Charles, I don't know where your weight tag might be but mine was behind the step well cover in front of the passenger seat. Our previous coach the label was on the back wall in the bedroom closet. Below are some links that might help you. One is for the 2003 Monarch SE brochure. It will give you specs for various models. The other is a 4 point weight addendum from Monaco website. http://www.monacocoach.com/StaticFiles/monaco/manualaddendums/2003/4pt_weight.pdf http://www.monacocoach.com/StaticFiles/monaco/brochures/2003/03Monarchse.pdf

We have a hardwired Surge Guard and we do fine on 20, 30 or 50 amp.

The FMCA trip routing does not require you to wait to receive your route. I personally have used it several times and received my route within 5 minutes through email. I consider the magazine to be an excellent benefit, as well as just associating with a group through one or more of the chapters. The national and area rallies are well worth the effort to attend for seminars, vendors and new coaches to tour. I have not used the Michelin tire program but have talked to others who believe that they received their tires at a substantial savings.

Try these websites: http://www.readybrake.com/state_laws.html http://towingworld.com/towinglaws.cfm This should give you all the information you require and more by state.

If you have a built-in dinette you probably have belts under the seats. My coach has 3 belts under the couch if we ever need them. They are bolted through flanges on the couch frame with the bolts that hold the couch to the floor. It is in a slide out so the bolts go all the way through the floor to the outside.

Parts may be more readily available in Alaska for the MaxxForce as we were there a year ago. For Cummins and Cat if parts were not available in small towns they got them from Fairbanks or Anchorage and, of course, there were Freightliner shops in those cities.

We were on a caravan last summer in Canada and Alaska. One couple had a new Monaco with the MaxxForce engine. They had a problem twice with blown turbocharger hoses. The problem I saw was that parts were not readily available. The second time ended their trip at about 75% complete.

Strange. I am now on version 21.0 and I just tried some misspelled words and it underlines in red.

Welcome to the FMCA forums. If I remember correctly, from the 2004 Alfa we looked at, you will find your filter behind a grille on the underside of the overhead cabinets (best seen lying on the bed). You might check with someone on the Yahoo Alfa See Ya forum. I have found it to be a very helpful group. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/alfaseeya/

Welcome to the FMCA forums. According to my information, the 2006 Mandalay was built on a Freightliner XC chassis. I would suggest calling Freightliner with your VIN at: 800-385-4357

You will find that each campground will have their own specific restrictions but we found on an extended trip last year that it paid for itself. Some limit the discount to one day and we had others that allowed unlimited days. One we stayed at in Wyoming did not give Passport America discounts from May 1 through September 30 and outside that time period it was valid for one night only. Yet another park outside San Antonio, Texas has no restrictions on Passport America stays. You might go to the Passport America website and look at individual parks in which you are interested to see what restrictions they might have.

Forest River Motorhomes & RV One Superstores
lmsooter replied to rlm030150's topic in Type A motorhomes
Welcome to the FMCA forums. Sorry to hear about your problems but your post brings up a couple of questions. 1. Did you actually go to Orlando RV and look at the coach, make the deal and then have it delivered to Buffalo RV? 2. Why did you take delivery when all systems on a new unit were not working properly? -
We were in Yellowstone mid June 2012. We stayed at the Fishing Bridge RV Park within Yellowstone. They only have a few sites that will accommodate up to 40 feet (all back in) so reservations need to be made early. We liked this location because it was convenient to the things we wanted to see. Our only regret is that we should have planned to spend at least a week instead of the 4 days we were there. We traveled from there on to Montana, Canada and Alaska. On the way back to Texas, we decided to make Mount Rushmore. We stayed in Custer State Park at Custer, SD in the Stockade North Campground. Sites have great scenery and will accommodate 40 feet. Have a great trip.

