If you come, make sure to find a good fish fry as well. And a local cheese store. There's actually lots to see and do in Wisconsin. Sometimes we just pick a small town nearby and gov visit - nothing like being tourists and still being able to go home at night. We've even spent a day discovering new things in our own area just by wandering around as if we were tourists. Likely we'll be keeping the coach closer to home this year, once we can travel again. Hopefully we can discover lots of new things like this.
hermanmullins Report post Posted March 31, 2020 Richard, a company I once work for had a plant in Decora, Iowa. As we traveled there from Rockford, Illinois we went through Northwest Wisconsin. We stopped at onc the the cheese factories. There I discovered Cheese Curds. They were great with the squeaky feeling when you bit into one. I purchased 5 packages to take home. A week or so after I got home I wanted some Cheese Curds. When I got them out of the refrigerator I found that they had moulded. Do you have any idea how hard it is to cut mould off a Cheese Curd? hermanmullins Report post Posted March 31, 2020 Will do. Sound like something they tried for the Fair and it went over good. Each year here in Texas they have a contest to see who can come up with the tastiest fried food. One of the best was the Battered and Fried Oreo Cookies. I will look forward to the fried Cheese Curds. Thanks, Herman

I agree with you. Many people will go thousands of miles to see what is in your backyard and the things you drive by and take for granted and have never visited. We had fun exploring and setting up things to do and see when hosting a couple of rallies for clubs we belong to. Made me think of something fun. Arlington Texas is a city in between Ft Worth and Dallas. When driving back and forth on the freeways you see the city limits sines but you/we don't think much about it mostly "yep there is Arlington" Yet if you came up on Arlington out on the plains by itself you would be going WOW. Because Arlington is a fairley big city (48th largest in US) but because where it is it's "yep there is Arlington". But it is an interesting place to explore. It has the newest most advanced ball park in the world (Globe Life Field). I am planning on a tour after this mess calms down. So go explore around where you live and yes I have two much time on my hands this morning. Bill

dbenoit Report post Posted May 8, 2020 Strafford/ Lake Winny South KOA. Since they opened last weekend almost all campgrounds are booking fast. Hampton Beach is still closed, which is our fav. Getting the boat ready tomorrow, so can always go fishing. Squid are moving in with the big ones right behind them.
manholt Report post Posted May 8, 2020 When we where last at a Amish Market, we asked, "how do you prevent mold on curds?" She said, "Freeze them, in food saver bags or zip lock!" Been doing that a lot, since we can get it in both Fredericksburg, Amish Market & Durant, OK. 3 miles before Casino! 😁

Have you ever been to the wooden boat show on/at Lake Winnipesaukee? http://weirsbeach.com/reasons-to-visit/events/antique-boat-show/ We will probably try to stay up at New Found Lake at Newfound RV Park later if we can get up that way later in the summer. hermanmullins Report post Posted May 14, 2020 I have noticed a lot of the answers to different Topics and posting are getting a little testy. More so as we have gotten further into this "Shelter in Place". Here on the Forum we are all folks that like to get out and travel. We love to see new places, visit places we have been before, visit old friends and to make new friends. So as we sit in front of our computers or on our Smartphones lets all take a moment to relax, take another sip on the drink of your choice and think about how to respond to a topic and in a nice way, not in a condescending way that is sure to make the other person mad. Remember the Forum is here for those needing help with their RVs and for those with knowledge to help. There have been several thousand good questions asked and answered here. So let's get along and keep helping others. Herman
elkhartjim Report post Posted May 14, 2020 We've taken this opportunity to spend time in northern New Mexico. The park in Angel Fire is first class, https://angelfirervresort.com/ . The day we drove to Red River, NM, it was raining when we left Angel Fire but then turned to snow driving over the Palo Flechado Pass (9000 ft). The restaurants are only doing takeout in NM so we've been eating in mostly, besides, I can cook a better than average meal on my pellet cooker. We've made reservations at Rafter J Bar Ranch in the Custer area of SD in early June, back to Spicewood, TX for 4th of July celebration and then to upstate NY for most of July and August. We have a 21 days Baltic cruise scheduled August 21 but that is still up in the air. Air travel is our major concern. Other than that, we're getting our fill of Netflix. manholt Report post Posted May 14, 2020 Jim, Linda here! What are you using to watch netflix? Cell phone or wifi card? Do you have any type of cell phone booster? Just thought I would check! I have a booster but with new coach haven't found way to secure the pole to coach that has the antenna on it. We have no ladder. Also need to find a way to get the cable into the coach from the antenna to the booster inside! Always looking for new ideas! Linda
hermanmullins Report post Posted May 14, 2020 Linda, there are flag stands that you roll one wheel on. Might work for your booster. I have seen them at CW but I am sure others have them. One thing you'll don't need is a ladder that so the old cogger can get on top of the coach, pardon me, that the young cogger. I keep forgetting he is younger than me. 😉 Herman
elkhartjim Report post Posted May 14, 2020 I'm currently using park Wifi but often use either my Verizon cell hotspot or Paula's ATT hotspot for streaming. I do not have a booster and can usually stream via cell phone if either of us has mediocre cell reception. Check Wilson and see if they have a mount that would work. https://www.wilsonamplifiers.com/accessories/mounts?utm_medium=ppc&utm_campaign=Wilson+Antennas&utm_source=adwords&utm_term=wilson antenna mount&hsa_kw=wilson antenna mount&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_tgt=kwd-3043628683&hsa_mt=e&hsa_acc=5776060852&hsa_ver=3&hsa_cam=168952074&hsa_ad=231314104298&hsa_grp=8960175594&hsa_src=g&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2PP1BRCiARIsAEqv-pShYKAg3jgu77OzeDqLO4pJP0l2-kguRf9o6AFZNWvYHZPtXQcnMpAaAoeIEALw_wcB
manholt Report post Posted May 14, 2020 Jim, she does a lot of shopping at wilson..2 booster's (1 currently in Three Rivers), since we don't have a ladder in back, the pole dos'nt work. We both have Verizon Jet Packs, hers is bigger than mine! I have no problems anywhere, I use Airplane mode.
hermanmullins Report post Posted May 14, 2020 How does Airplane made help? Do you set your phone or MiFi on it. I have never used Airplane mode before. Here it about 65 and sunny with a 15 to 20 mph wind. Washing the coach now. Got the sunny side done before it got to drying to fast. Now on to the shadyside. And I am doing it all without a mask on.🤪 Herman
hermanmullins Report post Posted May 14, 2020 Carl, Larry Huff has his amplifier mounted on his over the air antenna. I don't know how he routed it but it goes up with his OTA antenna. You might ask him. Herman
