The fact that it started and then ran for 1/2hr. then shut down and the same problem happen more then once, kind of leads to a defective connection. My first thought would be the ground has rusted and the connection comes and goes. The positive side of this issue is it gives you a chance to have the entire fuel delivery system checked and the fuel filter changed along with the fuel pump. You did not post the number of miles on the coach? The other connection to check is the fuel pump power feed and if my memory is good- I think you will find the pump power is supplied using a fusible link and they a often connected at the starter positive terminal an there could be some corrosion at that connection also. Good luck, Rich.

bjrbholbrook, Welcome to the FMCA Forum and posting a question. See you have had an account for a few years! You might want to try calling Ford Chassis Service Assistance at 1-800-444-3311. Think they are open 24/7 and ask what might be causing the issue. Rich.

Genedee, Welcome to the FMCA Forum ! The fact that your coach is a 2016 Model, the slide system should be covered by a warrenty and one would think the dealer would have someone stop at your location and check it out. Second-how much do you have loaded in the slide storage areas inside an out - weight wise ? Rich.

Toney, From your description, it sounds like one of the baffle doors is stuck. These doors open and close as needed to mix the AC(Cold air) and the hot air supplied from the different sections of the mixer box. The most common problem is the seals get sticky and hold the doors closed so you can not get the proper air temperatures blowing out different vents. The other possibility is one of the vacuum actuators is defective or broken. Thing is you have a 2013 model year, if I'm reading your post correctly and in that case the mixing box assembly should not be the issue, But stranger things have happened. So the only item that would make sense to me would be a vacuum control problem or a vacuum pump issue. The fact that you can select where the air is directed, Windshield defroster, dash vents and floor kind of muddies those thoughts also. The problem should be in the mixing box, as long as you have cold AC lines and hot lines on both the input and output of the box. Rich.

Mike, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! First thing is to check is if there is power to the fuel pump. If there is power is the fuel pimp running? Fuel pressure should be around 60psi. at the pump output. Check the inline fuel filter.(could be restricting fuel flow) Next item is the fuel pressure regulator that controls the injector fuel pressure. Let the group know how you are making out. Rich.

sumthinsup, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! You might take a look at Hankook Bus Tires. Have heard some good feedback form some owners that like them. Check on rim size and RPMs per mile and that the circumference of the tires match when inflated to 110 lbs - need to be within 3/4in in circumference. Remember to reset the pressures to the required levels for the load. You need to know there enough clearance between the tires when used in the duel configuration. http://www.hankooktire.com/global/tires-services/trucks-buses.html Matching tires from different suppliers and age is challenging, but the reward is knowing you will have a safe ride. Rich.

Cummins ISB-02 Fuel Filters/ Freightliner Chassis
dickandlois replied to dickandlois's topic in Engines
Brett had some good thoughts regrading replacing the water pump and radiator. Think you might ask the owner if they plan any long trips and how soon. They might have some shorter trips planed that would allow them to get some run time on the coach and to keep an eye on things. Should they be planing a long trip right now, then they will need to make the choice(s) on just how much work would be prudent at this time. Also, how many miles are on the coach? Might contact the previous owner for any records or who they used and what the shop was asked to service and if there was any warranty time frame that might help to off set the repairs. It never cost anything to ask. The numbers you posted do suggest that items where ignored, but as you mentioned - how could the location really say the coach was ready when picked up on the West coast. Reputable shops do not like bad feed back. Unhappy clients spread there thoughts faster then happy ones !!! Rich. -
Cummins ISB-02 Fuel Filters/ Freightliner Chassis
dickandlois replied to dickandlois's topic in Engines
lleamont, The ISB-02 is the only one I know of that has the in line filter, but a call to Freightliner C.C. with the coach VIN would cover that question. One item that you might want to change if it is the OEM coolant is the thermostat,. with the numbers he got on the coolant; the material in the assembly might not be in the best condition and changing it at the same time you do the coolant could save issues over the next 4 or five years. Think the temps are going up to the upper 40's to 50's around the end of the week in your area. Rich. Note-One Coach owner found the filter behind the rear axle on the passenger side. (On the strait trucks- the filter is mounted with a bracket near the oil pan ) Info. might come in handy if you work on a delivery truck with the ISB-02 !!! -
Residential Fridge Vs Rock&Rolls & Rough Roads
dickandlois replied to chp007kd40's topic in Type A motorhomes
chp007kd40! Remember to ask about the charge limits for the Lithium batteries !! This type of technology is used in the new hoverboards and if over charged can cause fires, as many have viewed on the news reports. Rich. -
This series engine/chassis was built from 2002-06 and has 3 fuel filters. There are 2 of them mounted on the passenger side of the engine when installed in a motorhome. The first one (first from fuel tank) is the nasty one. It is located along the chassis frame rail - about the size of a banana. This fuel filter is located just behind the rear axle - inside the frame rail according to a Freightliner bulletin, but I know from talking to some coach owners it has been found on the drivers side behind the rear axle. There have been other owners that have had issues with service centers missing this filter because they do not know it is there on many of the 02 series engine installations. The first thing an owner of a motorhome built between 2002 and 2006 with a Cummins ISB-02 engine needs to do is contact Freightliner custom chassis with the chassis VIN number and ask if there unit has this third inline fuel filter and get the proper part number an a copy of the PDF file describing its location. Keep a copy with your information so you can provide prof of its installation. The filter location is different on some chassis even though the file mentions only the drivers side for motorhomes. The owners that have had issues with this filter have mentioned that the service centers have looked for it with little luck until a small service tech squeezes into the tight space behind the real axle near the engine and looks VERY Closely - over time it looks just like the frame area in color. At times the tech needs to follow the fuel line forward from the engine to find this very small filter that plugs up over time because of its 10 micron filter screen. This filter input and output is connected with threaded connectors. Good luck with this one as it limits fuel flow and will limit power and finally stop all the flow. There have been shops that want to replace the other 2 filters, then the fuel lift pump and then the injector pump. This is not only costly, but will not fix the problem !!!!! Rich.

