2011 Fleetwood Storm 28': Marker Lights Question
jleamont replied to Aircherokee's topic in Electrical
is it the fuse listed on here position F6? -
Yea, the tacky wall paper can hide a bunch of mishaps

Carl, that is an amazing story. This is why I brought this post back to life. I was pleasantly interested in Hermans story, it drew me in.

This post needs to continue with all of the Newbies......

I figured all of this out, just have to take the time and fix it, and think about how I should attack. The old owner had something mounted in the closet, he ran screws into the closet wall that were too long, it appears he struck the truss in the side wall of the coach and snapped off one screw just as it dimpled out the side skin, that is what's causing the push out. Thinking I will remove the inside closet wall and see if I can remove the screw, perhaps inject some glue and go outside and push it back into place. I told my DW, if I destroy the interior wall in the closet, you get the cedar closet you admired at the RV show.

Jeep Wrangled or Patriot/Compass
jleamont replied to Jmholb57's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
We tow a 4 door Wrangler behind us now, seats 5 comfortably, nice to drive (DW's daily driver). Plenty of room in the back for stuff you might want to purchase. This is one of many Jeeps we have had over they years, the last 4 door we had was an 09, I towed it with our Class C with a V10 it weighed 1800 over my max towing capacity, when we traded down to a 2 door Wrangler (a little over 1000lbs less)It didn't feel any different to me behind the RV. Get a high quality tow bar and a Proportional breaking system and enjoy it. I wouldn't look toward a Patriot or Compass due to the weight difference. -

Newbie Water Tank & Black Tank Flush Question
jleamont replied to Squinko's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
3? I carry two. 2, 15's and the coupler to connect them. Just used them on our last trip to DE -
While I do agree some are worse than others. And some don't give proper access for repairs and maintenance. Nothing like needing a sawzall to access the engine

Obedb, maybe you are thinking of Winnie?

Carl, good to know for when we head your way next summer, I'll have to remind the wife people over in those parts are friendly. Every once in a while I get an older couple that is friendly and wants to chat, any in our age group or younger wouldn't give us the time of day if I asked. I'm a friendly guy I always say hello and good morning to people, I get snubbed. If I'm near the coach, if I'm not they will respond back, very strange. I hope that don't make its way onto here if this restructures, it will be a sad day.

Here is a topic that might help; Just my personal opinion, If I were shopping for a new coach Newmar would be my 1st choice, probably my only on that scale of a product. The placement of items that require maintenance on a Newmar are placed properly for access, they seem to be the only one that has common sense in their engineering practices. You never hear someone bragging about how they had to drive 2000 miles for warranty repairs in a Newmar, that in of itself still baffles me why that is so common with Tiffin and that they allow their dealer support to be so poor.

Ditto! That has paid for itself 5x over in discounts. We hung out at a GS rally once, we were out of place and didn't realize it, surrounded by trailers that only go no more than 100 miles 3x a year, they looked at us like we were strange when we discussed all the trips we have taken in the coach. Once they saw what we had for an RV, the cold shoulders came out and that was the end of that. They like you when they think they have something on you, once the hand changes you are ousted. I hope this is just an East Coast thing and its not this way all over the US, its getting old.

Glad you can remove yours from the housing. Mine is all one piece. The replacement K&N you have to cut the element out of this housing .

Jim, how is the trim attached. I can see a fine silicone joint but I can't help but think there is something else holding it down. I did consider pulling the closet wall and peeking in.
-
I have what appears to be a screw that has backed out under the exterior wall pushing on the fiberglass. It always had a dimple there, but it looks like it grew. At first I thought water, but all seams are sealed and tight. It looks like if I remove the trim I might be able to correct and reglue the fiberglass skin. Any idea how that trim comes off?

Bill, the only benefit is overall cost. You pay more up front and wash and re-oil after, that is where the savings come in. You will not see a power increase with one despite their advertising. The engine can only handle so much air and the stock filter is more than adequate for that on a large diesel application. I have seem a few dusted engines because of their filters, now was it not oiled properly or just allowing too much dirt in, who knows.....The risk doesn't out weigh the benefit...wait there is no benefit other than cost over time. The only time I have ever heard of a vehicle performing better is when the air box is undersized from the manufacture, but changing the filter alone isn't going to help in that situation. Most modern engines have mass air flow sensors on them which will only allow so much in based off of software, even with no filter it doesn't matter. In summary unless its a heavily modified race engine that can take more air and is overhauled frequently its not worth the upfront cost and risk.

Just what you need, another trailer

We stayed in that area for a week over the summer, nice area, we really liked Sanibel Island. We stayed in Port Charlotte FL and drove to Sanibel in the Toad. I was planning on staying at Red Coconut RV resort in FT Myers, but changed our plans to Myakka River RV resort due to the space concerns at Red Coconut. Are there any beach front campgrounds down there?

I got to play with one from this company back in 2013, pretty neat, you can slide the axle forward and backwards to adjust the tongue weight. http://tandem-tow.com/index.html
