Benefits Of Tow Dolly Over 4 Tires On The Ground?
elkhartjim replied to bdensford's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Everything I've ever read says a Jeep can only be towed 4 down or on a trailer. It cannot be towed using a dolly. The manuals for my 2005 Wrangler and 2014 Wrangler, both automatics, state to only tow 4 wheels down. -
This thread was over a year ago. The EMS (elms) board he is referring to is for the Energy Management System.

The brake lights activate on my motorhome when the exhaust brake is applied but so do and some don't. Have someone follow you and you'll know for sure.

Jeep Wrangler Towing Advice for Motorhome "Newbie"
elkhartjim replied to fagnaml's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Like Herman, I'm a real advocate for the M&G braking system; I especially appreciate its a truly proportional system. The more pressure applied to the motorhome brake the more braking is applied on my Jeep brakes. M&G, in Athens, can install the baseplate on your Jeep at the time they install the brake. Also, you can arrive the night before and park next to their building where they have 50amp service available. I believe the Invisibrake gets its signal from the motorhome brake lights, what happens when you're descending a long grade using your exhaust brake? Since the exhaust brake eliminates the brake lights, does that mean it would activate the toad brakes? -
Fishing Bridge if you want to stay inside the park or Grizzly if staying outside the west entrance. Colter Bay campground near the Tetons. It may be difficult getting reservations in Fishing Bridge this late but sure worth a try. Enjoy, its a beautiful park. The campground we stayed in is Colter Bay RV Park.

I had the exact issue a few months ago in reverse and in my case it was a bad relay in the transfer switch. Everything worked fine on shore power but would not work when using the genset..

Thanks, Tom. When I go to those posts, I feel I'm unknowingly intruding into a private conversation.

Auxiliary Braking System: 2013 Honda CRV?
elkhartjim replied to lawgirl11's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
To answer your question, yes you need a braking system. I prefer the M&G Engineering with proportional braking. -
Glacier NP (East Entrance) To West Yellowstone-- Best Route?
elkhartjim replied to ropech's question in Destinations/Attractions
89 to 287 to I 15 then back on 287. That is really your only choice. Just curious, what made you choose to stay in St Mary, MT? Its a beautiful park...both of them. -
It will help if you provide the following information: 1. Year, Manufacturer, Model of your motorhome. 2. I'm assuming its a diesel pusher since you said you walked to the back, etc. Cummins or Cat ? HP 3. You said you saw coolant leaking from under the engine. Was it under the radiator/water pump or really under the engine?
-
It might also be one that has an obvious answer but you have asked the question to make a point, to persuade or for literary effect. There's your answer, Bill.

It was a rhetorical question.

"The manufacture's weight label (the label next to the driver's seat in the cockpit) indicates recommended tire pressures of 110 PSI for all six tires." Is this the recommended pressure or maximum allowable pressure of wheel/tire combination?

I will not take that bet! "No known cure for stupid" also goes for taking bad bets.

Being a Blue Ox equipment owner, I don't like to read about uninformed users bad mouthing a manufacturer. Usually the story includes "I have a friend", "a friend told me", "I read on the internet" or some statement like this. I would like to know and Blue Ox would like to know who astmi spoke with at Blue Ox that gave out the information that the Aladdin BX 4325 was no longer being made.
-
I just spoke to Linda in customer service with Blue Ox. The Aladdin BX 4325 is still being made. The OP is partially correct however, they stopped making the BX4325 out of aluminum in September 2009. It was rated at 5000 pounds. Since September 2009, the only part of the BX4325 made from aluminum is the outer shell where the release handles are located. The inside shaft is steel. The BX4325 is now rated at 7500 pounds. Prior to September 2009, the BX4325 was all aluminum. I told Linda she may get other calls and she said she would be happy to answer any questions regarding Blue Ox towbars. She can be reached at 402-385-3051. If you call and ask do you make a tow bar that is ALL aluminum the answer will be not since September, 2009.
