My guess is that most residential refrigerators will run on a modified sine wave inverter. That is, until the models that are not compatible have compressor burnout.😡 Herman and Joe Leamont have Smasung units that are compatible with the modified inverters. They have had good results and are happy with the change. Pure sine wave inverters have seen significant price drops in the last few years. My guess is that the pure sine wave inverter/ chargers have dropped also. If I was going to make the change to a residential refrigerator I would have to consider a new inverter/charger as well. You would then be able take your pick of refrigerator models.

I traveled US191 south out of Bozeman to West Yellowstone, Montana and then into the park. Good road. US 287 is marked for big trucks to West Yellowstone in my Motor Carriers Road Atlas. Should be ok.

Believe that I read the Direct TV Traveler can be modified to receive Dish signals. One or the other, not both. Bill Adams would know. We do not dry camp anymore so there is usually park cable for local channels. When I book a reservation, I always tell them that that we need a site that works with a roof top dish. Most are becoming pretty savvy about them. If they don't have such a site, we move on in our search. Direct TV has twice the customer base that Dish has. Gotta be a reason.

Head to upstate New York. Maybe Alexandria Bay. Would stay away from the coast until more is known.

Centramatics have always worked well for me. Used them on large trucks for years and they can be moved to another rig. Customer service on the phone is very good. Made in the US. Put them on our Phaeton along with a new set of tires shortly after buying it. Pricey but as the tire wears, the Centramatics compensate for it.

We have the Winegard Traveler for Direct TV. Paid high $15 hundred range and installed the unit my self. Once you get used to HD, other resolutions are difficult for us to enjoy. Started enjoying TV in Kansas City area at 6yo old with my family's first TV. Put up with awful reception from place to place as our family moved with my dad's military career. Never had cable anywhere. Probably was not much better than OTA anyway. Joined Direct TV in 1995. When they rolled out HD service and I viewed it at Circuit City, it was expensive, but I got on a wait list at Sears for a Samsung HD CRT set. Thing weighed a ton but I got it up the steps from our garage, and onto a cabinet with some assistance from Betty. Been hooked since. Gave the original set to a friend and moved up in size when the widescreen became available. Biggest was a 52" LCD Samsung. If you just want noise in the background with a not very good picture, watch park cable. If you want to fight with a portable dish for SD cable, go for it. Been there, done that. The Traveler Direct TV Dish is it for us. It can be moved from RV to RV. If you are debating the wisdom of buying one, than you are not a lover of a quality signal with many choices, that you can not get with OTA tv and even then you have to be mostly within 40 or 50 miles.

Our Phaeton tag in PA costs $120 per year. No PP Tax. Social Security and Pensions are not taxed. Earned interest is taxed, but that amounts to very little now. Real estate tax from the school system and the county does add up to $5690. That is how they get us. Meant to add that I looked at an LLC to tag in Montana but the numbers did not add up for us. Thought about full timing, but Betty likes her doctor and sees her ( lady MD) every four months. Would have been running back east too often.

As a trucker I stopped at the Pilot in Quartzite a few times over the years, and always after dark. Wondered about the place and the magic attached to it. Now I have an idea that it would not work for us, but to each his own.😎

Climb onto the roof when it is 113 degrees? Sheez!!

Lived in CAT powered truck tractors ( that is technically what they are called ) for many years of use. Both mechanically governed and electronically governed. Set them at or about 1000 rpm to keep the oil pressure up, run the a/c compressor , and with CAT's great regulators ( thermostats ) the temp was always where it should have been. Turned the engine fan on constant run to save the a/c cycling the fan clutch. That has to be tough on a part like that. In winter I slept down into the high twenties in a nice warm sleeping bag with the engine off. Why would idling a CAT be any different than idling a Detroit 2 stroke other than getting a partial oil change with the Detroit.😄😂 Glad that your problem was solved.

Change in idle load could cause it maybe. Have idled a lot of CATs over the years and it was supreme. Mechanical governor or electronic A/C cycle or air compressor cycle never phased them. It was like nothing happened. Not at all like the Cummins stuff that I grew up with. Maybe you have a leaking air dryer. Check out back with the idle set and listen for a loud pop when the dryer cycles. Just a thought.

Remember what I did for 46 years Joe. I would be right at home. Not all trucks ride alike. Have driven many after air ride showed up for drive axles and trailer axles that were amazing.

Happy they at least took the time to help you. I understand why a lot of truck repair places don't want to work on RVs, especially Class A units. Limited access to engines and some (not all) uninformed owners. Truck tractors offer plenty of room underneath and just raise the hoog for engine access. Most things are easy to get to. I often wish I had looked for a Super C although probably scarce on the used market. The engine and chassis could probably be worked on most places. Yes Carl/ I would be willing to give the room taken up by the cab. Lived in a 5' deep by 8' wide sleeper for a lot of years.😉

Was gonna suggest that they do a bypass of the air dryer if that was the problem and a replacement was not in stock. Their website shows working on big trucks so I hoped they would be able to help. Great price for a governor. As Bill Edwards and Joe suggested, they do fail. Funny. I used to carry a spare when "big rigging" ,but I have forgotten my habit. Think that I am gonna get a spare plus one. Happy that you are back on the road.

There are two companies in Cookeville that sell truck parts, but both are closed weekends. Commercial Truck Parts has a limited website, but they look like a good choice. Still don't know how to transfer a url , but the site offers a phone number and operating hours. Take the regulator with you.

We have a Dirt Devil central system. Betty really likes it, because she will not use it. She made it my job.🙄 I think that it does a good job.

You probably will not believe this but we put our coach away in early October of last year with all batteries fully charged. Got to feeling down because Betty was fighting a dreaded disease. Did not return to the coach for over 8 months. Finally decided to go over to see what I was going to have to do to make the rv useable. Four six volt wet cell house batteries and two wet cell group 31 starting batteries with no hookup at all. The Onan genset and the Caterpillar started easily after over 8 months of neglect. No booster switch. Both on their on. Could not begin to explain why.

Their products have been around since the mid fifties. I use it every time that I fuel.

Knew an eccentric local small truck fleet owner that always changed steer tires in his shop that way. Swore by it. The method I have seen many times in fleet tire shops, that always kept me at a distance, was getting the tire in place, air chuck on the stem with air pressure wide open, ether (yes explosive ether) sprayed into and around the tire, and a brave mechanic lighting it with his cigarette lighter. Worked every time it was tried. Cheaper than all of that expensive equipment. 😄😳
