China, I don't want to help support them! There is nothing wrong with their OTR tires, they depend on moving goods also! Viet Nam? No thanks!

Very windy conditions. Leave stabilizers down?
manholt replied to jbarringer's topic in General Discussion
"Straight line wind is constant. Micro burst of 80, would put any of us on another site or our side! Also depends on where the SL wind is getting you, front, back or broad side! 80+ mph is a CAT one Hurricane, almost CAT 2.....Not buying into that math, after spending 27 years on Galveston Isl, TX. -

A long time ago, you had to list the Make, model, year and length....same when you got another coach! Not perfect, but better than what we have had in the past 30 years! IMHO. For the past 6 years, my DW had her own F# under her previous name and she was also on this Forum! We got married last May & this year, saw no reason to pay 2x for membership, so she retired her #, got on mine, with the help of FMCA. Now, she cannot get on Forum! WTF? That makes no sense and feels like pure greed on FMCA's part...we only have one coach now. -
Ray, I think that's the same RR we found with Fantasy Tours in 2019! With the AC Tradition at 12' 3", no problem....our friend in front of us at 13' 4" + antenna, heard it. LOL Now we have a King Aire at 13' 4".

We use TSD. Got 138 gal (200 tank) at Petro in OKC, OK and saved $51+ at pump!

They have the battery at Amazon!

Chris. How is the clearance between drive tires, no rubbing? It will effect your speed reading/odometer, less RPM. Do tires in front scuff on wheel wells when you make a tight turn. I just looked them up, from Thailand and you'll find the inflation chart under PRIMX Truck/Bus! They come in 16 sizes!

A house awning is not a RV awning! Are you a Troll?

Very windy? If it gets over 40 mph (Tropical Storm Winds), I'll move and try to get coach nose into it. Otherwise I do as Wayne! Takes a lot to move a 61,000 pound coach. -
Nothing wrong with any DP or Super C diesel, Newmar! DS is top off entry level DP, we know a lot of people with the DP & Mountain Air (Low end Luxury level). Since you both are in agreement, pull the trigger and buy it.

I don't think so!

Jayco is a good brand.

I agree, but I for one, will miss my friend Jim S. and other's who chose to retire their FMCA# , because they can't drive anymore or life change! One day that will happen to all of us and its sad to think, that then, we will not be able to share our knowledge to other members or newbies! -
AIM is also having a preconvention Rally and Caravanning in the 6th! Guessing 70+ coaches.

Jim S. has been a full member on Forum since 2010...Since his F# is retired, I think he and others with a F# should be "Grandfathered." Just MHO!
-
I fully agree with the EB decision! IMHO that should have been done in 2009...I have seen very little benefit in having it open!

Thank you, Ray! Never did get a call back...We have an appointment with NIRVC in Dallas the 22nd and I think they told me in Feb that its in parts, in Atlanta! -
When it comes to RV's, I think most of us that have other brands over Michelins, are based on personal reason, price, ride, experience! A coach tire IMHO should be safe for 6-7 years, but when the sidewall start getting cracks at 4.5 to 5.5 years, you start looking at other brands! Price does not equal a good, consistent coach tire. As for brand, I hate paying for their advertising! My coach is heavy and it runs on 365/80/22.5, Spartan K3 Chassis, Cummins 600, 12.5 Kw generator, 200 gal fuel tank and 145 gal fresh water...weight when loaded for travel around 60,000 pounds + toad. The coach has Nov. 2017 Michelins and I'm keeping an eye on them. I'll probably get new tires (Hankook or Kelly or TOYO) before we go to Alaska this summer. Why those brands? I've had them before! My guess is that coach brands, get a very cheap deal, from Michelin for running their tire!
-
Ray, you may have a lack of use! Most of us don't, and like FIVE my last set (before I got current coach) was just over 4 years old and you could see the side core on the Michelin's, cracks where deep & the Tire shop that replaced all 8 with BFG's in NJ, told me I had maybe 1000 miles left, if that. We had a 7,000+/- trip to Canada, that we where on...I put 9,700 miles on the BFG's by the time we got back to Texas! We normally put 14,000 miles a year on coach. The tires on my current coach is 365/80/22.5 Michelins, 3 years 7 month old, per DOT. I'm keeping a vary eye on them and if we do go to Alaska this summer, I might change them out for new shoes.... urbanhermit. I would not run TOYO's on my cars or LT/Trucks, heavy coach, yes! We have Pirelli's on the cars and NITTO's on Jeeps and trucks (NITTO is made by TOYO)!

If Canada does not open up, then our Alaska trip will be cancelled and we'll come to WY. We'll let Herman and Bill know!

JOS66. Very few brands, I have not had in the past 54 years of class A ownership. That also goes for chassis! Unless you get a pre 2007 DP, you have your choice of 3 chassis, Freightliner, Spartan and Powerglide, the later is by Tiffen and only available on a Allegro DP. I currently run a Spartan K3 Mountainmaster and Allison 4000, Cummins IISX600. My previous coach was a American Coach Tradition 45Y, Spartan K2, Allison 3000, Cummins 425. The only reason for Allison 3000 or 4000 is limited by HP and Torque, Less than 500 HP = the 3000. Have never had any issues with a Allison! Regardless of make/model, the only problem is EPA mandates.....Newer coach, you get EGR, Particulate filter and DEF, also a lot of Electrical run by computers! The old days of KISS is long gone... Rear radiator or side? They both have +/- ! Feel free to ask us anything any time!
