  1. The fridge uses so little energy that there's really no reason at all to cycle the inverter or worry about how long the fridge can keep things cool. Just leave the inverter on and everything will stay cold even if you open it up to grab a cold one while headed down the road.....Cold Coke, of course!
  2. Not sure why you are quoting me. I did not address any post you made.
  3. In case you are not familiar with the hills of TN, they really are just hills. You will need to gear down a bit to get up and down but Interstate highways are limited in their grade so you won't come up on anything bigger than a 5-6% grade. It's an easy drive. If you have any concerns just fall in behind the 18 wheelers and let the 4 wheels have the other lane.
  4. For me, the inverter is simply left on 24/7 when in the RV (never in storage). It seems nearly impossible that the Aqua-Hot circuit would be connected to the inverter so you might want to check to see if that is correct. If so, please turn the Aqua-Hot off while on inverter. Not everything in the coach works on inverter so you can test/check the various appliances and plugs to see what does and what does not work while you are unplugged. When you plug into shore power the inverter simply becomes a battery charger and when that's complete does not do much of anything other than monitor your battery bank and in the case of a power failure at the campground will keep things running until power is restored.
  5. I would suggest you head to St. Louis and then KC, KS, N on 29 to Sioux Falls and then 90W through the Black Hills so plan at least a couple of stops. 90 all the way to Livingston and then S on 89 into the park. This is the least steep option unless you want to come in from the South through Jackson, WY which is also a good route but involves much more off the Interstate driving and added time but the roads are good and saves many miles. That route would be to stay on 80W all the way to Rock Springs, WY and head N on 191. There are actually a couple of options for roads going N. including 287 but Rock Springs keeps you on Interstate longer.
  6. Just N of Houston, TX is http://www.sats2go.com/ Dave is very good and very experienced. Not sure he will come that far but you should give him a call. Tell him Bill sent ya! Won't save you any money, I just like to say hi!
  7. Last time we were there the oil boom was in full swing and it was hard to find anywhere to park. Take a look at RV parky (the app or .com) as well as RVParkReviews.com and you should get a good idea of where to stay. Many have become permanent homes for the worker with some tents, sheds, pop ups and some really, really old trailers.
  8. There is a check mark in the upper right hand and lower right hand section of each page. Just click the "mark this site read" and you are done.
  9. I did have a pin pulled on my tow bar while at a truck stop so be sure that you ALWAYS inspect your RV, tow setup and tow anytime you leave it unattended and before driving. We have had a couple of minor thefts and one theft averted by a neighbor while at a beach front RV park in Hungtington Beach. Guy was walking off the beach and headed for the chairs we left out (my mistake). The neighbor walked over, picked up the chairs and walked back to their site. The guy just walked away. That's what RVing is most about so don't fret the small stuff but don't be stupid either!

    Replacing Tire

If you need to replace a tire on an axle with dual wheels then you need to replace both. You could take the 2 drive tires and move them to that position and install new drive tires as well. You just want both tires to have the same tread depth so putting 1 new tire on a set of dual will give you 2 tires with 2 different diameters and is not recommended.
  11. Or even the very first month after you are fully vetted into the new plan. I wish you the best because I would love to have such a plan!
  12. It is still tracked and it is still limited. Those are not my words, those are the exact words used by Verizon. It's the speed that is limited and not the total data but once you exceed certain limits your speeds may be reduced. Maybe that effects you and maybe it doesn't but it is the reality of the Verizon plan.
  13. If you can get a 211K instead of the Z, it has a coax output. For the best picture you could try to locate the receiver near your main TV and run a new HDMI cable to that TV for full HD. You could then use the coax output (or the adapter above with the 211z) to run a standard def. pic to the 2nd TV using the current cabling.
  14. "I suspect". Now there's a testimonial! Sorry but until we get some reasonable data about this new plan the reality is that Verizon themselves say that a phone used as a hotspot (not a MiFi device) will be throttled after 10gb of usage. Maybe you end up at 3G speeds forever and maybe those speeds are good enough to do what you do. But to say that Verizon no longer tracks your usage is simply incorrect.
  15. My advice......good time to throw it out and get a residential fridge!
  16. There are many limitations including no video slowdown "on your phone". Can't cast it, can't use it in tether or hotspot and no stated speed or resolution promises. Time will tell. I am looking forward to hearing from those who have had this service for a few months.
  17. I hope you don't think that what you are seeing means that Verizon is not tracking your data. It ABSOLUTELY is tracked and your "unlimited" high speed (4G) data IS LIMITED to 22GB for data you use on your phone and limited to 10G if you use your phone to tether or as a hotspot. They don't even say that you will be reduced to a specific speed but rather other traffic will be prioritized over yours so your speeds could be slow as molasses. That still counts as unlimited data, it's just no terribly useful data.
  18. The U plan is the plan I describe above. It is NOT unlimited 4G data. After 22GB or 10GB while tethering or using a hot spot the device is taken off the 4G connection but data will continue to be flow at whatever speed that might be. There is no guarantee that it would even maintain 3G service. The cost is $45/line IF you buy 4 lines with unlimited voice and messaging. For existing users you pay the $20/line/phone plus the data plan $110/month for the "unlimited" plan. I lose my current 15% discount on my existing plan so if you consider that you are getting 22GB for each phone to use (not 44GB that 2 phones can share) and you are limited to 10GB for a hotspot for $110/month a good deal then go for it. I will stick with my truly unlimited Sprint hotspot for $45/month.
  19. That "unlimited" Verizon plan limits you to 10GB per line when used as a hotspot and 22GB for total usage of high speed data so it's not even close to unlimited.
  20. Wow, what a difference in fixtures. I wish RV manufacturers would put before hardware in from the start. Looks like you made the right choice to replace the fixture.
  21. Want to make the retired life even better? Get a towed you can pull 4 wheels down! The tow dolly crap gets old very fast!
  22. Just stay away from the 2014 and newer GC. They have an issue with the steering that causes a Death Wobble unless a special kit is installed and installed properly. Costs about $400 if you can find someone who knows what they are doing to do it for you.
  23. Maybe it's a full timers thing, but I can't imagine not using my on-board water supply or the water from the campground water supply for my drinking and cooking needs. If you have an ice maker that water is going to be coming from that source anyway. I added a separate refrigerator / ice maker filter for even better ice and water but everything else comes in from clean city water connections. The water has a small amount of chlorine and keeps my tanks clean and the water tasty year-round.
  24. I keep spare pins and I check the hitch every time I am away from the coach for any period of time. Stop at a truck stop? Check the pins before I leave! I also had a pin removed at a truck stop once but was lucky enough (smart) to check everything including tires and belts and towed before hitting the road. Pulled out the spare pin and we were on the road as if nothing ever happened.
