  1. Agree Brett ! Think there are 3 different valves in the left side of the picture. One large black knob, one smaller black knob and one silver one One in the Red line, One in the Blue line – behind and below the one in the Red line. Then there is one in the blue line that goes towards the water pump. All three are on the left side of the bay! One in the Red line possible hot water system drain. 2 valves in the blue line - left side. 1 that is hard to see in the picture - below and behind the red line. Then there is one in the blue line that goes towards the water pump( left side) and I have to think that is the intake side. Kind of keep thinking the one close to the bottom of the bay is a possible drain for the freshwater tank and or the one used to also fill the tank. Rich.
  2. What color is the line going in to the bottom of the freshwater tank? Kind of thinking it will be blue for cold water and the red is for the hot water. Just now noticed a silver manual valve in the blue line that goes toward the water pump. Think I'm going blind, considering how many times I have look at the OP's attached picture. Kind of hard to believe that the valve to allow one to fill the freshwater tank would be totally hidden. Just need to find out if there is a need to set more then one valve in the correct configuration.. Rich.
  3. Look just behind the Oval knob in the red water line, I cropped the picture. It sure looks like there is a small valve in the Blue water line, just below and behind the Red line. It sure looks like there is a brass line valve with a smaller oval handle ! So frustrating not to be able to attach anymore Images. One does the best they can ! Rich. Brass Valve.docx
  4. Hi Kay, I was just thinking about the picture and that oblong knob in the picture that is labeled tank shutoff. In the picture it looks like it is located in the red line and and in the closed position. Rich.
  5. richardzurn, Welcome to the FMCA Forum ! Could you post the model of the stove for the group? Now a question, does the water heater and refrigerator work on LP normally ? If you have a gauge system panel-what is the reading on the tank level? and what type of system do you have LED lights or other ? Can you tell if the supply line to the stove top is solid, flexible steel or plastic? What is stored under the stove top - any possibility of a crushed or kinked supply line ? Rich.
  6. Been there Done that a few times myself! So look at the up side ! You probably know more about the 12 volt system then you wanted, but I have a feeling that the knowledge gained will pay off some time. Rich.
  7. This is a Rx area that because some states have passed legislation allowing its use for those who qualify and the Federal level setting on there hands, with no idea of where to go regarding the medical information that tends to point to use's that defiantly helps individuals young and old. All states except drivers license's from other states, so maybe a note on each license or state ID for non drivers could be used and quickly verified through the national DMV data base. I know this is a political area, so I'm trying to walk softly. Any one of us could be caught in this circle. Rich.
  8. Just thought that I would try to list just a few contact numbers and some locations that might be helpful to coach owners. In no way is this complete, but if others have some good information on factory service locations, pass them on. Rich. 9. Smarksel, My first thought would be to check the connection of the sensor. They are exposed to the road elements and there could be a corrosion issue. You did not mention any check engine issue, the sensor signal is also used to time the engine. A Cummins tech could check for any codes and also look at the connections. Are you a member of the Cummins Power Club? Should you need some work done on the coach, members ship helps pay for parts and labor. Last I knew it was 10%. Rich.
  10. On our coach, they placed a bypass line around the water pump with a manual valve that fills the potable water tank when open and the pump uses the same tank connection to pull water from when it is closed. Simple but very effective. Rich.
  11. bburns8! Thinking your coach has wet hubs on the front, though gear oil does not smell like rubber. Look and see if you have a leak in one of the front wheel seals. How far do you drive before you smell the hot rubber? or after some heavy braking? Hot running wheel bearings or a failed seal could be a possibility. Rich.
  12. I have wondered how hot Diesel fuel gets when stored in above tanks? When it gets dropped into the station underground tanks it will cool to around 55 to 60 degrees in our area. Can not offer any real good information as to what the underground temps are in the South West during the summer. Got to ask if your tank was full when you took the reading? Always use Bioside during the summer and the coach is setting for a length of time. Kind of cheep insurance to prevent or reduce the odds of the black slim formation. Running with more then half tank and moving should keep it a little cooler and that sure helps keep the injector pumps running a little cooler. Rich.
  13. Roland, if you mean from the instrument cluster connection, Yes You would use the service data port and it is separate from the dash display connection, located under the dash and a second connection is mounted in the engine compartment as mentioned by Brett ! Rich.
  14. Roland, The Scan D system works well and is not out of the world price wise, then there is the VMSpc system software from Silverleaf. A little more on the price side, but the software can be added to personal computer and allows one to monitor more of the system at the same time. A little like a glass dash displayed on the screen. Both systems work well and the choose is what best fits your price and information requirements. Rich.

