Time is of the most essence when I buy a new vehicle, I usually drive more than 60,000 miles per year in my personal car because I am also working out of it. If the car comes with a 60,000 mile warranty, and I buy a 100,000 mile extended warranty, I feel like that I have purchased a 40,000 mile warranty in reality. And in the case of a motorhome, most of us do not drive more than 10 to 15 K per year, and the time limit would have expired long before mileage.

This is not the correct place this response on the forum, but what I mean by positioning with your mirrors is this. To focus a mirror correctly, left mirror should be positioned so that the left rear of your vehicle should be visible enough that no more than 15% of the mirror shows the rear end of your vehicle, the same is true for the right side. Now while driving when glancing at the mirror, as one should do on a regular basis, make a mental note that the right rear of your vehicle is the same distance from the either line or edge of the road as it is to the line on your left side. Once anyone gets used to this method, they will automatically correct the steering so that this happens. Just something that I learned 60 years ago, that was the first time that I drove a truck, has worked well for me ever since. And focusing further down the road is a good trait, that also contributes to defensive driving.

I've met many women that drive their MH's and enjoy doing so. Though my name is Kay, I'm not female. I wish that I could persuade my wife to drive, but doing so is futile. Best tip for driving without getting too tired is to break up the trip, either stop every couple of hours for a break or something to sip on, or if both drive, then alternate drivers on regular intervals. The most concern that I have with most female drivers is that most, not all, have never learned to use the mirrors correctly for keeping their position on the road, some male drivers are guilty of this also, so I'm not picking on women, just stating my observations. Here's hoping that you and hubby have many years of pleasurable RVing.

Suggestions on best hose from holding tanks
kaypsmith replied to ktconners's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
I do have one of those tubes in the wet bay, that's where I store two new sewer hoses in the event I ever need to replace one, or have a need for more than the 20 feet that I keep looped together. -
Suggestions on best hose from holding tanks
kaypsmith replied to ktconners's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
I attach the two ends together of all hoses, including the water hose, to avoid any liquid spills inside my bays. -
Let's see, one could tow behind a car, a truck, a tractor, a train, and on and on and on. I believe that the OP is letting us know that is a MH, not anything else that he/she is planning to tow their toad with. Have a great day!

I don't think that there is a really good device for doing what your are asking to do. The old outdated VCR is still the best answer, but then again, if you don't already own one, and the tapes are getting more scarce every day if you could find one and afford them. The DVD's just have never performed to my liking. But here is a website that may be worth looking into, hope that you get an answer to your liking. https://www.techhive.com/article/3173175/streaming-hardware/best-dvr-for-cord-cutters.html If I used a rooftop satellite dish, I would personally invest in an inexpensive portable dish for those times that you are unable to park in a suitable site for reception, just my opinion, and if you do opt for such a device, you will still need a RG-6 cord for hooking up to that, or the park cable if they have it. Most poor park reception is due to a poorly made RG-59 cable, or bad end couplers on an RG-6.

I used to own a 91 model crosscountry RT by sportscoach, almost sure that coachman bought out sportsman, the converter was under the dash of that unit, just to the right of the steering wheel. Probably not where yours is but another place to look. Were it my unit, I would buy a 75 amp three stage converter and add it to the unit, just a standard 3 prong plug in to 120 volts and placed near the house battery bank. It does not have to replace the present converter, can be in addition to the existing one. It sounds as though the original converter has developed a problem, and will not go into bulk mode. This is the reason that I was wondering earlier if you had unplugged completely from shore power and ran the tests. I have ordered the Powermax brand off of ebay and have good luck with this brand, they are much less expensive than buying from an RV dealer, and probably will solve the problem that you are describing. I am still pondering some of your test, have you looked for a fuse or circuit breaker immediately after the house batteries, it will be a 12 volt very heavy fuse or circuit breaker, if this has blown or thrown if a breaker, you will be seeing the same results, as the batteries are not supplying the necessary 12 volts and current that is needed, the system is only relying on the converter for power and is not large enough to keep up with demand of your system. It doesn't take more than an accidental arc or possibly putting in a battery backwards to blow these fuses. There was an incident about 6 months ago on this forum that turned out to be the case.

Your statement reminds me of the story of the Poll pulling his chain into the barroom every night. When asked why he pulled that thing behind him, he replied, I'd look silly trying to push it.

I have very good luck with w.w. Williams, closest shop I found to okc is New Boston Tx., I use them for 2 stroke parts, and their shops seems to work on almost anything with Detroit and Allison trannys. The Birmingham Al., has a 2 stroke mechanic that is great. Hope you find someone that can help.

