Michigan Upper Peninsula-- Diesel Availability
BillAdams replied to rhsjwjr's question in Destinations/Attractions
Fill up while in the not out of the way places. You should have about a 1000 mile range between fill ups. -
I believe that you are right that something is wrong. I have spent some part of the last 2 Winters in Detroit, MI and I have bays heated by my Webasto (Aqua-hot) and it worked OK. When it dropped into the 25 below range I added 2 light bulbs in that compartment only to keep from burning ALL of my fuel! Had I not done that it would have still been OK but I would have added a few dollars to my fuel bill.

The slide leaks when it's out and when it is retracted? That's really bad if I have that right. Most slides leak a bit but they certainly should not have anything approaching "excessive" while opened or closed (especially when closed).

The Beaver coaches were all good as I have seen. If that coach has the floor plan you like and is in good shape with reasonable miles (not necessarily low miles) and good maintenance records I would not have any concerns.

All the "biggies" want the coach for 6-8 weeks and about $15,000. Neither of those requirements work for me.

No new paint. Got screwed by the painter after an 800 mile drive to get to his shop. Oh well.

Being as this is a 29 year old RV I think I would qualify if I could get "This Old House" to take on my upgrade project! Gotta love what Rich can do!

The shower is just a shower head. The water is controlled by the original on/off valve allowing an easy retro-fit. You can see the water control valve to the left of the new fixture and above that the original water output connection which we the new (silver) tubing to send the water from the old corner location to the new updated shower head location. There is no access of any kind to the old water control valve so I cannot replace it. It anything goes bad and needs replacement a wall is going to have to be removed and repaired.

replatt, yes, I think it would. Even with this new shower I can turn on the bathroom sink without an changes to the water flow. Just don't flush the toilet or the shower turns to scalding water! Manholt, you are also right. I think 165 gallons of fresh water is enough! Thanks.

Yes, dramatically so. I always know when 1 pump as failed as it becomes instantly obvious.

Our Holiday Travel Misadventure-- So Far

Maybe I should have been more clear. No way in "heck" I would do 1000 miles a day (at any age). At this age it's simply not necessary under any circumstance I can imagine. I travel for a living and my boss would never, and I mean never, ask me to drive 500 miles much less 1000 miles in 1 day. Good luck to you but I think you may be bordering on nuts! -
Home Depot "on line". It is not available at the store. Shipped to me directly. The company is Valore and this is model VS-1205. The installation took more time in planning than the physical installation. It is simple and straight forward if you are even a little bit handy with tools. I had to buy a tile drill of the correct size but otherwise I had everything necessary on hand. My coach as 2 - 3 GPM water pumps. I have been thinking about upgrading to 2 - 4 GPM pumps but if the plumbing won't push more fluid I am not sure it would actually be of any benefit. Of course, that's never stopped me from trying new things, it just leaves you either happier or poorer. I like playing with stuff so failing has never been an issue. It's all a learning experience. My plumbing will handle higher pressure as well so if I could get higher volume plus some added pressure that would be awesome (or not). Can't know until you try it!
-
The water pressure is "different" as this is more of a water fall or rain type setup vs. the pressure shower head. Janet says it cleans her hair faster/better than the shower head we replaced so that's enough for me. Will I ever use the body spray? I did today, just for fun, but likely will not use it very often. No matter, the over head and the hand held sprayers are awesome.

Why is anyone excited to volunteer for a for-profit company? I just don't get it. If I volunteer my hours the corporation will make a lot of money. This is not a charity, it's just a business. Maybe you could volunteer at Chick-Fil-A. I am sure they would appreciate it just as much.

550 miles in one day? Oh **** no! God bless you if that's your plan. You very well might need his blessing to make that kind of a trip unless you used to be an OTR trucker. -
I absolutely bow to your knowledge and my lack of clarity of information. I am just saying that I got stuck, I got help from the manufacturer that got me out of the parking lot and into the RV space. In reading about your post, I may have moved the the cable from one side to the other as you describe. My memory is bad and your information is so on point! Thanks.

As an owner of 12R 22.5 tires I can tell you that they are NOT readily available. When I needed new tires they had to be ordered and it took well over a month for the dealer to finally get them in stock. Truckers use 11R 22.5 but these are not good for you. The metric tires are much more readily available as a general rule.

Just turning the key to the on position (no far enough to cause the starter to turn) should cause a noticeable "click" which is the Ignition solenoid coming to life. If this is not happening the solenoid may be defective but, at least in my coach, it can be jumped to allow voltage to pass so the coach can be started. This will get you out of a bind like it did me when mine died at the check-in driveway at Coos Bay Casino RV park.

Best Place To List Motorhome For Sale

Ernie is going to join us Prevost owners! He's just itching to find the right bus! -
I just could not resist getting Janet a new shower setup. I saw it and I just had to have it (parody the insurance commercial). Janet's happy so I guess I did good!

A good set of deep cycle AGM batteries. You don't say the size but just get a matching size. Lifeline are the best and most expensive but I have had great success with the Universal Battery brand (Chinese) for about 5 years now. Check Sam's or Costco, they may have a brand there as well.

Intermittent Generator Fail When Engine Running
BillAdams replied to kstaf4d@att.net's topic in Electrical
Even in the Summer I don't need a generator while driving. Glad to hear you will find a place where you can do some trouble-shooting. Let us know what you find or if you end up with additional questions. -
One dealer that I have used and trusted for many years when it came to my braking system as dropped M&G and now uses Air Force One exclusively (unless requested otherwise). The installation appears to be easier and it can be done on many more vehicles than M&G. I did get an M&G installed on my current Jeep but I would not have any qualms about installing the Air Force One after discussions with my installer.

Is there a topic in here somewhere or have we all gone "nuts"!?
