    Generator

I go with Bill regarding the blue smoke. Always good to check the oil level when the unit has set for a time. After it started and run for a time, did you shut it down and try a restart? did it start right up? When you have the unit serviced - make sure they clean the spark arrester - by removing the system plug in the exhaust system and running the generator under a heavy load. This will clean the soot buildup from the system and it does not take a lot of soot in the wrong place to cause issues. Rich.
  2. I hope your not along the East coast from N.C. to Boston Mass. They are in for something like 6in. to 30in. depending on how this storm tracks. Rich.
  3. nkgunner, Could you attach a picture of the batteries you want to replace. you should have 4 or more 6 volt batteries for the coach and 2 -12 volt batteries for the chassis. The most common configuration. Note! the 6 volts are more square and the 12 volt size is more like a rectangle. The dimensions you posted are for the rectangular batteries - most likely the 31 series. Got to ask if you have a Gas or Diesel coach and what Model an Year? Rich
  4. Todd, I'm using Microsoft operating system and Fire Fox for my browser. Rich
  5. I'm Having pop up issues -- When I click on a Forum title link the first time, like engines, electrical or any other item. I get and external link to all kinds of sights at random. When I click on them a second time, I get what I'm looking for? Where would I look to block this problem ? My security software does not fine any issues! This seams to be an issue when I first open the subject thread-like I'm dragging add ware an it opens only first time. Close the link and reopen it and all is normal; as long as I stay on the section of the FMCA web page I'm interested in -or stay on the web page and not wander off to a new window - tab. on the internet ! Rich
  6. To All, this software got into my computer while updating my search engine. It looks very official, but it is trouble. Just wanted to help others avoid a problem! Been getting more then my share as of late! Rich.
  7. dcstein, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! I'm not real familiar with your coach, but in regards to the Genset repair: The Onan units have one belt that drives the water pump, that has a replacement scheduled at 1000 hrs. per there information. Should your coach Generator be equipped with a slid out - that makes working on them much easier. If your generator not be mounted in this way, it must be removed for the coach to replace the water pump belt, or any other maintenance other then Oil changes, oil filter, fuel filters and the fuel pump. The good thing is that the belts can last for 250 to 500 more hrs, but there is no way of knowing for sure. So if you depend on it more often if you dry camp more, then it would have a higher priority. Bill, made many good points regarding the repairs if you do not have some good repair records that would establish a good base line of the condition of the coach chassis, engine, drive line and transmission. Along with the condition and age of the tires !!! Rich.
  8. Yep - Dave does not need to run the engine but do keep an eye on the water level in the coach batteries if they are wet cells. The water level should be good for 2 to 3 months on average. Might add-Clean the floor as needed, dust the inside surfaces, Keep the windows clean, might need to clean off the chairs and always have the wine-cheese and crackers ready! Rich.
  9. Herman, Steve runs a tight ship, Jeff might have to file a "Request For Leave" form! LOL Hope the parking crew catches some good weather! See you and Brett in Perry. Need to call the Office and see if they need help with Security and maybe 6 packs. The bending down over extended time is not as easy anymore. LOL Then our local chapter is helping with the Northeast Rally. Not sure of all the details on that one yet !! Rich.
  10. Thanks Kay ! The wiring I setup is different, but you are correct about the total current. I have to be careful when posting early in the morning when the coffee has warren off !!! Rich.
  11. Lyle, 2 Batteries are connected in series to make 12 volts. Each set offers a total of 135 AH. The 2 series sets are connected in Parallel. With 2 series sets in parallel offers a total of 270 AH. Battery Connections 2-135 AH batteries in series =135 AH *2 in Parallel = 270 AH To positive source(Charger).or Load To common ground ↑ ↑ +P---B 1---N-Connect↔-+P--B 2---N to ground =12 volts@135 AH ↕ Connect 2 Positives ↕ Connect 2 Negatives = 270 AH +P---B 3---N-Connect↔-+P--B 4---N to ground = 12 volts@135 AH Rich.
  12. Harold, Try this phone number for Michelin. 1-866-866-6605 hope it helps get in contact! Rich
  13. Mike try this information and see if you can get an answer or some us full information. http://www.dimplex.com/en/contact_us Technical specialists: 1-888-346-7539 Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. EST Rich,
  14. The fact that it started and then ran for 1/2hr. then shut down and the same problem happen more then once, kind of leads to a defective connection. My first thought would be the ground has rusted and the connection comes and goes. The positive side of this issue is it gives you a chance to have the entire fuel delivery system checked and the fuel filter changed along with the fuel pump. You did not post the number of miles on the coach? The other connection to check is the fuel pump power feed and if my memory is good- I think you will find the pump power is supplied using a fusible link and they a often connected at the starter positive terminal an there could be some corrosion at that connection also. Good luck, Rich.
  15. bjrbholbrook, Welcome to the FMCA Forum and posting a question. See you have had an account for a few years! You might want to try calling Ford Chassis Service Assistance at 1-800-444-3311. Think they are open 24/7 and ask what might be causing the issue. Rich.
  16. Genedee, Welcome to the FMCA Forum ! The fact that your coach is a 2016 Model, the slide system should be covered by a warrenty and one would think the dealer would have someone stop at your location and check it out. Second-how much do you have loaded in the slide storage areas inside an out - weight wise ? Rich.
