For me, it was moving the **** out of Florida! Those little ******** were everywhere and there wasn't a **** thing you could do other than stay indoors to avoid them. Hate that State! A couple of times per year you forget how bad the mosquitoes were when you had to deal with those fricking Love Bugs!

Are you expecting any of the mountains to have gotten taller or shorter?

If your coach does not have diesel heat (Webasto, AquaHot) built in you would not want to try to make a conversion (it that's even possible). However, once you have had the comfy cozy warmth generated by a good baseboard heating system such as these there is not any chance in heck that you would ever go back.

I check my tire pressure from time to time (not every day) and that works very well for me. I travel in and out of various temperature ranges frequently. I do "thump" my tires every day and I usually "thump" my tires any time I stop along the way. Do I do it every time? No, but I try to! I like the idea of TPMS but in the last 17 years can't remember a single time where they would have told me anything of any value in advance of a problem. If I was going to add any accessory to my tires it would be a cross-fire system on the dual just to keep the temp/pressure difference on the inside/outside tires the same. I am not convinced that even this is of any proven value but I think I might be able to mentally justified this expense.

My paint job is 22 years old and it's likely because I used good quality waxes on a regular basis. UV protection is important to me (me and me alone) and likely has something to do with my paint job having survived this long. 2 coats of clear is considered a standard (poor by Prevost standards) on most RV's. I suspect that my clear coat failed because the folks that did the repaint in 1994 only did 2 clear coats. If you want a good quality paint job there will be at least 3 clear coats and on many Prevost's 4-6 coats. It just depends upon your willingness to pay $30,000 for the paint job.

I don't see anything about any kind of UV protection with that product so I (me and me alone!) would make another choice. YMMV!

Just get some wax, put it on an wipe it off. Done!

I am not sure that the make and model is important when the only point he was making was that slowing down improved fuel mileage. I think everyone already agrees on that. Since my employer wants me there sooner than later and is paying for the fuel I use along the way, speed is more important to me than MPG. If I ever retire I will likely slow down (a bit) in hopes of getting the old girl up to 6 MPG!

Looking a lot like you are parked at Cheyenne Mountain State Park but there are many RV parks around with similar sites. Cheyenne Mountain just happens to be one of my favorites!

No max. towing speed limits on my Jeep!

Looks like a Bounder to me. Great coach if I am correct.

Having tires rated to 75 and driving 75 does not sound like a big risk to me. YMMV.

I have only been driving this bus like I do for 17 years. Not likely going to stop now!

A Step By Step Pictorial Of Our New Flooring
BillAdams replied to blakeloke's topic in Modifications
Wow! Great work. We just had Ernie replace our carpet with new carpet and we are in TN today with lows in the 20's. Glad we did not go with wood as standing on our tile floors will give you severe brain freeze (of the feet)! The whole coach stays warmer with carpet but most folks don't travel to the cold like we do. If we were "normal" RVers we would have pulled it all out and had Ernie do wood throughout as well. Be sure to post the "after" pictures. -
I put Centramatics on my '88 Prevost a few months back and only recently had a chance to see how they did on a drive. I got new tires which the dealer did not balance and they installed the Centramatics. I only installed them on the drive but I can see them on all 3 axles in the future. Even at 75 MPH the ride is smooth whereas in the past anything above 70 (with balanced tires) we had a noticeable vibration. Good purchase, good results and money well spent.

I recommend this guy (John Carrillo) http://heatmyrv.com/services/ He is mobile and at many of the RV shows. Give him a call and see if he can help.

Good link listed above. The video appeared! How did I do that?

I assume you are a DirecTV customer. It's possible that model will no longer work with Dish Network.

Diesel Motorhome MPG-- Honest Answers Please
BillAdams replied to luckydog1949's topic in Type A motorhomes
We just did a 377 trip from Jacksonville, FL to Stone Mountain, GA. That's longer than I like but being able to spend an extra night at Stone Mountain vs. Wal-Mart was a great incentive! That only left us 277 to get from Stone Mountain to Nashville. We put the bus in the shop Monday morning to get a new full body paint job so we will be in a hotel for about 3 weeks. Sorry, wandered off topic. If anyone wants to know more you can PM me or we can start a new topic. -
Winterizing Ice Maker In Residential Frig
BillAdams replied to bugden's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
I love winterizing with air pressure but as Brett mentions above, you need to find and drain the line to the ice maker at its source to ensure there is no water left in this line. I did not and I paid the price (I full time and you should have seen the ice water fall that was created!) but I never will again. Don't leave any possibility of a problem as it absolutely will become a problem. -
Diesel Motorhome MPG-- Honest Answers Please
BillAdams replied to luckydog1949's topic in Type A motorhomes
No worries. I travel at the speed limit unless the speed limit is above 75. Between FL and TN the speed limit was 70. I set the cruise so that I stayed between 68 and 72 MPH (usually closer to 72) and had a great drive at about 5.5 MPG. 300-400 miles per day is my normal day since I travel on business. Getting there is more important to me than smelling the flowers along the way. -
That is so funny! When we were leaving Canada headed back to the US we ran into a similar situation. We were not a bus and we were not a truck so we headed for the car lane. The US customs folks threw a hissy fit and were pointing toward the bus lane. We were too far gone and could not back up while towing so we just had to move in the direction we were headed. It was pretty obvious that we had simply pissed them off and they were going to do whatever possible to delay our crossing. After a bunch of "harumph's" they let us go through as if they were doing us some kind of a favor. We drove into Canada a couple of days earlier to see the falls and "our Country" welcomed us back as if we were an inconvenience. Thanks Uncle Sam!

Not all RV's carry and use propane! If that RV did not, there are/were no issues. Many RV's these days are all electric so they can go where other RV's cannot. I know that I drove the Parkway (or Turnpike) somewhere in NJ with my RV when I lived in VA but I can't remember which. I remember it well as I broke an A/C belt along the way and was wondering what I would have done if it was a more serious problem. Others in the area should be able to clarify what you can and cannot do. What I do know is that you ARE NOT a truck and truck regulations do not apply to you. Height requirements do and you should pay very close attention to these!

You might want to delete your address and phone number from this post as soon as possible. If a moderator jumps in, hopefully they will do it for you.

My coach does not charge the starting batteries when parked, only the house batteries. When your coach is parked and plugged in do your starting batteries read 13+V showing that they are being charged just like your house batteries should be reading?
