filling and disconnecting the cooler line was the way they do it at the factory. It might not be the way they want the average do it you selfer to do it. This is the least expensive way to change almost 100% of the fluid the first time. We always degrease the fittings and hose before disconnecting to prevent dirt contamination.
  6. Its possiblle to feed audio from the satellite receiver to the surround amp through the coax or optical cable. You can run the sound from your bluray player the same way. Remember if you run video thru any cable but hdmi or cat 5 the picture quality will suffer. You will no longer have HD. The only problem with running the hdmi through the surround amp is that you must have the amp on all the time. If you are running on inverter that is a lot of current draw. The amp will draw about 3 times more current than an LED LCD HD tv.
  7. If the cracks keep expanding it must be more that gelcoat cracking. If the fiberglass is moving it must be stabilized before gelcoat will not crack. The process is not cheap but may be required.
  8. Is your new unit for portable use and not hard wire? If it is a hard wire model you should be able to install it after the transfer switch.
  9. The water heater is mounted from the outside. If you can't get to the element from the inside you will have to remove the unit. You might want to test the various components to determine if it is the element.
  10. When I changed to TranSynd I asked one of the engineers at the Allison booth at the FMCA convention how he would do it. He said to fill the trans 3 quarts over full and disconnect the cooler line and start the engine until 3 quarts comes out and shut off the engine and reconnect cooler lines then run and adjust the level. This would replace the the fluid in the converter. This was several years ago. The filters are also changed.
  11. At one time Remco had a axle disconnect for front wheel drive cars. It involved cutting the axle and installing the devise. It had a collar that rotated to lock and unlock. I don't know if they still make it or not, check with them.
  12. I remember the old system, I believe it was Thermo San, we disabled a number of them because they did not work. I remember having to change out exhaust pipes because of rusting out with all the moisture present. I would think you would need to install stainless exhaust pipes. I will have to see what this system is and see someone use it for at least a year or two before passing judgement. This is one time you don't want to be an early adopter.
  13. It is not an easy drive to get to the tunnel from the west. Steep and sharp turns. I have done it but would not recommend it. The tunnel is the only road that is closed to oncomming so the motorhome can go through in the center of the road because of the overhead clearance. You must make arrangements ahead of time and there is a fee involved.
  14. I have used 303 on my decals for 10 years to preserve them as long as possible. Product works very good. However my coach is a 93 and now the decals have reached the end of their useful life. Going to have the coach painted to correct the problem.
  15. I've had good luck with Roadmaster sway bar and steering stabilizer on a Tuthill IFS.
  16. In situations like this we use a heat gun, which is a industrial version of a hair dryer, and heat the hose until pliable enough. Also spray with WD 40 helps. Be sure the hose is the right size. The id has to be the od of the flat part of the tubing so that the barb is slightly larger. Sometimes the tank and the fill tube are of different diameters, requiring a tapered hose.
  17. Try a wrecking yard, they have access to yards across the country.
  18. I just turned my computer off and rebooted and I am still logged in. Even at home my desktop stays logged in. The only way to have to log in again is if I log out. I'm using windows 7.
  19. As long as I don't log out it stays logged in for days or weeks.
  20. If the front end looks like a dodge van it's probably a dodge van cut off.
  21. We are located in Lk Havasu City, Az. We have been in our current location since 1981. I don't know anybody in the Sacramento area.
  22. I would not shim it with washers if the floor is not steel. I have seen this done on plywood floors and the washers just sink into the wood. Make a solid wedge shim that covers the entire base out of wood. We have also done this several times over the years.
  23. What size tire do you have? I have always carried a spare in the last 35 years and 10 motorhomes ago. You have to build support brackets hold the tire and wheel with some cross members with 4 lug bolts so that I secure it solid. The problem of lifting it into position was solved by installing a 1500 lb 12 volt winch above the assembly and I have a push button control up and down. Sorry for the typo. I tried to correct it and the more I tried the worse it got. When I tried to insert new letters it would elliminate the next letter. If you are at Indianapolis I would be glad to show the latest version.
  24. Using a 30 amp Bosch type cube relay is the most efficient way to isolate the charge line. Use a toggle switch to activate the relay or trigger wire from mh ignition switch.
  25. If it is not possible to move the base over to center it, the post can be cut and rewelded in the correct alignment and the base remounted in it's original position. We have done this several times in our business over the last 30 or so years. Early Pace Arrows were famous for this.
