Yes. Prevost has a service center in Jacksonville, FL. I used a bunch of duct tape to keep the windshield in place and drove about 60 MPH up I95 from Titusvillle. They had me fixed up the next day. We got to see the Blue Angels perform at the Sea and Air Show and then came to Stone Mountain after the weekend crowd left. A night by the fire was a really nice change.

Here's another vote for Stone Mountain. I am sitting at the base right now in a great campground. The Christmas activities will be going on by the time you get here so it should be beautiful and lots of fun. If you have not visited the Air and Space Museum in Dayton, OH I consider this a must see. It takes 2 days so give yourself the time. A detour to Louisville would give you time to stop at some of the best Bourbon Distilleries for sampling and factory tours and then drop into Nashville and try to catch the Grand 'Ole Opry. I know, I thought that was stupid also until I did it. Now I am heading back that way next week and want to do it again!! That lets you head to Atlanta for Stone Mountain and then you have to choose a direction. If you are ready to get to Tampa just follow 75 and you are there. If you aren't done exploring you could head to the coast and visit Savannah, GA, St. Augustine, Daytona Speedway (take a spin around the track at 160 MPH) and Daytona Beach for a drive on the beach. It's onto Orlando for a visit with Mickie and you are almost home!

It is highly likely that the batteries are shot as well. Running a wet cell battery dry can kill it quickly and there is no recovery option. I would take the batteries out and have them load tested by a reputable company. Don't be surprised if they tell you they need to be replaced. If it were me (and it's not!) and the batteries needed replacement I would get a maintenance free battery with AGM being my ultimate choice.

The hole in the roof option is the most common and should not give you any reason for concern. I have done hundreds that way and with the proper cover plate and a dose of Dicor caulk and it will be just as leak proof as every other hole in your roof (and you have lots!). If you don't mind paying the extra labor there are other option including running cabling through a/c duct lines or the foam insulation in the roof but it can be quite difficult and time consuming with no added benefit other than less exposed coax on the roof. If you are current a DirecTV customer there is an additional option. The Trav'ler uses a SWM setup so a splitter could be installed inside the RV with the existing coax and a new coax run from that location to where you want a 2nd TV. That also means there is a possibility that a coax already exists from the from to the rear that could be re-purposed. With all of that said, both DirecTV and Dish Network have a Genie or Joey and both have wireless clients. Use the existing wiring and install the Genie or Hopper and install the wireless clients where ever you like. No new cables!

Yes! The folks on the Tiffin Forum! If you have not joined yet you should do so right away. They don't play well with the Dish receivers but if you are getting new equipment from Dish you should make sure that it is all setup for use with RF instead of IR and you won't have any issues with IR repeaters. http://tiffinrvnetwork.com/forum/

That is a thing made by Winegard and is called Digital Magic. You first push the button to get the display to light up and then you crank up the manual satellite TV antenna on your roof. Once the antenna is at the correct elevation you can rotate the antenna until you locate the satellite. Of course, you would first need to be a satellite TV customer and have the receiver installed and connected correctly. The antenna you have will receive all of the DirecTV programming but not in HD (SD only) or it can be used with Dish Network but you will only be able to watch programming from 1 of the 3 satellites at a time and it's a bit of a pain to re-point the antenna between 2 or 3 satellites.

While you are showing a mess, it's not of much help with your setup. If you are certain you had a Trav'ler designed for Dish then the answer is yes, it will work with a Hopper/Super Joey setup. It will require some additional wiring and the necessary splitters that you would find in a home setup but it will work. Once the Trav'ler is up and pointed it is the exact same antenna you have at home. Where there is an issue is with the Hopper 3 which requires a different LNB. Rumor has it that it can be adapted to the Trav'ler, there is not much information about that currently available. You mention 8 tuners and that's not what the original Hopper/Super Joey can do. That combo only brings you up to 5. Maybe you are actually talking about the Hopper 3.

Looks like a Splendide knock-off to me. The dimensions are within an inch of a Splendide but you need 2 of them to do the same job the Splendide does all by itself. YMMV.

