  1. That's my favorite also. My house is on Pier and Beam, 2,636 Sq. ft., above my 1,100 sq. ft. garage! I bought the place a year after it was built. The piers are 12"x12", 9 foot center and 12" x 4" steel I-beams! Yep, that explains why 10 amp receps.
  2. I wonder what weird electrician wired this Carl? Never have seen this configuration in a house, I bet it was hard finding 16 gauge romex wire, and I am wondering what color the receptacles are to indicate that they are rated at 10 amps.
  3. The easement question, I am still waiting for an answer to. Public utilities, yes to all three, but am awaiting a cost estimate for impact fees, I'm told the sewer portion could be astronomical.
  4. These are excellent points Herman, thanks for your input.
  5. We did not stay in the premier area. The Park has been called Raccoon Mountain ever since I started going there in 2007. Last year when we arrived, we learned that it has been acquired by new owners since our last stay. The park has been very nice for the entire time that we have been using it, but the new owners seem to have taken an interest in updating it, and the new section was under construction last July. They have also added a huge fenced in play area for dogs, that is gated and you are asked that turns be taken in allowing your dog/dogs occupy the area so others may make good use of the area as well, we thought this to be a good idea, as we have four Yorkies who play well together, but will not tolerate unknown canine in the same play area, they wont fight, but will come to their masters for protection. We were very good friends with the previous owners and sad not to have found them there any longer, but the new owners seem to be terrific also. Many of the old worker staff were still there, making us feel very comfortable. Also there is an old mine on the premises, with tours of that if anyone is interested in a cave tour. One other note, all the sites are drive through, and turns are very easy with any rig, some are shorter, but the staff assigns your site with careful consideration to your coach length. I always tow a vehicle and can leave the toad attached, which we usually remove the toad, because there is so much to see and do while in the area. Walmart, and other great shopping is within 3 miles and lots of good eating choices as well.
  6. I thought about this also, but to make them pull throughs, will require two roads, minimum of 12 feet each, that's 24 from 65, only leaves 41. I guess that they can be installed at a 45% angle, that would mean a maximum length of about a 38 footer, only problem with that is it still won't be room for a toad. Class B's don't need a toad.
  7. I am also needing to find out if The B class will need 50 amp service, or is 30 amp sufficient for them?
  8. Only campground near Ruby Falls at Chattanooga Tn., is Raccoon Mountain, very nice CG, is located at the Ruby Falls exit on I-24. http://www.raccoonmountain.com/ We stay there twice a year on the way to Gatlinburg, Sue likes to break the drive, 200 miles from home and 120 from there to Gatlinburg.
  9. I'll have to wait till after church tomorrow Joe, it's pretty dark down there right now, I only use the live link for Google earth, those obsolete maps are always too far out of date. But you will get the link tomorrow. I always look forward to hearing your thoughts.
  10. Absolutely no tenters, they are usually obnoxious and with the loud music with no soundproofing. I know that my spaces will be rather small, but surely a class B will be able to back in without too much problem. Also the class B owners seem to be more elite, and with a small footprint. My only concern is that I'm planning about 20 sites, with about a $250,000.00 outlay for water, sewer, a paved road all the way back to the water front lot. If there are not enough class B's to keep the park full al least 60% of the time, I will be going in the hole. Oh yes, I will need to install a privacy fence all the way from road frontage to the water, I will need someone that is an airbrush artist to paint a very long mural on the neighbors fence backside and my own as well.
  11. Thanks for your reply Carl, the property is located on St. George Island Florida. There is a kayak business right next to the property, but our lot is so narrow that I con not think of any other business that will work on it. It is not enough room for me to hardly back my big ol bus back to the water, and I will need to put a road or roads in to be able to access each site. I need guidance on how to best access the space, and not knowing much about class B and how their owners are able to back up those rigs and place them on the small sites, I'm afraid that the tiny towables will still need much more room to be able to put them in place. There is a state park on the island that I love to go, but I have told too many others about and now I can no longer book there because the booking is done online and the system will not allow more than one year advance to book. I believe that bots have been developed to book just as soon the day that I want is available. I have tried for the last year to book this May, but was not available. There is usually one or two class B's there so I know there will be a few that might be available to use my park if I do develop one. About zoning though, the state park has tried to increase their camping spaces for the last eight years but the city fathers have voted any expansions down so far. The park is about 16 miles long and from 300 ft wide to 700 ft in some places, so there is plenty enough room for them to expand, but the city fathers have said no. Maybe I will have better luck, LOL.
  12. Please don't think that I'm crazy, but I have just inherited a nice piece of land on the Gulf Coast. My wife has wanted for us to build an RV park for about 15 years now, but we really could not afford to do that because of the price of land at any place that we feel would be attractive to draw fellow RV'rs into. Here are some specifics on the land, it is 65 feet wide and 460 feet from the coast to the paved road where you enter the land. This is the reason that I feel that a class B or maybe a C- will be the only coaches that will fit. Please don't be sarcastic, as this is an honest possible business venture that we may be able to finally retire to. Any good ideas on this subject will be appreciated, because Sue doesn't have a clue where to begin, so I volunteered to float this balloon. I will be taking pictures of the piece of land when we go there in May.
