  1. Quite a traumatic event when you loose a fur baby. I'm sure many have gone through it. It happened very fast as can be read about if you search on Hemangiosarcoma. It was a little more that overnight for Miya. The hospital veterinarian said that if they found the tumor and operated that she would have 1 to 3 months more. Not a good choice to put her, or us, through. Anyone who met Miya raved over her. She was with us 24/7 since she was 8 weeks old and passed at 12-1/2. In Memory: She always had a smile - that's we called it.
  2. Five, sounds good. Next time I need a battery I'm going to ask for one with more AH's. Brett, Yep on all of that. I'm going to purchase on that already has all the wiring. Any suggestions?
  3. Wore long legged jeans today, should have put on my jean shorts. Very comfortable 70˚ today. Here is our daily forecast.
  4. THREE: First was in Oregon and we traveled to Guaranty RV Service Center, Junction City, OR for a major slide repair. The long slide pulled the pedestal off the floor. Guaranty fixed it and did a super job. We were able to stay in their lot with Electric hook up and a shared water faucet for filling fresh water tank. Second was Master Tech RV in Elkhart, IN. We called and were a drive in for early morning and they replaced a slide motor, plus fixed a leak where the AC seal was not making contact with the roof. Had them also replace all the AC seals. Great people, great job. Third is Houston Freightliner. It is an Oasis service shop and every year for the past 12 years I have taken our MH their for its annual physical. The repair folks there go over it with a fine comb and if anything needs fixing they call and get the authorization. I just tell them "Fix it."
  5. I would rather have it on. However, when in hilly country I have to stop every couple hours and run the TOAD engine to keep the battery charged up. Learned the hard way on both a 2007 Saturn and now the 2013 Lincoln. If you don't stop and run, battery will go below starting capacity. Yep, going to install a charge line one of these days. I need to stop and stretch the legs anyhow.
  6. Ken, we were at Racoon Valley in September. Unfortunately not a good memory as we lost our Husky, Miya, on Sept 18th to Hemangiosarcoma. When were you there? Done the Tail of the Dragon on MC. A 28 ft MH is about all it would be able to handle and then going around some of the hairpin turns one could see their own license plate.
  7. I've been on Hwy 30 also - nope - no rv. Also been on Needles Highway. Those that took an RV up that highway probably saw the video of the tour buss going through that tunnel. Tour Bus 1 Tour Bus 2 Inside the bus 1 Inside the bus 2 Malox or similar required on trip
  8. My wife said she was not going to fix oyster dressing this year. She says that every year. I start crying like a baby and she gives in. Nothing like a fried turkey to eat. We had the typical to much to eat fan fare. (with oyster dressing and of course giblet gravy.)
  9. Had they had the small portable Traeger when I bought my grill for the RV i would have gotten that one. I presently have the Webber Q1200 for the RV. So far the Traeger is working well. There are some things you just don't want to smoke. My first use of the Traeger I used the Traeger recipe for steak. Smoke time, cook time, sear time. Earlene did not like it and was ready to give up the grill. Don't use smoke time for a steak is all I can say.
  10. I have a Traeger. Mesquite is my preferred pellet supply.
  11. If you want to avoid Houston, take Hwy-105 out of Beaumont and then pick up US-290. Many CG's along the way. Use Campgroundreviews.com for a list of campgrounds along your way and in and around Austin.
  12. Seefood diet here. Hey Joe (not the song), what brand smoker did you get?
  13. Ditto on using AH. Mine will switch automatically but I prefer the quiet of the AH and seems to heat a lot better. Previous MH had propane and HP and it also switched automatically.
  14. Happy Thanksgiving y'all. I blow my calorie intake at every meal, why should today be different. I'm not out of shape. Round is a shape.
  15. Everyone have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
  16. Some More Big Boy 20 minutes long. (Troup, TX to Marshal, TX) Chasing Big Boy
  17. I have a Walmart app and I use the Walmart Pay. Open the app, open the Walmart Pay, scan the card reader - walk out the door after bagging. I'll have to try the find part of it. Also have Sam's app. Scan and Go is great. As you pick up items you activate your camera, it put it all as a list and when finished shopping click on check out, or pay now, and proceed to the exit. No need to stand in line getting items scanned. Works great. Wish Costco had it.
  18. In 2014 we had hail hit our 2008 mh while staying in Hot Springs AR. There were 21 rigs in our rally group and all had damage. I have Progressive insurance. They paid the $19,000 roof replacement. As stated, your insurance should cover it and i personally don't think patching should be an option. You are 150 miles from Elkhart, IN, and there is an RV repair place their named Master Tech RV. If you don't mind the travel, give them a call. They do great work.
  19. Jetstream is centrally located to most of the attractions in Houston, Galveston and surrounding area. I'm going to have to take a run up there and look it over. The daily rate is <>$65 and that is high but in keeping with many of the more "luxurious" parks in the area. Depends on what you want. We enjoy a nice comfortable park but it is dependent on how long we are gong to stay. A few days to a week just about any park will do. The longer we plan on staying the nicer we like the park. There are many other parks in the area that are cheaper and comfortable. For just a week or two, look at Gordy Road RV Park at $435 a month +Electric. Anyone on a budget could afford that. (About $14 a day + Electric). Green Caye RV Park would be another budget stop at $495 monthly and includes Electric. Sites are close together but then you get to know your neighbor. Many others in the area.
  20. They save money by batch processing. That is, they wait until a set time or # of receipts, then process everything.
  21. I can't imaging making $157 million over a 5 year period to be a quarterback (Seahawks). No wonder it costs so much to go to a football game. I personally see no reason to support them if they cannot support what has been our traditions for over 200 years.