I wish I had seen Herman's post about the clear tape before I used a whole roll of the silver stuff! In any case, we made it safely to Jacksonville today. Here's a bit of information I posted elsewhere. I took a whole roll of duct tape but we made it from Titusville to Jacksonville today. Kind of scary watching the window "breathe" in and out as we drove at 60 MPH. It was only about 2 hours but Janet sat on the couch behind the drivers seat. She wanted no part of it! We are now at Prevost and they have the windshield and will take care of that and a couple of other bus issues while we are here. Should be good as new here pretty soon. We originally planned to stay at The Great Outdoors but it turns out they wanted $65/night plus tax for an overnight stop. Wish we had paid that ransom as the hit happened just past the exit and we would have saved $700!

By the way Herman, our insurance company put us in touch with RV Glass Solutions. They say it will take a week to get a new windshield and someone here to replace it. We are going to try to drive to Jacksonville where there is a Prevost service center. If they want too much money we can wait there for free until someone can get us a replacement.

It was a Turkey Vulture. Big Dang Bird! I saw it coming but as with most birds headed toward your windshield you "assume" it will pull away. This guy did not! We drove back that way to get some lunch and saw it in the grass on the side of Interstate on our return trip. I really wanted to stop and take a picture of that dead SOB but stopping along any Interstate is really not the best choice. Now it's just a matter of getting back on the road with a windshield that is likely going to get blown into the RV if we move and the reality that it might take more than a week to get someone to come to us to get it replaced. What to do.....What to do.

We have had a bird strike. Looks like we are going to be in the Hudson! We are safe and sitting in Titusville, FL until we can get some help.

The surge suppressor would not look at inverter voltage, only voltage coming from the park power pole. The OP has no issues with shore power.

I guess you are much more sophisticated than me. Hand it over to a commercial laundry and pick it up later? I sure wish I was in your tax bracket! I have only done that once in my life (pre-RV or not). That was when we went to help out in NOLA after Katrina. There were almost no laundry's left but we happened upon one where there was a waiting line 4 deep for every machine. However, the owner, with a side arm strapped to his side, said they also did wash and fold. SOLD! Can't remember how much it cost but I try not to think of those things when it was really the only reasonable option at the time.

I highly doubt that the inverter is actually putting out voltage at the rate you are reading. Please keep us informed about what you find.

I have full timed with a Splendie since 1999. I believe my wife and I have been in a laundromat maybe 5 or 6 times in those 17 years. RV parks have very nice laundry facilities if we have bulky things we need to wash and the machines are just steps from our front door. The stacked W/D setup in RV's is a bit better as you can dry while you wash saving some time ('cause we are so short on time!) and you can do a slightly larger load. They don't wash any better (front loaders wash better than top loaders) but they do dry faster (again saving that time we are so short on). A household dryer uses 240V unless you want to convert a gas dryer to propane and watch that tank empty itself in a huge hurry!

While there is really no reason to avoid Albuquerque or Flagstaff unless weather is an issue, you certainly can take 44 W out of St. Louis all the way to 277 S at Wichita Falls, TX (mosstly 4 lane divided highway to Abilene, TX and then 20W to 10W to Mesa. 1670 miles vs. 1559 taking 44 to 40 to Albuquerque and South on 25 to 10. Only about 1450 going through Flagstaff.

Yep. In the meantime be sure to call Dish and have them suspend service on the receiver to save money until you are ready to install it in the new coach.
-
It is yours and the new owner would likely not want it anyway. You can hook it up at home if you have Dish service or simply terminate the service on that box.

I used a Roadmaster tow bar until it broke and changed to the Blue Ox. I like the operation of the Blue Ox better and have never had an issues with it.

I used spray foam. Just tape up the vents from the outside and foam it from the inside. I left the roof vent open but if I wanted to seal that I would likely use something similar to what abyrd did.

The Freedom 458 is a modified sine wave inverter and your meter is reading incorrectly.

Sounds like a happy camper to me! Thanks for sharing.

Spokane to Phoenix in January
BillAdams replied to jimburnett's question in Destinations/Attractions
Since snow is not going to be on the pavement on I-5 all day every day during January, as long as you have some flexibility in your travel schedule I would just take I-5 on a pleasant sunny day. You should have a great drive with a beautiful view. Enjoy.
