  1. FMCA is the only forum I frequent that doesn't have an app. I agree Richard, the younger folks go to the App Store immediately, heck, I did too when I started using my iPad when traveling. FMCA loads so slow that if I'm on a weak network it will time out sometimes but when using the apps for other forums it eliminates that issue. Herman, you may want to pass this along to the appropriate geek squad folks.
  2. I'm interested in obtaining internet through this plan but I don't have the patience to spend days getting signed up. Hopefully, this will all get ironed out in the next few months.
  3. Be careful Herman....Wash and Wax is the subject. LOL See its hard isn't it.
  4. And then he, Roland (rfsod48) the original poster, asked about golf courses in the RGV. So you're saying he should have started a new thread asking about public or private courses where he is asking about the weather? What about if know some really good places to eat or places to visit in the RGV, I should start a new thread? I guess I missed the memo on no deviations or additional information can be shared unless a new thread is started. Give me a little time, I'm sure I'll adapt.
  5. The OP asked a question about golf. Are the rules now the original poster of a thread can't ask a question that is not on the exact original topic? He did ask about golf courses in the RGV.
  6. Place battery disconnect switch off, inverter off, charger on, set Magnum controller to 20amps. If you want to add suspenders to your belt, set your AGM to start the genset at low voltage.
  7. It is a Dutch Star and I say that because he has posted the exact question in the Newmar section on iRV2. Most Dutch Star owners refer to it asa DSDP, Dutch Star Diesel Pusher. Most refer to our Ventana as a VTDP., it's a Newmar thing I guess.
  8. There are plenty of public courses. We stay at Llano Grande and they have a golf course.
  9. I drove in a 25mph gusting to 35mph wind today and never considered stopping. Driving from Big Bend recently we had wind warnings of gust to 50 and we didn't stop. The Newmar comfort steer and a tag axle make for a pretty comfortable drive in high winds. Just another benefit of a heavy class A motorhome.
  10. I don't know what your handicap is but mine is my putter.
  11. Or return it to Prgressive for a new one, lifetime warranties are nice.
  12. There isn't anyway I could use tabs on my all aluminum wheels. I never had anything but bad luck using the hoses on my old motorhome. When I replaced the tires on my last motorhome, the tire dealer told me I should throw the hoses away which I had already planned on doing. The solid metal extensions have always worked without any problems.
  13. I've used both. My last motorhome had a lot of space in the electrical compartment so I permanently mounted it. My present coach didn't have the room so I'm using the portable model. I had the permanent one mounted for almost 10 years with absolutely no problems. My current portable unit has been in use since last August. I've lost count the number of times it's saved me due to wiring problems, high and low voltage and ground issues. Progressive industries is the manufacturer.
  14. Yikes! I can see where that brought forth some choice words along with sliced knuckles.
  15. I'm curious as to how you would suggest one "firmly bolt down the outer the end" on an aluminum wheel or a wheel simulator? For me, drilling and tapping into my aluminum wheel Is not an option.
  16. We're in Rockport now. I have not seen any parks closed other than Goose Island State Park and they reopen March 1. We are going to the RGV the middle of April just as we did last year. The parks will be virtually empty of winter Texans unless there are some freak late winter storms. Since global warming is in effect, I'm sure it will be in the upper 90's in Canada by Easter. We will most likely stay at Llano Grande the year. Check them out Roland. They have a first time visitor program offering two weeks free or at least they did last year. We stay in the north section. Nice park.
  17. Like Herman said, you were blessed. I do have one comment on the insurance adjusters statement...bunk. I spent way too many years in the body shop business and rarely do you find an adjuster that knows the difference in a quarter panel and a fender and now they are experts on motorhome safety. I would almost bet that unless she's been in the business for 25 years plus she has seen less than a handful of motorhome wrecks. I have friends in the motorhome collision repair business and they usually need to write the estimate for the insurance adjuster because there are no programs or books that give estimated time and material costs on rv repairs. All that being said, I don't like to hear statements like, "if that had been a new one you would have never..." because they don't have a clue. Ask the Leo's that investigate wrecks whether a new rv or an old rv is safer an see what the response is, no idea, it depends on the circumstances. If larger heavier vehicles are safer, why are adjusters driving the smallest car available? You can kick my soapbox out from under me now.
  18. Only if in chrome, Joe. You could chip it and blow black smoke while you're at it.
  19. Wayne is over near Dickinson and yes, you need gills to handle the humidity. We are in the Texas Hill Country, about 40 miles south of Carl. Where Herman lives makes him dang near a yankee.
  20. Wayne, you mention the horn, the Newmar has that blankety blank beeper that will wake the dead whenever I shift in to reverse. Thankfully, I rarely if ever arrive in a campground late or I would have to pull in or risk getting shot.
  21. That is about the most convoluted rambling I've heard recently. Come on down, you'll fit in just fine. FYI, the humidity is always low in the Big Bend area but unless you want to be an oarsman on a float trip down the Rio Grande, there aren't many jobs. After I built my building I learned to always build it at least 25% bigger than you think you'll ever need. I built t for my motorhome and pickup. Didn't know about the Jeep, golf cart and side by side I was going to buy.
  22. My local Shell has accepted my multi color capital one visa for up to 80 gallons within the last week or so. I had to re-swipe the card 3 times however.
  23. I can honestly say, I don't think I've ever been in a campground where there wasn't someone available to be a spotter. Now if you come in late, that can be an issue. Two things I will never do is back up without a spotter or backup when I can't see the spotter in my outside mirror(s). With all that being said, a 26ft motorhome is almost like backing a Suburban. I suggest finding an empty parking lot, (church, school, shopping center, etc) and practice your backing. Use your cones or whatever you have available to simulate a parking space and practice backing in to it. Practice, practice, practice. Good luck.