On a trip to Canada and Alaska last summer, we traveled on 287 from Cheyenne, WY through Rawlins, WY and Lander, WY to Moran Junction and on through the Yellowstone south entrance to Fishing Bridge RV Park on Yellowstone Lake. The highway was good and we had no problems. When we left, we went out the west entrance at West Yellowstone and the highway that way was also good. I think our rig is about the same length as yours and our height is 13'1". We talked to several people in the Fishing Bridge RV Park who came in the east entrance and they did not seem to have any problems - they were going back out the same way. Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!

I don't know where the guy you talked to filled up but we were in Alaska last summer and we did not pay anywhere near that for diesel - some places $3.85 others a little over $4. You will find Canada will be higher - I think we paid as much as $5.25 there for diesel. Right now diesel on Gas Buddy, Prince George, BC is a little over $5 and the Alaska average is about $4, Anchorage varies from $4.15 to $4.39.

i looked on the Tiffin website and the 34TGA is on a Ford chassis with the 6,8L V10 engine. Torque is 457. Hitch rating is 5,000 pounds. GVWR is 24,000 pounds. Looks like your Honda comes in at a little less than 4,000 pounds. I had a 2009 Four Winds Hurricane 31H with the Ford chassis and the same engine but my GVWR was 18,000 pounds. Pulling our Jeep Liberty, weighs a little more than your Honda, we varied between 9 and 11 mpg depending on the terrain and speed. The set up towed well enough that we did not know the Jeep was there if we did not see it in the camera. I also did not have any problems with the power of the engine. On a trip from Texas to Albuquerque, NM on Interstate 10 and 25 we were able to keep up with several friends with diesel pushers.

Welcome to the FMCA forums!! We were in Alberta this past summer. We made the Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska trip. A little over 10,000 miles from the time we left Texas in June until we returned in September and no problems.

Larry, Welcome to the FMCA Forums. Everyone I know (Tiffin, Fleetwood, Monaco, Winnebago, and Alfa owners) have problems while traveling in extreme cold or heat. The dash ac/heat will not heat and cool the entire rig. You can get Alfa specific information on air leak testing and sealing on the Alfa See Ya Yahoo Forum http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/alfaseeya/message/83645

Welcome to FMCA!! As Todd states, the RVSEF seminar is excellent. I attended the one presented at the FMCA Convention March 2010 in Albuquerque, NM. You might also contact a dealer in your area. They might be able to refer you to someone who could take you through the basics. As far as a brand, we all have our likes and dislikes. We had a 33 foot gasoline Class A Four Winds first. Then when we decided to start full timing, we spent two years looking at larger motorhomes. We started at the FMCA Convention in March 2010 and continued to attend every RV show and dealer location we could find within reasonable driving distance. We looked at Fleetwood, Monaco, Tiffin, Winnebago, Newmar. Shortly after we started looking, we developed a list of "must have" items - length, number of slides, etc. Along with that was a list of "would be nice to have". Just spend time really looking at a unit you are interested. Don't just look at the finish of cabinets - look at the construction. Look at interior decor - is it something you really like and can live with for a long time (changes can be expensive). Do you have sufficient basement storage - think of the things you will want to carry with you as you travel. Most Class A motorhomes are built on a top quality chassis and have Cummins or Caterpillar engines in the diesel powered units. Good luck in your search. Just take your time.

You did not say what city in upstate New York but I tried my DeLorme Street Atlas program from Watertown to Anchorage and it automatically routes north into Canada and then west across Canada. I tried the FMCA Trip Routing with just the starting and ending points and the route is completely within the lower 48 until you cross into Canada from North Dakota. I cannot speak about the highways in Saskatchewan but those in Alberta and British Columbia should not present a barrier to traveling 250 miles per day. Our rule of thumb is 300 miles or 6 hours, which ever comes first. We were in Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta and Yukon this past summer. You will have some stretches that will slow you down to 15 to 20 mph but those are not common. If you have other specific questions, feel free to send me a message.

You might check with Good Sam Publishing. I noticed that the 2012 edition was published in April 2012 so the 2013 version might not be available until April.