studebakers! Welcome to the FMCA forum! The link below is for the manual covering your unit. Take a look at the information - there is a electrical drawing in the manual covering the power supply wiring and the fact that some installations include a circuit breaker. Let the group know what you find or for more help. http://www.atwoodmobile.com/manuals/furnaces/MPD%2033179%20SP%201.08.pdf Rich.

Interesting ! I would go with DD's thought regarding the replacement. Gives you some nice options and if you have the room for a good bank of coach / house batteries those options increase. Look into a pure sine wave model and the output wattage and the charging current will determine the price range. Rich.

Mike, This is a link to the owners manual that should cover your unit. The fan will keep running in some of the modes controlled by the remote. http://www.dimplex.com/cms/publications/7207030100r11_EN.pdf Let the group know how you make out. Rich.

jegall, What Model unit is currently installed in your coach ? I'm thinking you have a Inverter / Converter in your Bounder. Rich.

Regarding Phantom Loads: One needs to look at items that are remotely controlled or have a soft-switch to turn them on and off. Most of these items are powered from shore power, but there are exceptions. The refrigerator has a soft switch to turn it on and off, therefor it needs power all the time and depending on the number of - what I consider convenience items require power all the time. These loads are minimal but additive and one can have a 3 to 6 plus current draw. A number of coaches have relays that latch on but still require a holding current. The disconnect switches will remove a number of them, but the ECM, TCM and other control or logic systems require power(Think of the vehicle radio clock) (Some times one needs to reset the theft code) to retain information on engine and transmission information stored but not saved in a non volatile integrated device. Turn off the power and these items need to start over to rebuild the needed running parameters. So, if your coach converter /charger is not able to charge the coach batteries and chassis batteries at the same time one needs to consider adding a trickle charger of some sort to keep them in good condition. At times we need to power down our smart phones and computers to update the systems, but they are always drawing power. One of those soft switches again. Rich. NOTE: Forgot one that many over look and I did in this post. The LP safety circuit and the supply solenoid draws a fair amount of current and unless you turn it off manually it is always on and needs to be turned off when refilling the LP tanks !!!

The link provided connects you to the kits and replacement parts for Power Gear, Kwikee and Dewald leveling jack parts for hydraulic and electric systems. The control panels, wiring and air leveling are not part of the listed information. http://www.lci1.com/assets/content/support/technical-information-sheets/pg-82-L0505.pdf Rich.

Greenbarn1, Could you post the model and make of the thermostat and control board for the group? Different year and make coaches change things over time. Kind of keeps things interesting for the members. Rich.
-
Dwayne, Do you have air blowing out the Defroster vents? That is the default mode when the vacuum pump is not running as mentioned by Brett. The Dash AC fuse size is 30 amps in most cases and then there is a second fuse 25 amps that supplies power to the condenser fan motor. When this motor fails it blows the fuse and that can cause higher pressure in the AC Compressor, that can cause the compressors to fail. The problem is not present while the coach is moving causing air to flow over the condenser coil. Quick check is to start the Dash AC and look under the coach or in the location of the condenser coil to see if the cooling fan starts as soon as you start the AC. Rich.

Joe, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! Think your model water heater has a fuse for the 110 volt hot shot heater element on the main control board. Fuse size might be between 15 and 20 amps depending on the wattage of the element. The other possibility is the temperature safety opened, if the water level for the water heater was low and the electric heater was turned on. One needs to manually reset it and it is often mounted to the back side of the tank. There is an access panel one can remove to press the reset. BUT turn off the ac power before reaching inside the access hole. No need to get a shock !!! Then power it up again and see if it starts to make hot water-if the tank is already hot then you will need to delay the test until things cool down. LP temp point is set higher then the hotshot cut off point. Rich.

Joe, glad the issue was just the tail light connector! They use the trailer style connections and they are prone to contamination. There are better ones on the market, but at a price and more labor intensive when assembling electrical harnesses. Did the connector repair clear the headlight switch issue? Rich.
-
Joe, You mentioned that the coach is built on a Freightliner chassis, so if you contact them and have the VIN number handy. They should be able to supply the chassis wiring information. The rear marker lights, brake and turn signals on the coach should be connected to a connector located in the right rear area of the chassis. The issue with the headlight switch sounds like a different issue, but that wirings is also covered in the chassis wiring information. Still having issues with my computer, so speel check and all my drawings are not avalable. Rich.

Kent, from your description it sounds like a failure in the air bag bladder! Freightliner customer help line should be able to give you some helpful information - have your Vin Number handy. 1-800-385-4357 Rich,