  17. Toney, From your description, it sounds like one of the baffle doors is stuck. These doors open and close as needed to mix the AC(Cold air) and the hot air supplied from the different sections of the mixer box. The most common problem is the seals get sticky and hold the doors closed so you can not get the proper air temperatures blowing out different vents. The other possibility is one of the vacuum actuators is defective or broken. Thing is you have a 2013 model year, if I'm reading your post correctly and in that case the mixing box assembly should not be the issue, But stranger things have happened. So the only item that would make sense to me would be a vacuum control problem or a vacuum pump issue. The fact that you can select where the air is directed, Windshield defroster, dash vents and floor kind of muddies those thoughts also. The problem should be in the mixing box, as long as you have cold AC lines and hot lines on both the input and output of the box. Rich.
  18. Mike, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! First thing is to check is if there is power to the fuel pump. If there is power is the fuel pimp running? Fuel pressure should be around 60psi. at the pump output. Check the inline fuel filter.(could be restricting fuel flow) Next item is the fuel pressure regulator that controls the injector fuel pressure. Let the group know how you are making out. Rich.
  19. sumthinsup, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! You might take a look at Hankook Bus Tires. Have heard some good feedback form some owners that like them. Check on rim size and RPMs per mile and that the circumference of the tires match when inflated to 110 lbs - need to be within 3/4in in circumference. Remember to reset the pressures to the required levels for the load. You need to know there enough clearance between the tires when used in the duel configuration. http://www.hankooktire.com/global/tires-services/trucks-buses.html Matching tires from different suppliers and age is challenging, but the reward is knowing you will have a safe ride. Rich.
  20. gaylemarlowe, You might try giving Newmar Customer Service a call at 1-800-731- 8300 and see if they can supply you with some PDF files covering the monitoring system wiring. Rich.
  21. Bob T. Welcome to the FMCA Forum! Not sure if this like will help, but let the group know. See if anything looks like your setup. http://www.hwh.com/roomlocks3.html I will see what other information I can find. Rich
  22. Brett had some good thoughts regrading replacing the water pump and radiator. Think you might ask the owner if they plan any long trips and how soon. They might have some shorter trips planed that would allow them to get some run time on the coach and to keep an eye on things. Should they be planing a long trip right now, then they will need to make the choice(s) on just how much work would be prudent at this time. Also, how many miles are on the coach? Might contact the previous owner for any records or who they used and what the shop was asked to service and if there was any warranty time frame that might help to off set the repairs. It never cost anything to ask. The numbers you posted do suggest that items where ignored, but as you mentioned - how could the location really say the coach was ready when picked up on the West coast. Reputable shops do not like bad feed back. Unhappy clients spread there thoughts faster then happy ones !!! Rich.
  23. lleamont, The ISB-02 is the only one I know of that has the in line filter, but a call to Freightliner C.C. with the coach VIN would cover that question. One item that you might want to change if it is the OEM coolant is the thermostat,. with the numbers he got on the coolant; the material in the assembly might not be in the best condition and changing it at the same time you do the coolant could save issues over the next 4 or five years. Think the temps are going up to the upper 40's to 50's around the end of the week in your area. Rich. Note-One Coach owner found the filter behind the rear axle on the passenger side. (On the strait trucks- the filter is mounted with a bracket near the oil pan ) Info. might come in handy if you work on a delivery truck with the ISB-02 !!!
  24. chp007kd40! Remember to ask about the charge limits for the Lithium batteries !! This type of technology is used in the new hoverboards and if over charged can cause fires, as many have viewed on the news reports. Rich.
  25. This series engine/chassis was built from 2002-06 and has 3 fuel filters. There are 2 of them mounted on the passenger side of the engine when installed in a motorhome. The first one (first from fuel tank) is the nasty one. It is located along the chassis frame rail - about the size of a banana. This fuel filter is located just behind the rear axle - inside the frame rail according to a Freightliner bulletin, but I know from talking to some coach owners it has been found on the drivers side behind the rear axle. There have been other owners that have had issues with service centers missing this filter because they do not know it is there on many of the 02 series engine installations. The first thing an owner of a motorhome built between 2002 and 2006 with a Cummins ISB-02 engine needs to do is contact Freightliner custom chassis with the chassis VIN number and ask if there unit has this third inline fuel filter and get the proper part number an a copy of the PDF file describing its location. Keep a copy with your information so you can provide prof of its installation. The filter location is different on some chassis even though the file mentions only the drivers side for motorhomes. The owners that have had issues with this filter have mentioned that the service centers have looked for it with little luck until a small service tech squeezes into the tight space behind the real axle near the engine and looks VERY Closely - over time it looks just like the frame area in color. At times the tech needs to follow the fuel line forward from the engine to find this very small filter that plugs up over time because of its 10 micron filter screen. This filter input and output is connected with threaded connectors. Good luck with this one as it limits fuel flow and will limit power and finally stop all the flow. There have been shops that want to replace the other 2 filters, then the fuel lift pump and then the injector pump. This is not only costly, but will not fix the problem !!!!! Rich.
