  1. Your welcome Joe. I traveled in my job for close to 45 years. I knew most every diner, drive-in and yes dives in the Southwest. As we travel int MH I will remember a place and recommend it to a friend. Have learned to preface it with "The last time I was there it was great". These times are a changing. Your kids will love to revisit those memories. Herman
  2. Joe, My DW started a Journal when we purchased our first coach. As we have an adventure, stay at a park ect. she writes it down. When she has a chance she will type it into the computer. We have refereed to it many time, which is happening more and more, when trying to remember a place, date or even where we ate. Our children have read it many times. It is nice, and many time sad, when we refer back to wonderful Rallies, great places and yes even deaths of friends and family members. If you haven't started a record I recommend you start one. Then when in the rocking chair in the care facility someone can read it to you so you may revisit the Good Ole Days. Herman
  3. rp, Just had the same problem with my #4008-101-E65 Surflo pump. It just suddenly quit. It turned out to be the micro switch. I found that out when I tried to remove the wires to check voltage. As i wiggled the wire the pump started and would stop when I stopped. Found switch at a local electronic shop. It was like $4.85 tax included. Pumps up a storm now and shuts off when the pressure is reached. Now I have another problem with the pump. It seems that the reverse flow check valve in the pump is allowing water to flow back into the tank when hooked up the the camp ground water. I have changed them out before, but found out that it is not changeable on this pump. You either have to replace the pump head or the entire pump. That ain't gonna happen. I found at both Home Depot and Lowe's a 1/2" reverse flow inline check valve for less than $5.00. Picking it up today. FYI, while in Tyler, Texas this weekend I went to Camping World to see if I could get the check valve. When I told the sweet young lady in parts what I needed she went straight to water heater section and handed me a pressure relief valve. When I explained to her what it was she apologized and got the parts mgr. He understood what I needed and proceeded to tell me that when a customer had my problem they always replace the pump. I asked, in a very nice way, so no test just R& R? He said, sorry but yes. Herman
  4. Jimmy, I would check connections. You may have a loose wire. Also a call to Thedford would be next on my list. Herman
  5. Craig, Welcome to the Forum. If a hose let go you should be able to hear it when the engine is running. If the sound came from around the steering column it may be in or around the brake pedal. This is where I would begin. Good luck. Herman
  6. Chris, A donut is a pastry that may be either baked or fried. Sometimes glazed or chocolate covered and best served warm. But for an RV it is rubber ring that has tapered sided. You may plug your discharged hose into it and use it on a variety of sized sewer connection. Lots of parks ask that you use one so there will not be sewer gas odors that will offend your neighbor. Herman
  7. Blake, Our 32 footer was a Windsor and our 40 footer is a Dynasty with a tag and 10 airbags. Both were and are on true Roadmaster chassis. Shortly after Navastar purchased Monaco they sold off Roadmaster. Then about the same time Freightliner got Roadmaster and redesigned the chassis. I think that is where the drastic changes came in. For a true feel for the difference between the two see if you can find a pre 2008 Dynasty with a tag. You will be pleasantly surprised. Herman
  8. FYI, Tom and Louise are published authors. This is apparent many time in the articulate way they write. (by the way Tom, Joe Hipp told me to say Hi thr next time we saw you, so HI) Herman
  9. Carl, As we discussed, I went from a 32 foot no tag coach to a 40 footer with a tag. On that, I can say that betwwen the two there was a world of difference. With the tag I saw much less sway and disturbane from passing trucks and the ride was much smoother. I assume that just moving up in length on coaches with tag axles would not show that much change. I did see a difference in handling when moving up 8 feet in length. Though I think it was the length and not the tag that made the difference. Herman PS: Carl made someone's puppy realy happy last night.
  10. Kurt, Have you tried to start it at the gen. itself? Try that and if you can hear a clicking noise then you may have a low battery. However if all your 12 volt items work and you can start your engine then it may be a loose or bad ground. Or then you may have a bad starter. Herman
  11. pj, Your 2003 4x4 is very towable. The nice thing is that it has no steering wheel locking pin. My 08 Silverado is set up this way. Tow Bar is Blue Ox with removable pins. I installed them myself. I installed diodes in the lights myself. I have the M&G braking unit. I had it installed on another vehicle and installed the one on my truck myself. What is nice is all I have to do is hook up, put the truck in 4x4 neutral, put transmission in park. Remove the key and lock the doors. And away we go. Herman
  12. Jb, Welcome to the Forum. Yes the disconnect will stand up to pulling a trailer. I don't know your location but look here for help. Drive Shaft King Dallas, Texas 214-941-7122 Ask David if he might know of a company in your area. They did a great job on my truck. Herman
  13. Duck Tails = 50's Remember Fonzie, "hea!" Mullet =70's, Elvis, "Thank you, thank you very much" Herman
  14. What comes to mind. Brown bear = Brown stream. No s $^€₩!!!! Herman
  15. Chief, I am of the ole school. I balance all tires on the coach, steer, drive and tag. Same on my truck and I even balance the tires on my 14 foot utility trailer. I just feel better doing it, just me. Herman
  16. Joe, I have seen where companies have put heat shields to disperse the heat. But not sure about wraps. Chevrolet comes to mind when the exhaust pipe was too close to the starter. This reduced the life of the starter considerably. Herman
  17. Kay, Back then that was considered real progress. However by today's standards they were just plain ugly. But then again I can remember when Duck Tails were considered the cats meow. Today they would be called a really bad hair day. Did I just write that? Really, really telling my age now. Herman
  18. Joe, Wouldn't wrapping your manifolds hold in the heat and cause more warping and cracking?? Herman
  19. Champion Motor Homes were built in Van Alstyne Texas in the mid 70's. It was the typical square box build. To my knowledge it was one of the first coaches to use 2x2 square tubing. They layed out the exterior panels, layed the welded wall studs in place then sprayed foam insulation on the inside of the wall. The studs had two sides tape to hold the panels to them before foaming. Turned it over and routed out for the openings. When all was done the side panels were only held in place with tape, foam and a few screws. We've come a long way. Herman
  20. What tells me it's wall paper are the trim strips that cover the seams. Herman
  21. Sounds to me like a nice long winter project to work on in a heated garage. (a really good heated garage) Herman
  22. Lyle, Possibly could you post pictures. If so we might be better equipped to help. Space under, over and around the tank might determine a solution. Herman
  23. If I think there is a problem and I have the parts I would go ahead and fix it right then. I for one, don't like surprises when on the road. Herman By the way Carl, How is that new review mirror working out?
  24. Wall paper that looks like OSB? Now that is a new one on me. The next time I have the opportunity to tour a MH plant, I want to see when they install the ceiling panels. If i understand it the ceiling panels are finished, installed and then the cabinets go in. However in the pictures it looks as if the panels covering stops just past the cabinet. (see exposed fabric edge). rv2Dan, there are several things I would do. First would be a call to the manufacture of you coach.(listing the make, model & year helps with inquiries) See if they might have a solution. Then I would find a possible web site on your make and model to see if others may have had the same problem. I would also determine if it was caused by moisture penetration or faulty manufacturing. Good luck, Herman
  25. Borcki, I also have Dish. We sometime have to do the unplug thing, but not every time. Get yourself a short extension cord that can be out where you can unplug and plug in the receiver without having to move it each time. When we have been out and have changed to the local channels where we were, I will call Dish as we travel on the way home. I will ask them to restore my home channels to our home address. By the time we get back to the house and settle down, all is reset and back to normal. Herman