  16. Hopefully some helpful notes on Generators when using AGS, switching from Shore Power to Generator or from Generator to shore power. Per Onan Handbook. Not All RV.s are setup the same regarding time delay relays and ATS wiring, so one needs some basic understanding of the coach 120 / 240 (30 or 50 amp)voltage electrical systems. Operating Motor Driven Appliances When using an appliance with a motor, turn it on and let it reach normal running speed before starting other appliances. Air conditioners, like all electric motors, can draw up to three times more power during the first few seconds of start up than during normal operation. While this is common for all electric motors, it is especially true for air conditioners if the compressor tries to start against built-up high pressure in its refrigeration system. Air Conditioner “Short-Cycling” When an air conditioner runs, the compressor builds refrigerant pressure. When the compressor is then shut off, either manually or by satisfying thermostat demand, it must stay off for some period of time, usually 3-4 minutes, to allow pressure in the system to equalize before safely restarted. Trying to restart the air conditioner compressor before pressure equalizes is known as “short-cycling”. A “short-cycled” air conditioner could 1) trip the air conditioner circuit breaker; 2) shut down the generator due to overload; or 3) trip the air conditioner due to thermal overload. The air conditioner thermal overload will reset itself after the compressor cools. Typically, you cannot manually reset. Some, but not all, RV air conditioner thermostats have built-in time delays to prevent short-cycling. Short-cycling occurs in some RVs when the thermostat is mounted so that cold air blows directly on it. If this happens, the thermostat shuts the compressor off before the cabin has cooled, but quickly warms back up and signals the compressor to restart before refrigerant pressure equalizes. In this case, direct the flow of air from the air conditioner away from the thermostat or relocate the thermostat. You can prevent air conditioner short-cycling by always ensuring the air conditioner rests for 3-4 minutes after the compressor shuts off before trying to restart it. Effects Of High Altitude And Extreme Temperatures If you travel at high altitudes or in extreme temperatures, your generator can lose power. In such lower-density air conditions, you can’t operate as many electrical devices as you could under normal operating conditions. Power decreases 3.5% for each 1,000 feet above an altitude of 500 feet. For example, to operate at 4,500 feet (4,000 feet above rated generator altitude) multiply 3.5% x 4 (4,000 ft) = 14% power loss. Then multiply .14 x your generator’s power rating: 4,000 watts x .14 = a loss of 560 watts at that altitude. Power decreases in extreme temperatures by 1% for each 10°F (5.5°C) above 77°F (25°C). Rich.
  17. The Onan diesel generators can be primed by holding the start switch in the stop position for 30 to 45 seconds, then retry the start position. If it starts you might have a fuel supply line or fuel pump problem starting to show up. Fuel possibly draining back to the tank do to a compromised supply line. Kay, did mention cleaning the 12 volt connections, but you did not say that the engine was turning over slowly. There is a fuse under the circuit breaker cover that might be blown. This fuse is for the glow plug power feed. If you get it started and warmed up - stop the generator. Try letting it set for 15 to 20 min. If it starts right up that could indicate a glow plug issue. The oil level being low is also a possible issue ? You did not mention the year of your coach or how many Hrs. on the generator. Note, in a resent conversation with Cummins power, they mentioned that there has been an issue with the fuel pump. I regret to say that I forgot to ask if there was a particular production run or if the pump problem was related to the change to ULSD that affected the chassis engines. Rich.
  18. Mike, take a look at this link. It might be located as indicated in the picture. https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-006&ei=utf-8&fr=ytff1-yff46&p=Chev.%20P30%20Chassis%20VIN%20Tag%20location&type= Look at the pictures of the tag location for the RV or P series chassis. Rich.
  19. Looked into replacement DOT, LP Tank and flexible steel breaded high pressure line suppliers. Breaded Steel Flexible LP Filler lines. Flex Tech IN. 1-574-264-0230 You will need to find one of there outlets. No direct shipment to end users for safety issues or get the work done at Decatur factory service. There are just a limited number of locations the will replace a high pressure filler line used on the frame mounted LP tanks. Manchester Tanks, Elkhart IN. They supply the DOT horizontal and vertical LP Tank in a number of sizes . 1-800-640-6327 www.mantank.com Remember there is a manually operated shutoff valve on the output side of the LP tanks so service can be performed on items downstream of the LP Tanks. It is not always real obvious. Rich.
  20. Blake, if the fridge is still working, you might just run it on LP. Think that if you do some research into the fire issue, they have caused fires when on AC and the heater coils fail. I can not recall reading anything that mentioned a fire when the fridge was running on LP. Rich.
  21. Bill, I'm a little slow, but I did have an air issue that I missed for a time. The air supply (braided line) between the air compressor and the drier had a sneaky leak and when that was replaced the air ride system worked much better. After resetting the ride height with a good steady supply of air. I had replaced all the air bags because they where very stiff and cracked. The ride was much better,,but still lazy. Rich.
  22. Bill, Could very well be a leak in the left front air bag. The leaks can be on the top or bottom and not in the sides. Rust buildup can puncture the air bags and they are out of sight an tight enough area that getting soppy water between the rubber and frame to see bubbles is not so easy and if one is bad you might just as well replace both at the same time. Is the air compressor always running or will it cycle? Rich.
  23. If you are parked, place an open box of baking soda behind the refrigerator-make a note for the dash to remind you to remove it when driving. It will slowly help to remove the smell when setting. Also place a box in side the fridge and freezer and leave them for a week or two. It will take some time for the smell to dissipate. If your new cooling unit has fans, some of the smell will be vented out the top, but not quickly. The smell hangs around just like the shrunk smell though. Rich.
  24. Bob, Kind of missed your post ! Been riding around in the coach and talking more then reading. There is a board located in the Roof AC unit with the relays. Think if you remove the inside cover, think you will see the diagram. Duo Therm Service manual link- hope it helps. if it is you make and AC system http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/ccc.pdf Rich.
  25. Bob, check the low voltage wiring that controls the fan speed and the relay that connects the 120 volts to the compressor. Kind of thinking that compressor relay has power when it is set to the fan only position on the control system inside the coach. Hi and low fan speed normal? Who's control system is used Intelitec- or other and what model ? Rich.
