What version of Firefox are you running? I am using 18.0 I did a Help look up and it appears that Firefox had some intermittent spell check problems with version 15 & 16.

I use the Firefox browser and it checks my spelling as I type. Misspelled words will be underlined in red. It can be turned off or on under Options - Advanced.

Installing Motorized Windshield & Side Window Shades
lmsooter replied to garytenorsinger's topic in Modifications
I just recently replaced my windshield shades with MCD because the original drivers side shade had stopped working due to broken parts in the drive section and the passenger side was making a noise I did not like. My installation was fairly simple because the wiring and control switches were already in place - all I had to do was connect the wires. The operation of the new shades is very quiet and smooth. We are very pleased with the MCD product. We chose the Solo shade because we already have exterior sunscreens. If you will contact Charlie Cox (972-548-1850 ccox@mcdinnovations.com )at MCD he will talk with you about your specific application - he is their technical support person and was very helpful to me in ordering the proper size shade. The will also send fabric samples to you so you can choose colors and get an idea of the material. -
We followed that route this past summer from Custer, SD. There is not much scenery but the road was good (mostly 2 lane) except for the short stretch across Oklahoma. Of course 385 runs along with 287 from Lamar, CO and we stayed with 287 on into Amarillo after the two divided again in Boise City, OK. Since we were going on to Lubbock, we should have stayed with 385 to avoid the trip through Amarillo. We were in our 40' Alfa towing our Jeep Liberty 4 down and had a comfortable trip.

We traveled a little over 7,000 miles this past summer in Canada and Alaska with no damage to our coach - we got a chip in the windshield after we crossed back into Montana on an Interstate highway. Just slow down and take your time - in May you will have areas of frost heaves on the highways. There will also be sections on road that is gravel - when you meet another vehicle, slow down and get as close to the shoulder as safely possible. We had worse roads between Great Falls and Billings, Montana. I would definitely take the toad. Camping World and other RV suppliers have protection for your toad. On our trip we spent 5 days at Rivers Edge RV Resort. I would give them a call to discuss reservations - it may not be necessary at the time of year you will arrive but it is very popular with caravan operators. It is a nice park and close to shopping.

We went to Alaska and Canada this past summer with a caravan. You will find many advantages and disadvantages to caravan travel. We liked the security in traveling with a group, having campgrounds, tours and shows arranged in advance for us and the many friends we made within the group. And I am sure the caravan company gets some group discounts. But you are also locked into the tours, shows and travel schedule as presented. You could skip tours and shows but you still have paid for them upfront. If we were going to try the Fall Colors tour, I probably would find an itinerary we liked and make individual arrangements for the tours and shows we think we would want to see.

We had a couple with us on a caravan to Canada and Alaska this past summer had a new Monaco Vesta with the MaxxForce 7 engine. They had some problems with the turbo which needed repair. Parts had to be shipped from the engine manufacturer to Alaska as they were not available locally (within Alaska). The second time they had the same problem (loss of power - 5 mph maximum going up a mountain) it ended their trip. I have not heard from them since but they were really upset and talking about giving up RVing. You might want to search using Google for any recalls or reported problems with the engine.

Welcome to the FMCA forums. You did not say if the speakers just quit working or never worked so I will make a few comments which may or may not be relevant. I am not sure about the 2004 but my 2006 has a volume control for the front speakers about left knee level when in the drivers seat. There is also a volume control knob in the storage bay where the outside speakers are located. Also check out this forum: http://autos.groups....roup/alfaseeya/ It is Alfa specific and someone there may have some suggestions.