Better WiFi reception in RV
kaypsmith replied to tireman9's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
Thanks Punxsyjumper, a very good link. -
Daneast1, check to see if this occurs if shore power is completely disconnected, also if the coach motor is running and shore power disconnected.

Better WiFi reception in RV
kaypsmith replied to tireman9's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
Tireman9, The coax to the antenna should work fine. I think that it is 75 ohm impedance for the router antenna. -
On the great lakes, you could rent barges, tie them all together, no land involved. Probably would be a first. I have thought long and hard about taking the Copper Canyon excursion, I think that would be neat, sun bath in front of your coach while watching all those majestic sights go by.

Better WiFi reception in RV
kaypsmith replied to tireman9's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
If you are going to use free WiFi, be sure that you turn off network sharing, use good approved passwords, and do not visit any site that requires that you pass any personal data. I have even used my personal hotspot in the manner that I mentioned above, just don't tell others, sometimes you cant get a site where your hotspot will work well, for that reason, there are work arounds. -
Better WiFi reception in RV
kaypsmith replied to tireman9's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
I did the external antenna, one that is widely published to be one of the best, I installed on an extendable flag pole, booster and all, it did not improve the signal strength enough to justify the cost. I now carry a couple of wifi extenders, and talk to other campers about placing them between the best signal found in the park and where I am parked, about me placing the extenders outside their RV, 90% of them will give their approval because it helps them also. Anyway, that's how I do it and has worked very well for me. Of course, I'm sure that there are some disappointed campers after I leave, because I always retrieve them to take with me. Oh one thing that I did not add earlier, those 5 gallon buckets with a light inside hanging upside down, is where I place the extenders inside the bucket. Throw a rope over a tree limb and hoist it up, takes 5 minutes to put up and two to take back down, this protects the extender from any rainfall that might occur, and improves strength because of the extra height. -
in search of flat towable truck
kaypsmith replied to pepsidog's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Do you mean that Carl needs to put brain in gear before opening mouth, or keyboard? I was beginning to believe that I was the only one that caught that statement. -
Do you have access to an amp clamp device? If so, check the amperage draw of the furnace motors. Short of a loose wire or too small gauge wire between 12 volt source and the motors is only cause that would commonly cause the lights to flicker. 12 volts connected with reverse polarity will only cause the motor to run backward on dc current. Also what type lights is your coach using, florescent, led, halogen, or incandescent/resistive wire. If florescent, there may be an arching effect in the motors that may cause them to flicker, in that case, the brushes may be worn and not seating well on the commentator within the motors, or simply showing a need for the bearings on the fan to be oiled, or replaced. Just a few more things to check.

Poor Linda, Carl, I still don't believe she weighs 1000#! Shame on you! -
I can just imagine, a Philly cheese steak with pulled pork as the main ingredient, baby swiss cheese, mmm mmm, only a Georgian would know the difference.

Great responses, although I hope that he found them before the responses started. August 29 2016 started.

alfa wiring 2002 Alfa, See Ya, wiring, electronic systems
kaypsmith replied to MissAdventurer's topic in Type A motorhomes
Dave, thanks for the information, I used to think that my next coach would be an Alfa, most of them always had a graceful look about them. But of course with them going out of the business, I got the bus fever, and now glad that I did. Mine is an 88 year model coach and still service and parts available, also doing the entire conversion I know every nook and cranny in case of a system failure, including the very complex AC and DC wiring systems.- 25 replies

2018 Cherokee Trail hawk Flat tow
kaypsmith replied to mamajoandmike's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Yes it will be fine to not unhook, but you must remember to honk your horn when passing through Birmingham, or I will consider you to be unfriendly. Have fun in Gulf Shores. and be sure to venture over to Pensacola Florida, just a few miles, and visit the Blue Angels, you may be lucky and get to watch a practice run, if there is no shows scheduled while you are there. -
Verizon Unlimited & Windows 10 Updates
kaypsmith replied to ispjs's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
If one doesn't have a professional or ultimate version of Windows 10, or8, or7,orXP, or longhorn, there is no group policy. I would bet that 87% of the users on this forum do not even know that there is a professional available. But for those of us that do use professional, yes we can rely on the group policy. But how many of us on the road have a need for being part of a domain? All versions do let you change settings to metered internet service, but this can be changed without an update, so one would need this to be checked in a timely fashion.
