dbik86i, I have traveled Hwy 69 in Oklahoma for the last 40+ years. We were on it in the MH the first week in September. I can assure you that it has not gotten any better. Of all the Hwys in OK it has to be the worst. All long the way you will see the trucks driving in the left lane because it it a little bit smoother, but not much. On our last time through there I told the wife that I would drive to OK City and take I-35 before I would take the MH on that road again, and we live in McKinney, TX. Hwy 69 is the true meaning of "Shake Rattle and Roll".

Gary, If you don't have a packet of manuals for your coach you need to contact the Dealer where you purchased your coach. If you bought it from an individual you need to check with them. Have you contacted the coach mfg.? They should know how or who to send you to.

Kellyfrank Is the TV original to your coach? If so it is not Digital. They didn't make digital TVs in 2000. Have you tried to hook it up to cable TV or a satellite receiver and dish? If so did you then get a picture? Do you have a digital TV that you can take out to the coach and see if it picks up any stations? Lot of questions but sorry no answers yet. I look forward to your solution. My B-in-law has your same problem. I told him to take it to a shop. Good Luck.

Excessive Brake Dust Accumulations, 2011 HR / Monaco
hermanmullins replied to dfw1ema's topic in Chassis
Welcome to the Forum. Being a new coach your brakes may be experiencing a break in cycle and the dust may soon go away. However it wouldn't hurt to take your coach to a truck shop (preferably a Navistar dealer) that can inspect your brakes. If they do find a problem they may be able to correct the problem under warranty. Good luck -
Tom said, "I've got to have large windows for light and ventilation." Tom, your correct about the windows and ventilation, I've been spending too much time looking in the mirrors, that make my coach soo much larger inside. Even the dark wood that I love, looks brighter in the sun light. I see by your changing locations that you and Lou are racking up lots of frequent driving points. Can't wait to see where you'll will be next.

Gerald Scott, Welcome to the Forum. I will take the different route to the inside colors of Motor homes. I agree that the lighter colors do make the inside seem more spacious. My wife and I had boats before we moved to MHs. I for one like the darker wood tones. They remind us of the beautiful bright work in a nice cruiser. That is why I liked the model name called the "Land Yacht", I think it was a Air Stream. I guess that is why there are Black car and white cars, Fords and Chevrolets. Good luck and Happy RVing.

Mike, Welcome to the Forum. In your service bay there is a water manifold with shut offs for all the water lines both hot and cold. They are all marked as what it serves. Check and see if your shower valve in the service bay might be turned off. Also you may have something in the cold water side of your shower valve. You should have access to your valve from inside the shower. There is a hex set screw holding the handle on and 2 phillips screws holding the cover on. When those are removed you should have access to the valve body. If you can open the valve you should find what is blocking your water. If you find the water valve is shut off have someone inside the coach to check for leaks when you turn on the value to look for leaks because there might be a reason why the valve was closed. Hope these are helpful.

Poor Repair Service on Onan Generator
hermanmullins replied to beamer704's topic in General Discussion
Paul, The best advertising is Quality Work and Good Service. The worst advertising is Poor Quality and Bad Service. You have started by just speaking out on the forum. Family Motor Coaching has had a forum in the magazine for help with matters like your, but I haven't seen it lately. However MotorHome Magazine has a Collum call HOT LINE. They will try to resolve problems such as yours. At the same time it give the company that gave bad service the worst advertising possible. If you can get your hands on a copy of MotorHome look on the page "Contact MotorHome" and look at "Resolve a Conflict". You will find all you need. Hope this is of some help. Have a great time in AZ. -
Ed & Vickie, Welcome to FMCA and the Forum. On this web site you can find FMCA Chapters in your area. Check them out. See when and where they have Rallies scheduled. If one is where you can go, go and meet some really great people. You will make new friends and learn a great deal about any RV topic you want. So again, Welcome to FMCA, now go, meet, and enjoy.

Bill & Brett, You are both right on the mark about designers. Before any man, woman or child can be a designer of cars, boats or RVs they should have to spend 1 year (a full 12 months) in an internship doing the mechanical work. An example from our past, who ever told the designers of the 57 Chevrolet that the air conditioner box should cover the complete right side of the engine where to changing the spark plugs required removing the fender well. I know you can think of a lot more. Gosh venting feels good. Have a good day.

Steve, how is the window you need to replace held in? If it is a match to your old window it should go back in in reverse order of the unit you removed. Be sure to have sealant handy when putting it back in.

