  1. Don, What you say is true. I note that the Flying J in San Antonio shows a Diesel price of $3.559 while most stations in Kerrville are at $3.399.
  2. Jim, If you will look on page 37 of the December 2010 issue Of Family Motor Coaching magazine you will find the motorhome return starting just above the FMCAssist Member cards. It is a part of a program provided through Travel Guard. 3. Thanks for posting this. It is possible that my son or grandson might have some of this ammo.
  4. Chuck, Thanks for your comments on your experience. I considered the Good Sam ERS this year when my Coach-Net came due for renewal but decided to keep what I have. I have never had to use Coach-Net but everything I have heard has been good.
  5. What you say is true. I also belong to both organizations and the explanations on the benefits pages could be made a little more clear by a simple statement that these are optional programs available at additional cost. Like you I at first thought that we had a basic plan and could upgrade but found last year that was not the case.
  6. The Coach-Net program is available as an additional cost benefit just as the Good Sam ERS (Emergency Road Service) is a benefit. I believe the benefit is having a program available which has been reviewed by our association and found to be valuable to many members. Just as the Mail Forwarding Service (both with FMCA and Good Sam) is available as a benefit at additional cost, so it is with the emergency road service programs.
  7. Thanks Todd. This is really timely information as we are currently looking at upgrading to a larger unit.
  8. I have used a Brake Buddy for 2 years on my 2005 Jeep Liberty and have do not have any sign of damage to the seat.
  9. I have seen various offers from Winegard and Dish network for pay as you go but nothing from Direct TV. I checked the Direct TV website and do not find anything about a pay as you go plan.
  10. Really happy not to be in Dallas tonight. We are at 18 right now in Kerrville and looking for a low of 11 tonight. But we are not having any snow or freezing rain. I just talked to my grandson at Great Lakes, Illinois (Navy A school) and he is experiencing his first blizzard. Quite an experience for a guy raised in central Texas. Good luck to everyone in the Dallas area and be careful out there.
  11. Been there, done that on the electricity - in fact, Tuesday of last week. I had turned off the breakers at the pedestal before plugging in and then forgot to turn them back on. Went inside to set up the television - no power. Microwave - no power. Went back out and turned the breakers back on - problem solved!
  12. If you happen to be in the Texas hill country, try Rudys on IH10 at Leon Springs (just outside San Antonio) and Coopers BBQ in Llano (their pork chops are excellent).
  13. We just returned from our first Wes Tex Chapter rally and we made many new friends. We are so impressed with this group we have already registered for the next rally.
  14. Thanks for the explanation Todd. Now if I can just store the information away in my mind.....
  15. Looks like a great opportunity to introduce friends to motorhoming.
  16. Thanks for the info. I have checked out the NPSVIP site and registered. Now it is time to do a little exploring on the site.
  17. Although I am not a veteran, I would like to add my encouragement for everyone to get involved and support our troops. My son just recently retired after 21 years in the United States Navy. My daughter-in-law is a DOD xray tech at Fort Hood. And my oldest grandson just arrived at Great Lakes Recruit Training Center last Tuesday to begin his Navy career as a Hospital Corpsman. Military deployments are not easy on the families and they all deserve our support and respect.
  18. I found a couple of websites that might be of interest. One is in Alma, AR - about 30 miles from Altus. The other is in Altus. This is a campground in Altus with water and electric and a dump station. http://www.chateauauxarc.com/RV_Park.html This is a KOA campground in Alma. http://www.koa.com/where/ar/04110/ From what I am seeing, there is not a lot available in the area. Good Luck.
  19. This is the link for the Woodalls website. Give it a try and see if it can help with the confusion. http://www.woodalls.com/default.aspx
  20. Keep in mind that many RV parks offering full hookups also may have some sites with water and/or electric. Therefore, in many cases they also have a dump station. As Bill suggested, check Woodalls, Trailer Life, etc. If you find a park that seems to meet your needs, email or call to confirm details. I know the websites can be confusing sometimes. That is why I call or email to get specific details and avoid a dissappointing stay.
  21. Thanks Wayne!! My son (Senior Chief) just retired after 21 years in the Navy and he would agree with this article. So would my great niece - Marines 6 years and counting.
  22. Bill, You are correct. This is a new website. They have thousands of campgrounds listed and are working to get the information validated. I ran on to this site accidently shortly after the Albuquerque convention. When you enter a review of a campground, you not only give your feelings and impressions but also may upload pictures you feel might be of use to others. I entered reviews of all the campgrounds we stayed at on the trip to and from Albuquerque. Check the site out. I like the format and the pictures. Leary
  23. I have a Four Winds Hurricane 31H which has tank heaters. On my central control panel I have a rocker switch to turn each tank heater on and off. We used them last winter in some weather just below freezing for several days and had no problems. We also were in Albuquerque in March for the FMCA convention and had freezing weather on the way there plus snow while there and had no problems.
  24. If you like being on a lake or fishing, Table Rock State park is great. We spent about 10 days there. They have full hookups available. Table Rock State Park 417-334-4704 http://www.mostateparks.com/tablerock.htm We have also found Branson Stagecoach RV Park to be an excellent base for the lake and attending shows in Branson. They also offer a free show shuttle. http://www.bransonstagecoachrv.com/ Hope this gives you a starting point.
