  1. Our Newmar has a headboard for the king size bed and it's in the slide out. If I remember, and that's a big if, I'll look at mine today and see how it's attached. Like Bill suggested, call Newmar customer support.
  2. Sounds like all the others, Ross. Low rates and longevity don't really mean much in today's world when it comes to customer service and satisfaction. Camping World is a good example. Walmart is another.
  3. Yesterday I had my pickup and my wife's car inspected in Blanco, Tx. As always, they checked if all lights worked the operation of the brakes and turn signals. I paid my $14 for both. When I got home, my wife noticed I had a brake light out on my truck. Was it out when it was inspected or did it go out when I pulled in the driveway? For this reason I think the so called safety inspection is a waste of time. From the information I got from my state representative, the bill to do away with the inspection never passed because of the revenue loss. So basically we are required to get a safety inspection for financial reasons rather than a safety reason.
  4. That sure is a big area you're asking about. Have you thought about narrowing it down some or about doing a Google search?
  5. At the rate Kallyfornions are fleeing their state and moving to Texas with our low taxation, there may not be that much traffic by 2019.
  6. I use the Garmin RV660LMT and I always check using the Truckers Atlas. Any or I should say all GPS units will get you in trouble if your not careful.
  7. You guys are making my head hurt with all the this balancing stuff. Simple problem to solve, Joe, let your wife drive and you sit in the dining area holding her clothes.
  8. Just sure as shoot'n, y'all are gonna get this thread shut down, heck, it's just now getting fun. Joe, the original poster Joe, do you mind we've chased a bunch of different rabbit trails? Maybe someone needs to conduct a seminar on forum etiquette at the next rally y'all attend.
  9. Unless you know a bootlegger that I don't, you can't buy this beer in Texas. We have it delivered from Ohio by a family bootlegger . http://www.chron.com/life/food/article/Yuengling-beer-in-Texas-12413366.php
  10. Awesome, Richard, can't wait to watch your progress. Truly a labor of love.
  11. Speaking of the Big Bend population, when sitting on the porch in the ghost town one afternoon the thought occurred to me, how many of these folks are in the witness protection program? It is truly a unique place where you never truly know who the person is sitting next to you buying your beers or singing the song they wrote that morning. Then there is the author that is writing his family memoirs but had to escape to Brewster County because his relatives were trying to have him killed, or so he says. The couple that left their mansion in the Houston River Oaks area to live the slower lifestyle in an adobe house off the grid. God I love that place.
  12. I have a friend in Conroe that was in the state inspection business. Was is the key word. His one employee did a state inspection and failed to do the emissions test correctly. The customer was a DPS officer that turned them in to whoever you turn them in to. A secret shopper was sent out and had the same experience. He chose to close his business rather than suffer the consequences of a lazy employee. Legally, a business cannot inspect a motorhome if their building isn't large enough for it to be driven in to.
  13. Here is the link to the one we use. http://www.bigbendresort.com/ They advertise internet but it's only available in the office area. We may try the one you're talking about next time because it is smaller. The Cottonwood General Store is a fully stocked store.
  14. I've stayed in the park and outside the park. Rio Grande Village is the only full hookups and it's an asphalt parking lot. There are three other cg's but size limitations get involved. We stay in Study Butte, pronounced Stoody, at Big Bend Resorts. It is no resort by any stretch of the imagination but it has good power, water and sewer. There are several off road opportunities you can safely do in your Cherokee. If your coming in from the northeast, in Marathon near Hwy 385 and Hwy 90, the Marathon Motel and Rv Park is a Passport American Park. Check out the Gage Hotel. While in the area, I suggest staying a night or two at the Davis Mountains State Park. This is a convenient location to visit the McDonald Observatory. Get tickets ahead of time for one of the Star Gazing Parties. More later if wanted.
  15. Maverick is the nicest rv park in the area with one problem, it's not near anything except the resort. Of course you need to stop and meet the mayor of Lajitas. A must not miss is sitting on the porch in the Terlingua ghost town indulging the locals in their tall tales...mesmerizing. Check out the local cemetery too.
  16. Hwy 385 is no problem at all. My wife drove our 44ft motorhome from the visitors center to Marathon. Let us know your planned route from the valley and we can help with rv parks.
  17. In the special session it was House Bill 3995 and Senate Bill 1588. I haven't seen any reference to House or Senate Bill 58 relating to vehicle inspections. There was a bill 58 related to forming a new court for first time drug offenders.
  18. Everything I can find talks about it passing in the house but failing in the senate. Huffines was going to try again in the special session but I cannot find anywhere if it came up in the special session. Apparently Kay has some info from some local paper that confirms the March date; I can't find it anywhere.
  19. Which local paper would that be?
  20. I thought this was supposed to start early this year. I wonder how we can find out the date.
  21. Now this is funny. Y'all have turned Marks post into a parking lot post. I thought we were asked to try and stay on topic.
  22. Good news, Joe. I didn't have my alignment checked because it appears to be tracking perfect.
  23. I have a one year rule - if I haven't used it in this time period it gets tossed to magically reappear in the basement the next year. Joe, how was your alignment from the factory's?
  24. I do pretty much as Bill does on startup but I hadn't thought about waiting until the water temp gets to 100 before increasing to high idle with the cruise control. I don't have the ability to monitor my EGT temp, only water. I let the water temp drop to 185 during the hotter weather and depending on the ambient temp and the pushng it's been doing that can take up to 3-4 minutes I suppose. My concern has always been coking the turbo at shutdown. Thanks guys for the information.