You didn't say how old your son is. This would help, narrow it down. It could be any where from a turtle to a cheerleader. How about no pet and just take him to shelters where you travel and let him help out for a little while. Pets to pet and no food to carry or worrying about the heat or cold when the pet must be left in the coach.

Moisheh, I have put close to 40,000 miles on my G670s and not one bit of trouble. They have worn smooth and flat across the tread. I have out more then 150,000 miles plus on Goodyear tire and have had very good results. That being said I have been through Firestone 500 and I think it was the 727. My last Firestone 500 (company car) were replace several times. I had 12 different tires put on and replaced. I'm sorry but there is no way I, myself, would ever install Firestones on any car. My wife, while I was out of town, had firestones put on her Caddy. With less the 10,000 miles the front driver side tire desinigrated and tore the fender off the car. Firestone said send the tire into them and they would evaluate it. Guess what IT WAS MY FAULT. Michelins are good tire and so are Gooyear G670s. Nuff said and just my thoughts.

John, as Brett said, Welcome to the Forum. We had a 32' Monaco Windsor DP. I had the SteerSafe unit installed on it. I didn't see much difference. I, on my own, added longer eye bolts to the springs so I could get more tension. It did improve the steering. However when we went through Deming, NM we went to the factory for a tune up. "Oh my goodness, you can't do that" was their response. They replaced all four springs and eye bolts, at no charge. I did not see any difference from what I had done but it was still better then the original springs and bolts. My opinion is that for the money spent(aprox. $400.00 6 years ago), I would try a better steering dampener aka shock absorber. Try that first before, it may not help but it can't hurt and is less expensive. Also you might take your coach to a truck alignment shop and tell them your problem. There are things they can do that might help, it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck,

Joe, Welcome to the Forum. If I understand, a 1979 Revcon Motor Home is a General Motors 455 ci motor with a transaxle for front wheel drive. If I am right there is no transfer case. You have a transaxle. Oldsmobile was the first GM Front Wheel Drive car followed by the El Dorado. You might want to look up the transaxle to see how much fluid it takes. I do not know if the unit also has a defferential behind the transmission or not. That may be what you are refering to as the transfer case. Good luck and again Welcome to the Forum.

bcairport, Welcome to the Forum. Several year ago I replaced my ONAN Generator (4KW). I got it from Colorado Standby. They were very helpful and had the best pricing at that time. You may contact they as follows: Colorado Standby 4758 N. Chestnut St. Colorado Springs, CO 80907 866-888-6111 Ask for Brad. Have all your information with you Model Number and KW's. Also check your size of your unit. (is it a 4KW ONAN?) Brad will tell you how much air space you need to have for your generator to work long and well. Hope this is helpful.

Tom, As the saying goes "you are never too old to learn." And that is what I love about RVing. You get to learn something new each and every time you go out.

Joe, as Brett may have already said, Welcome to the Forum. The GM 454 (7.4) is a great engine. The basic engine is a real workhorse. The following is just my opinion. I feel that any coach up to 34' is just about the max for a gas engine. 37' might be a little too much for the 454. That being said, if you drive it right it should do the job for you. You might want to take I-80 across Nebraska and Wyoming. There aren't as many mountains that way and it is a nice trip. You might also consider I-40 through Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. Lots of flat areas along the way, plus who doesn't want 100 plus weather this time of the year. Have fun and enjoy your trip.

Bill we will be going through Colorado Springs next week. Please list the name of the truck stop if you can. I would like to have our tires balanced there. Thanks,

When having my coach serviced, the dealer said they didn't know what filter my coach took. I found the number in my owners manual. Went back to the parts department with the number. He could not cross referance it so he called NAPA with my number. They gave him the number and he told me that it would take about 10 days, but NAPA had 3 in stock. I told him I would go to NAPA and he said " lets keep them honest" and said his price would be $109.00 I went to the NAPA store, they said yes they had the filter for $189.00. I said thanks but I would go back to the dealer. He asked what they had quoted. I told him and he said lets see what he could do. He came back with, $89.00. I said OK and when he brought it out it had several years of dust on the box. So, the reason I told the story, take your number to your local NAPA store and have them cross referance it and I bet they will have your filter.

Roadtrek 200 Storage Compartment Replacement Hinge
hermanmullins replied to birdman4skip's topic in Type B Motorhomes
Skip & Wendy, Welcome to the Forum. Did you get any manuals along with the coach? If so you might find the maker of your doors. Call Roadtrek and see if they have the vendor or a source. Check on line for RV salvage and or RV surplus. They are a good source for parts. Good luck and again Welcome to the Forum.