Destination: Yellowstone Park

Herman, When we were at Fishing Bridge this past summer we were in our 40 foot Alfa. They have a few sites that will handle 40 feet but nothing larger. -
Destination: Yellowstone Park
lmsooter replied to SPMAJohnson's question in Destinations/Attractions
We stayed at Fishing Bridge campground inside Yellowstone this past summer on the way to Canada and Alaska. We were there 4 days and really wish we had planned more time there. Four days was really not enough to enjoy all Yellowstone, and the nearby Grand Tetons, has to offer. After returning to the lower 48 we decided to visit Mount Rushmore on the way home to Texas. We stayed at Stockade Lake North campground in Custer State Park just outside Custer, SD. It is a very scenic area. -
Most Wal Marts, as well as other businesses, routinely have signs in their parking lots stating that they are not responsible for theft, vandalism or damages. We have had our Jeep hit by loose carts before and it is irritating. Maybe it is time businesses in the US starts doing what we saw in Canada this year. You have to deposit a quarter to get a shopping cart and when you return it to the proper location, you get your quarter back. We did not see loose carts in the parking lots!!!

Congratulations on the retirement and fulltiming. We sold our home late November and hit the road. We will spend our winters in the Texas hill country north of Austin and travel the rest of the year. We will probably spend next summer in Colorado so I can indulge my greatest weakness - flyfishing. We left Texas in May this year and returned in early September after 10,000 miles. Canada and Alaska are great. We really enjoyed our time in Fairbanks. Enjoy your travels.

Welcome to the FMCA forums. We just returned from a 3 month trip to Canada and Alaska. You don't say specifically where you are located or where you intend to cross the border into Canada but from the highways you mention, I am assuming you will go north on IH 15 from Great Falls, Montana. I can tell you that the trip from Great Falls, Montana to Calgary is a very simple and relaxed trip. It is primarily rolling plains and no cliff hangers. Nice roads all the way - mostly divided 4 lane. Relax and have a great, enjoyable trip. I don't know about now but in late August, Montana 3 between Great Falls and Billings, MT was under heavy construction and rough. If I were going to go to Great Falls through Billings, I would take US 87 to Lewiston and continue to follow 87 west to Great Falls.

Considering Purchasing A 2002 ALFA See YA 36' Diesel Pusher
lmsooter replied to rmg21's topic in Buying an RV
Richard, I would want to take it to a competent RV technician and have it evaluated - maybe the Alfa repair facility you mentioned. We have an Alfa and love it. Just returned today to the lower 48 from a 2 month trip to Canada and Alaska - a little over 8,000 miles since we left Texas on May 25th - and it performed well. Also try this forum: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/alfaseeya/ This is an Alfa specific forum and you will find many owners there to answer questions and try to help you. -
Welcome to the FMCA forum! We started fulltiming November 2011 and are really enjoying ourselves. We are currently in Valdez, AK on a trip we have planned for a long time. Enjoy your travels.

Montie, Did you recently change your email or something else in your profile? I see there are two Montie entries in the Member listing. That recently happened Wayne77590. Send a message to Todd Moning (tmoning) and he should be able to help you.

Montie, We left Great Falls, Montana on June 21st (having spent 3 weeks coming up from our home in central Texas) on a trip through Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska. I have been told by my brother that the way to see Alaska is by water. If that is any more spectacular than what we have seen, then I want to do that too. The roads overall have been good although not up to the standards in the lower 48. The only really bad road was the Top Of The World Highway from Dawson City, YT to Chicken, AK - I would not do that one again. The main thing, if you take a motor home to Alaska, is to slow down and enjoy the scenery. These roads are not designed for high speeds.

We will be at the Custer State Park Stockade North Campground August 23 through 25. We have not stayed there before but have been told it is a nice area. I made our reservations last night and it appeared they had 2 more sites available for larger motorhomes. Of course it is electric only.

Wayne, I just looked in the member list and you are listed twice as Wayne77590 - once with 909 posts and once with 4 posts!! And the mysteries continue to pop up. Good luck - hope they can get it corrected.

I am not familiar with Blue Ox equipment but I installed Roadmaster baseplates on my 2005 Jeep Liberty. It is not particularly difficult - just read and follow the instructions and take your time with the install. I note that the Roadmaster website lists baseplates for the 2001 Pontiac Sunfire but specifies "Not GT".

Take a look at this link: http://www.fmca.com/members/membership-directory.html When I chose Prevost and do not specify any other criteria (state, etc) it indicates there are 1336 members with a Prevost.