  13. A Nissan Cube is an itsey bitsey teenie weenie SUV wanna be, they have the right name, cause they really look like a cube. People who own them love them, sorta like class B lovers. LOL
  14. That is a clip from the movie RV, one of Robin Williams best movies, if you haven't seen it, you really should, the show is absolutely hilarious. Sue and I watch it almost everytime we get bored when out camping, and it's pouring rain outside.
  15. If I felt like a castaway anywhere, I wouldn't be there! If my motorhome made me feel like a castaway, I would get rid of it.
  16. When I place my tag on the car dolly, I use electricians friend, heavy duty wire ties, I attach the tag on the left side of the tongue close to the front of the dolly. No one can see the tag if it is mounted at the rear of the dolly with a car on it anyway, and if I am not towing a car, I'm not pulling the tow dolly anyway. But in the event that I shall ever need to tow without a vehicle on it, the wire ties are easily cut and new ones put back on should I ever need to move to the rear of the dolly.
  17. Mine was built October 1988, ran for greyhound 12 years, then Vermont carriers 9 years. I started conversion in 2009, finished February 2013, currently has 2,442,509 miles on it. Have service records all the way back to date it was placed in service in early 1989, no odometer on the dash, rather a hubometer on right drive axel.
  18. "All this talk about cleaning and polishing wheels has got me all excited. Don't know if I can wait another month for spring to arrive" Amen!, and now that I have found a source for Blue Magic, I'm even more excited, of course here in Bama country, 65 to 80% days already, makes me want to sing hallelujah!
  19. Here is a link to their web page. http://bucknersfamilyrestaurant.com/#directions The picture shows just how they serve it, the center of the round table is a lazy susan. Sorry Rich for not answering your question, will be on the west side going south or north, but on the right side going south. LOL! Exit 201, Bucksnort rd., what a name for a road.
  20. A friend of mine bought a complete set of Snap On tools through his employer, an aircraft rebuilder, he paid the employer through payroll deduction nearly two thousand dollars for that set of tools. After he retired, he no longer needed this large set of tools and sold me the complete set for a couple hundred dollars. On of the ratchets was in need of repair, I found a Snap On truck and asked the driver to replace or repair the tool. He took it from my hand, looked it over, then he told me that I could not have it back, because he was required to confiscate it, there was a G in the number of the tool. His claim was that it was a government issued tool and it was against the law for me to have it in my possession. The aircraft company was not owned or run by the government, and I know for a fact that the tools were not stolen by my friend, but none the less I lost the ratchet. All the tools in the set had a G in the number marking, so I can not have those tools repaired or replaced. I personally like the Kobalt brand better than Craftsman tools in these times.
  21. Watch it! I used to use Blue Magic on the stainless steel on my coach and loved it. I bought it at Petro truck stop, but they quit carrying it when TA bought them out. I'm glad to see that Advance carries it now. I use the green rubbing compound now, I use a mortar and petal to pulverize, then add just enough kerosene to become a paste, this works very well, but do not use this mixture on a coated surface.
  22. Joe, shame yours is a diesel coach, wouldn't cost to go back home. LOL
  23. If ever in Pigeon Forge Tn., If you haven't already, make it a point to visit the Old Mill, not handy for parking your MH there unless of course you happen to be driving a class B , the usual wait is an hour to two, but well worth it, if you want some good home style vittles. I think that this is what keeps us going back to PF twice a year. Oh yes another is Buckners on I-75 about 20 miles south of Atlanta, don't remember the exit #, but the Flying J is on the right of the Interstate at this exit, just turn and go past the Flying J about 100 yards, on the right between the road that you are on and the interstate. They have an amish spread to be remembered. Almost forgot, they have a parking lot that will accommodate an RV, you might not be able to get back into the coach after a meal there.
  24. Most likely that is all that is wrong with the inverter also.
  25. As I stated it my first reply, a battery isolation circuit would be my primary desire to charge the gen battery, I used to use a diode based isolater, but now use an electronic one such as this one, https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Battery-Isolator-Voltage-Sensitive/dp/B00400IYTK The diode based ones drops voltage traveling to the isolated battery by about .6 volts, which still works well but with newer technology, the electronic ones does not incur any loss. Very simple to install, just disconnect the battery wires from the existing solenoid use these wires to feed the new to your situation battery, connect new wires from new battery to the genny solenoid. Your new battery will be charged through this device, and there will be no drain back to the house battery bank, assuring that your generator will always have a fresh charge. Many people will not see a need but the assurance that the generator is always ready when called on with no monkey business can be a wonderful peace of mind. Good luck which way you choose to use.
